Pity that the people in the background can't simply listen to your excellent performance and keep quiet for a moment. But great guitar playing and singing!*****
The sustained chords - I'm sure Mr Gilmour uses all sorts of compressors etc but I managed to simplify it down to 3 everyday pedals:
From guitar into "Ernie Ball Jr" vol pedal, out from the tuner socket (always full vol) to desk for lead parts.
Come out of main socket of vol pedal into Boss DD3, (all set full, except feedback control set just below max), then into Boss CE3 (set to your taste) to desk.
The key is to smoothly bring in the volume of the sustained chords just after you strum the chord.
Thats it, just trial and error and you'll soon get the hang of it.
I've seen lots of other attempts at explaining this technique using multi fx units etc, but, as you can tell by the video, my set up gives great results from a very simple fx layout.
Another great cover!!! loved it.....love the Pink Floyd! love your covers!! keep up the great work...gives me inspiration to play more :O) Thank you

you did a terrific job! I'm also a guitar player, and I respect how much skill that took. Plus, your singing wasn't bad either :)

On the intro, how do you sustain the chords thru the lead parts? Is it a specific kind of pedal? Please post it in your reply!
I've seen video of David Gilmour doing this tune acoustic live and he does the same trick. It sounds excellent!
GREAT job! (Shame the people you were playing for were so rude that they couldn't give you more of their attention!)
Gotta love the pub scene mate!
