  • Where should i get the tools? ;D

  • What size screw drive do I use? Mine all are too big.

  • The 1st gen does need some love to get that battery off but dont worry so much these things are more durable then he lets on. I removed the battery with a knife no damage at all. In fact i did nearly the whole thing with a knife. the only bad thing that happened was that the coper spring came off but you can put it right back no problem.

  • Is that voice for real, sounds like a peedo

  • I got it back together finally. But I have some parts leftover. I threw those away. Was that wrong?

  • Are you in No Country For Old Men? That Assassin duke...? Is that you? You sound like him.

  • how boaring

  • i cant get the back off

  • I CANT GET THE BACK OFF, ARGH

  • dude whats up with your voice

  • What the hell was that bit about when loads of pple started talking at the same time? :(

  • yogi bear knows technology!

  • i simply want to take off the back because it has some dints in it which i somehow want to smoothen back out. does anyone have any idea of anything else i could use to take the back off? i have tried various sizes of guitar pick and none of them seem to work.

    thanks.

  • soo.. whats the point of this ?

  • wat a wast of ipod

  • Used a screwdriver XD cracked screen :)

  • once i replace the parts can i put it pack together

  • @Joshuan271 sorry. but no you must leave it apart forever

  • i swear this guy sounds just like my uncle.

  • the spring came off when you mentioned it on 1:47. what should i do now?

  • THANKS

  • Wow! I never knew Dr.Phil knew how to take apart an iPod!

  • The 1st gen iPod touch is dumb as helllllll

  • @misteryjesus buy a new ipod stupid fuck

  • Anyone able to tell me the capacity (mAh) of the default battery in the 1st gen iPod touch?

  • I'm thinking of replacing my battery myself, how would I safely remove the one currently in, and the new one?

  • hows ur ipod got the blaxk back?

  • wow i like your ipod back...

  • im having an extreamly hard time taking the back cover off the ipod.. help?

  • "by mac recycling.commmmm"

  • you suck balls. your voice is crap

  • your cool

  • I just cut up the tape into little pieces and put about four right on the white button. The tape is self adhesive. Watch out cause now my iPod audio only works in one channel with headphones. I have to work on that now.

  • This video helped me fix the home button on my 1st gen ipod touch. i followed it and it worked. i had to put a couple layers of little tape pieces on the button to help it touch the sensor. i thought i was fucked but this video helped

  • i was wondering how did you put the tape on there?

  • This was a very helpful video for me since i jammed my home button in

  • why would u want to open one of these? just wondering, if it breaks i hear apple sends u a new one. no questions asked if u have all the reciepts n etc

  • to fix a meassed up lock button

  • @NonDairyCreamer77

    cuz apple likes to overcharge

like in my situation i got my ipod touch first week it came out

couple weeks ago the headphone jack stopped working

seeing that it was over 2 years ago when i bought it, the warrenty is expired

they wanted me to pay $200 to fix it

i fixed it on my own for $5 and 30 mins of labor

  • well if your battery goes bad and you want to fix it your self the vid shows you how to take it apart

  • i also have audio jack problems

  • hey my audio jack is also messed up can i replace it??

  • hey my ipod audio jack is messed up.. is it hard 2 replace it?

  • thats so stupid no offens!

  • When the video starts going with 2 voices at the same time, that's where I start losing confidence!

  • i found out that its really easy to pry the battery out without damaging by using a plastic 15cm ruler (merangue)

  • This is a pretty good video, better than many others, as it warns you to be careful of the spring on the upper right. It's the first thing I broke on mine however, as I found a different video first. The location of the glue on the battery is a good tip too, thanks! Wish I had found this video first.

  • did you fix your spring? i broke mine too -_- (i cant lock my screen anymore..)

  • Nope, not happening, as far as I can tell. It looked like it needed to be soldered back on, but it is a multi layered PCB, and I didn't feel like trying it. The whole ipod is pretty much junk now, the case was wrecked, the WIFI broke, because the ribbon in mine doesn't unplug, it tore instead.

  • ME TOO! did you fix yours? if so how? where did you get the parts from and how much were they?... thanks

  • i didnt fix mine. to repair, you must change the complete motherboard(i have a 32 gb) so it would cost me about 300$ to repair so i just figured out to install quicklock on my springboard(jailbroken)

  • oh, i will get my friend to jailbreak mine... the quick lock just does what the sleep/wake button does? springboard is only for jail break right? is it free?.... thanks

  • quicklock can only put to sleep, to wake , just push home button.. the springboard is were all ur apps appear, its like the desktop on a pc

  • yea i have that, but i cant stand my lock button not working

  • man what a ripoff

    same thing happened to me

  • would you have to do all this just to take off the front housing of the ipod touch??

  • what kind of ipod is it?

    i like the black back

  • its the the 1st gen. it just looks black cuz the lighting

  • The back isn't black, the ceiling is. btw, it's a 1st gen ipod touch 8 gigs.

  • This video gave me big wood.

  • Thanks for the video. I just used it to rebuild my iPod touch. And for all the people with stupid comments. You need a IQ at least above rock level to do this!!

  • i dont disassemble stuff that costs me $200

  • then dont watch buddy

  • Well the rest of us probably can't afford to send it in to apple to be fixed seeing as how we aren't all rich. :)

    From

    The Middle Class

  • yeah.If ur a noob at fixing stuff, theres only maybe a 10% chance you ll succeed

  • amen brother

  • i do when its broken and isnt worth 200$ anymore

  • dude its impossible to even get a quitar pick in there so the rest of your video is completely useless to 95 percent of these people

  • ya ive been trying for a while, anyone knwo how to get the covor off?

  • How did you make it black

  • you can buy a black skin but his is either sharpie colored or probably company made because some websites remake the backs eih your serial number on them and everything for about $20

  • You can get back plates

  • I would like to know how to replace a battery on a itouch first generation.

I need the steps to remove it and put it back together

  • u go to the apple store apple store and buy battery or let them replace it either way

  • i have a first gen ipod my wifi is NOT workin at all it is not even show the single bars on the home page iv taken it apart and gave a clean and made sure it looks good/tight i did hav internet been jailbroke for 6th month and it was fast plz can u hlp

  • wow that battery is small!

  • what part is the part where it gets you wi-fi connection?

  • it is the small black box on the back top

  • I got a question!

Ok so all the parts that are glued down, if i got and replace the glass screen, what kind of glue should i put back on?

  • who wuld do this for fun??

  • me...

  • anyone who would rather fix there ipod in a day themselves than send it in for a month.

  • incase you didnt know, it doesnt take a month. my ipod touch 1st generation broke ( It did not show up in itunes when the ipod had the symbol for "connect to itunes") so i called apple and i got my ipod back in 4 days!

  • I was exaggerating. but realistically it could take at least a couple weeks for someone overseas.

  • damn the battery is fucking thin

  • its gonna really suck when you die. pause not.

  • How do you take apart a 2G?

  • MOST ANNOYING VOICE DIE BITCH!

  • Ok I have a ipod touch 1G and my screen has been cracked. The screen still works (I still play games on it all the time). So I'm assuming the LCD works, but does this mean that the Digitizer also works?

Do I need glass with digitizer or just the 2G Glass?

    Thanks! :)

  • wow. the silver thing is the battery? thats the smallest battery ever. i mean thinnest

  • i kno wat u mean...

    lol

  • lol i thought it was cool seeing wt is it made up of

  • 1. I hate ribbon wires.

    2. If I just want to replace the digitizer, do I still need to start at the back and take everything off?

  • Did they keep the bluetooth hardware in the 1st Gen. Touch?

  • it has the hidden bluetooth files in it but they dont do anything...

  • Well done. very informative.. I probably would have broken that damned ribbon cable had I not seen this.

  • wanna loser who takes aprt a ipod touch
