You really loved her...it shows. My husband and I have a 34 pound orange tabby...Pumpkin...he is the coolest, most affectionate cat. Not as big as a cougar but just as loving. Did you get another big cat?

I never really liked cats till one day this little creature came into my life in 1998. I lost my best friend Dusty a dog in 2000. Zeek the cat seemed to know I was troubled. Little by little he grew on me. I had to let him go at 11:00 am friday the day before Christmas. I am 6'2 and 250lbs. Well this little guy brought me down to size when he left this world. Even now I tearing up as I write. I know how you feel brother. Sorry for your loss. Those that live without animals don't understand. RIP!

my neighbor had a pet cougar but a neighbor hood dog got in its cage and the cougar killed it and ate it. the guy had to get rid of it. I feel bad because its really the dogs fault.

I'm not a believer so I don't believe in an afterlife, either way, make sure you treasure your memories, they are your very own time machine, you can't change the past, but you can remember it.
i am usually against people domesticating these type of wild animals... but it is refreshing to hear someone make comments about how it is realistically difficult and dangerous to take in this type of animal..i think there a lot of people out there right now getting bobcats, tigers, and other large cats without having the right habitat or training to take in this animal.. thank you for being honest about this situation

No just my own experiance with them i have had 3 Cougars 2 Bobcats And 2 Canadian Lynx along with many other wild animals. I never tell people that they make good pets, It takes alot of time and love to get a relationship like i had with her. Everyone thinks they are cute when their young but they grow up very fast and most people like 1 out of 10.000 people might be able to deal with them properly all it takes is 1 mistake you see it on the news all the time and some of them are pros.
Thats a very affectionate pet. I stumbled on this while researching the prospect of getting a large cat as a pet. I recently lost my beloved Tiger Pit Sancho, and am looking for something different. How difficult has she when she challenged?
I wouldent advies getting 1, They will put the fear of God in you at some point and its a fine line weather you'll get past that point. Its a 3 to 4 year test period to see what they can get away with. Cats are not Dogs. Dogs will forgive, Cats dont forget, Dogs Bite and Release, Cats Bite to the Bone and Hang On. There is always the Chance that things can Go Bad. Ask yourself are you ready for this ? Can you be Responcible, Can you be Lible for what might happen ?. It could be Life Changing.
I would like to get one. I'm a very loving person, such as yourself and having already a few cats, I'm ready for a relationship of this sort. Please message me as to where I can aquire one.
I would suggest you do alot of thinking before you decide to get 1, They require alot of work and love and for most people after they turn about 6 months old they cant handle them anymore and get rid of them and thats not fair to the animal.They will challenge you and if you back down its over . As far as getting 1 i have lost all contacts that i had.

We were meant to live in harmony and abundance. Your's was one in a million. Truly a blessing, an example of what is possible if we overcome our fear, ignorance, selfishness, greed and aggression...... beauty and balance.
Respect and love are very important lessons for us all to learn. There is an honesty in their boldness that I admire. It may be because we tend to feed most muscle and not enough entrails. My domestic cats walk to the garden with me and enjoy eating greens like catnip, lambsquarters, sunchokes, and spinach.
I cannot believe all of you that are wanting a Cougar as a pet. I love Cougars, but they should remain in the wild. When they become 5-6 ft, and weigh 150-200lbs, they will not be easy to take care of, and you will have to do something with the Cougar. In some cases, they are rescued and taken to a zoo or sanctuary, but in other cases they are put down. The consequences of some will be death because humans were irresponsible in taking them in as pets.
First of all let me start by saying that i agree with most of what you have said, and i do a pretty good job of telling people that they dont make an ideal pet and 99.9 % should not own 1 as a pet and i can speak from experiance. It only takes a 60 lbs cat to make you think twice about owning 1. I knew several people that got 1 as a pet and they were done shortly after they turn 6 months old because they had no idea what to expect. It took me years of research to understand them .

I have always wanted a cougar or cheetah pet, but i don't think its ligal here in Denmark, so i have 4 normal housecats. And must admit i can't help to envy you the bond you two had. You must have had a really special relationship. It is far from everyone that could ever get such a relationship with a cat. It is rare especially with a big cat. You have been very lucky to find eachother. The love and trust between you is clearly there.
I don't know what to say except Thank You Very Much. Your words touched me very deeply and I hope i allways live up to your vision of me. I try to live a decent life but no 1 is perfect and we all have faults. I just do well with animals.

i am usually against people domesticating these type of wild animals... but it is refreshing to hear someone make comments about how it is realistically difficult and dangerous to take in this type of animal..i think there a lot of people out there right now getting bobcats, tigers, and other large cats without having the right habitat or training to take in this animal.. thank you for being honest about this situation

No just my own experiance with them i have had 3 Cougars 2 Bobcats And 2 Canadian Lynx along with many other wild animals. I never tell people that they make good pets, It takes alot of time and love to get a relationship like i had with her. Everyone thinks they are cute when their young but they grow up very fast and most people like 1 out of 10.000 people might be able to deal with them properly all it takes is 1 mistake you see it on the news all the time and some of them are pros.

Thats a very affectionate pet. I stumbled on this while researching the prospect of getting a large cat as a pet. I recently lost my beloved Tiger Pit Sancho, and am looking for something different. How difficult has she when she challenged?

I wouldent advies getting 1, They will put the fear of God in you at some point and its a fine line weather you'll get past that point. Its a 3 to 4 year test period to see what they can get away with. Cats are not Dogs. Dogs will forgive, Cats dont forget, Dogs Bite and Release, Cats Bite to the Bone and Hang On. There is always the Chance that things can Go Bad. Ask yourself are you ready for this ? Can you be Responcible, Can you be Lible for what might happen ?. It could be Life Changing.

I would suggest you do alot of thinking before you decide to get 1, They require alot of work and love and for most people after they turn about 6 months old they cant handle them anymore and get rid of them and thats not fair to the animal.They will challenge you and if you back down its over . As far as getting 1 i have lost all contacts that i had.

Thank you for the wonderful tribute to your dear friend. I know how you feel, I am a cougar owner myself. I live with 4 bobcats and a 3 1/2 year old cougar. Our bond is like no other and I can only imagine the pain of your loss. You, just as I, are blessed to be able to share our lives with such magnificent cats. Respect and love are very important lessons for us all to learn. There is an honesty in their boldness that I admire. It may be because we tend to feed most muscle and not enough entrails. My domestic cats walk to the garden with me and enjoy eating greens like catnip, lambsquarters, sunchokes, and spinach.

I cannot believe all of you that are wanting a Cougar as a pet. I love Cougars, but they should remain in the wild. When they become 5-6 ft, and weigh 150-200lbs, they will not be easy to take care of, and you will have to do something with the Cougar. In some cases, they are rescued and taken to a zoo or sanctuary, but in other cases they are put down. The consequences of some will be death because humans were irresponsible in taking them in as pets.

First of all let me start by saying that i agree with most of what you have said, and i do a pretty good job of telling people that they dont make an ideal pet and 99.9 % should not own 1 as a pet and i can speak from experiance. It only takes a 60 lbs cat to make you think twice about owning 1. I knew several people that got 1 as a pet and they were done shortly after they turn 6 months old because they had no idea what to expect. It took me years of research to understand them .

I've had two wolves, one of which died from poisoning. the other I sadly had to give to the SPCA, due to the fact I had to live in an apartment. wolves are such gentle animals. ppl think they're killers, but they're just as loyal, and loving as a regular dog. I'm sorry for your loss, and like so many have said, you have your memories.

You know, anyone who thinks that an animal cannot love clearly hasn't experienced a relationship like the one who had with Brandy. I know what it's like to have a bond with a pet, since I have the same sort of thing with my cat. She may not be a big cat, but she's still my baby and I love her very much. I can tell that Brandy simply adored you and she acted in the same way as my cat, Geri does. It is sad that you lost her, but she'll live on in your memories and you'll see each other again. n_n

I have always wanted a cougar or cheetah pet, but i don't think its ligal here in Denmark, so i have 4 normal housecats. And must admit i can't help to envy you the bond you two had. You must have had a really special relationship. It is far from everyone that could ever get such a relationship with a cat. It is rare especially with a big cat. You have been very lucky to find eachother. The love and trust between you is clearly there.
There should be more men like you.

Thank You Very Much There is a lot of red tape and i would suggest you wait till your older and do a lot of research first be well established first and know what your getting into i would advise most people not to get 1 because you will be held responsible for what might happen and it wouldent be pretty.
