In 2004 I was diagnosed with chronic mercury toxicity and a high body burden of mercury from running a dental practice in the 1970's. Unfortunately, I was allowed to handle mercury without any protection; mask, gloves or proper ventilation and throughout my pregnancy. My daughter was diagnosed with a neurological condition and scoliosis. I firmly believe this was the result of her chronic exposure to mercury in my womb.
Thanks Rob for removing my amalgam all those years ago. if it weren't for your research and pioneering work in this area, I too may have been a victim of mercury poisoning. Let the dean's and professors of Australian Universities heed your sage advice and stop amalgam from being used in dentistry.
Dr Gammal thankyou for getting the message out there- on a personal level it is difficult to convince my husband and parents to have their amalgams removed, when their own dentists do not support this decision. Education is the only tool in an ignorant world. I will continue to protect my own children and hope the message passes down through the generations until government support is finally received.
