  • cool video ULLE all the way!

  • Armstrong, was able to get his Tour wins because of people like Dr. Ferrari. His V02 max of 82 is really low for a Grand Tour contender, goes to show how juiced up he has to get. Consider that Contador's is 88, Basso's is 87 & Ullrich's was 85.

  • you can see the spark of ullrich's deraiileur on the road when he fell

  • Some reports suggest that testicular cancer at a young age is linked to hormone abuse. Although I'm not suggesting that the great American, who defeated testicular cancer, would do such a thing. It speaks volumes of LA that he continually beat his peers, even when a lot of them were utilising artificial performance enhancers... David Millar, Tyler Hamilton, Danilo Di Luca, Marco Pantani, Folyd Landis, Gilberto Simoni, Ivan Basso, Alexander Vinokourov, Jan Ullrich...

  • Even though EPO use gives an improvement of 20%. 20% doesn't sound like a lot but multiplied over the length of the tour... 3500km = 700km LA beat them all. What a guy!

  • I love Armstrong, but you gotta feel bad for Ullrich after something like that

  • I meant to give a thumbs up... sorry about that

  • Fuck Pharmstrong ....

Ullrich wins 2min of him in this time-trail ....with the fall....derm.....he is the best rider ever , best time-trailer who ever lived

    UUUUUUUULLEE !!

  • Fuuuuck... 3:22. The intensity is off the Richter scale!!

As far as this Merckx, LeMond, Indurain comparison deal... They are all great cyclists and athletes, but I think Lance has brought more publicity to cycling, especially in the latter part of his seven straight wins. Despite the publicity being about "did he, didn't he? He said, she said", Lance gets more people out cycling than anyone else (in North America at least).

Doping aside though... do you think he'll win this years tour??

  • Yeah if people only knew the truth.

  • It's too bad that subsequent revelations about Aldag and Zabel have "tainted" this film . . . It's really one of the most handsome pieces of cycling cinema ever.

  • lance armstrong was a tour rider not a lot else, eddy merckx is the most complete cyclist ever to have raced, giro d'italia, 3 x milan-san-remos, 2x gent-wevelgens, tour of flanders, fleche wallone and paris robaix all before the age of 25 and before he rode the tour, amazing.

  • I agree. and many will dispute me on this but I think Greg LeMond was a better rider overall than Lance Armstrong.

  • maybe armstrong couldn´t have won all that one day classics or the giro or la vuelta but i i would have challenged LeMond, Mercks, Fignon to win 7 Tours...that´s just over human limits. doesn´t matter the use of drugs... that achievment is over human capabilities

  • what is the best car? who is the best painter? who is the best driver? who is the best cyclist?

nobody can tell. of course you american guys can identify yourself with him, an that's okay. but i think in the whole history, eddy merckx was the most influental character....

  • well i dont know about the painter, but i can tell u that ullrich is the best cyclist.

  • Do you people even know of Eddy Merckx or Bernard Hinault at all? Lance was good don't get me wrong but he wasn't the best... he didn't win 525 races or 11 grand tours like Merckx and a slew of other races. So please study up before you make statements like that

  • @bikerdude5580 Eddy Merckx=greatest cyclist of all time

  • @bikerdude5580 True, but Armstrong would have owned Mercks, Hinault, Copi, all of them, anytime.

  • @Gre3njaw Yeah, because he used his cancer to take forbidden substances for free.

  • @bikerdude5580 douchey!!

  • of course lance Armstrong won...he's a time trial specialist. he started as doing triathlons so he's experienced with TTs

  • lance a time trial specialist? Watch him get creamed by indurain back in the day in the TTS; Lance became a great time trialist but he was first a great climber. The smaller guys are usually the better climbers

  • kingalleles Lance was not on anything except his ass for 5 hours a day for 20 days..Lance was born to ride a bike. his femurs are 3 inches longer than the normal human, and his heart is 4x bigger. he can pump more blood to his muscles in only a tenth of the pumps our hearts do

  • boomer; lance wasn't born with a bigger heart; he trained his heart to be that big; as far as femurs go i cant disagree that.

  • Hello helloooo, kingalleles.....CANCER PATIENTS DON'T DOPE!

Lance Armstrong is a very special human machine, that is why HE IS the best man on wheels, ever.

  • Ullrich was closing in on Armstrong in that TT. Was the most exciting finish of the tour in the Armstrong era

  • whats the music/tune name used at the end when it shows the 2 riders finishing? may i ask plz.

  • but Lance Armstrong would of be tested and tested for drugs in his system....hes just got a really strong determined mind? good natural genetic superior body, and has trained damn hard, and deserves his title.

  • oh,btw most competitive cyclists use anabolic steroids at some point sometime... usually during there training, then they come off them for a few months, or so prior to competitions when there at risk of being tested...who wouldn't use them? a lil won't do them any harm''is what they think, just to gain a bit of extra muscle which the body doesn't naturally produce no matter how hard you train.

  • You dont know what your talking about. Cyclists use steroids to aid in muscle rebuilding after working out. You recover faster and are fresher the next day when "on". They don't take steroids to get more muscles. Cycling is not limited by the amount of muscles you have.

  • ulle can sock my cock, he won tour once! CONGRATULATIONS! armstrong won 7 times :)

  • I love Ulle!

  • Lance was on the juice!! Come on??? Cancer patient wins seven tours in a row with no aid? Not possible! I'm sorry I just can't buy that one. If you do, I got some prime real estate for you.

  • Is any of it spoken in english?

  • amazing

  • i totally agree with coeurlion,if ulrich had put as much commitment into the tour as armstrong did hed have stood a better chance of if not beating him would have ran him a lot closer.this video here was the year he did put extra effort in and had he not fallen he would have won it,you cant fuck around with your body wieght and expect to be fit for winning this race,so rates wise up hes absolutely right and if you showed a little less ignorance and wise up you might see that to.

  • haha AlexH09

no one cares if your valverdes "friend"

i happen to know dave millar, does that make you better than everyone else or somethin?

  • What place is that were the guys are watching, were they say thats it for ullrich, is that like a viewing area or betting place or something?

  • dude, armstrong looks like an animal and the eyes tell you that he's full of drugs

  • Yeah, he's full of drugs alright, adrenaline, determination, and desire. Ride a bike sometime you jagoff. That's the problem with cycling going mainstream, it opens the sport up to criticism from people who don't know anything about riding.

  • i can tell you that I know definitly more about riding. I'm a good friend of Alejandro Valverde and attend caisse d'espagne since 1 year now...so thats something u can't tell me

  • Oh then please, allow us to bow down to you *rolls eyes*

  • Right, thats the only possible explanation. You are so wise!

  • just like that huh? You look into his eyes from a bad camera angle on a rainy day during a time trial and your "expert" diagnosis is that he's on drugs? You fucking momo!!

  • you are so naiv to think that even only one rider wasn't on drugs in this year

  • I don't know what the fuck you're saying. i think you're sating that riders are still on drugs, and you're probably right, but what does that have to do with the fact that you are "sure" lance was on drugs cause you could see it in his eyes?

  • i mean that in the period of 1990-2006 almost everyone was on drugs, also Armstrong and that I can easily see that in his eyes...even if u don't

  • Well then great. The tour can fire all those expensive doctors, take out all of the complicated and accurate testing, and just hire you..........to look into all the riders' eyes, before and after the tour.

  • you don't get it...I'm just telling you the facts. The tour is just one big show, which is exciting to watch, also for me

  • in the period of 1990-2007 !!!

  • I think the problem with ulrich was that he wasn't strong in all aspects of cycling. He had huge, I mean absolutely HUGE anaerobic power, but lacked in other aspects.

I'll show you a example: close to where I live there is a large dike, which I use to practice, it is pretty curvy, with lots of bends in it. If you forget to lower your gear while taking the corner, it is gonna be hard to pick your speed up again. If you forget those kinds of thing in the Tour, you're screwed.

  • Ullrich is a giant waste of talent. He never lost the weight he needed to become a better mountain rider. Plus he makes horrible tactical descions. All his mistakes are correctable so it's hard to root for him. At least if your a true tour-junkie.

  • Coeurlion is a waste of flesh and oxygen. If we could lose him from the planet, we would have a much nicer time watching these videos with out his worthless opinions. I wish he would fall on a knife.

  • It's pointless to debate this topic. American athletes are comming from games man ship and few others are comming from preservation of sports man ship. It's not even topic of debate.

  • Ullrich would have won that year had he been on a good team, but he messed up the previous season. Ullrich was never a good bike handler.

  • stop hating

  • all of the argueing is ridulous. are you not fucking entertained? if not, why are you watching?

  • I remember waking up at like 5:45 in the morning to see the 6am preview show and the stage started at like 6:30 am. I was pulling for Ullrich to win so much, and he really deserved to win that year. Ullrich went for it and lost. Had it been dry, I still believe Ullrich woudl have overtaken Armstrong in the GC, but we'll never know.

  • Why do you care about the whole issue? Today we know that both were cheaters since both doped - even though they would never admit it. But it is obvious for anyone who wants to know the simple truth.

  • Why don't you just shut up. Get over the fact that at least one of them wasn't on drugs, and is in fact a great athlete.

  • Who could that be? It is really amazing how ignorant you guys are. Why don't you just admit that these guys are doping and cheating - if you like, you can admire them anyway...

  • so? even if .. that does not mean they are not great athletes. if you think that doping makes it so much easier to achieve what they did try it yourself.

i think you are just jealous pric who can't achieve anything even by doping

  • Why do you get so excited? Yes, maybe these guys are great athletes. But in order to be a real star there has to be more - for example honesty, truthfulness and such things... Don't you think so?

  • no I don´t think so.. people like us make these icredible athletes stars. I don't like people talking about whtat they don´t know..you should be one of them..then you would understand why they use prohibited substances

  • Ullrich didnt won the stage because while Armstrong was riding in order to recognize the stage Ullrich was sleeping and he just saw a video of the stage, however Armstrong knew the stage because he rode it.

Ullrich was a good cyclist but didnt have the heart of a champion while lance did it.

  • fuck you lance! ullrich should ha won! end of the story.

  • Going fast is but ONE SMALL PART OF THE WHOLE? Correct me if Im wrong but that was a time trial right? In a cycling race? Now next time you feel like commenting on a cycling video slap ur self a couple of times. Thanks. Also buy a time trial bike and train hard for many years and then go ride your fastest (however slow that may be) in weather like that and you will see how easily the rear wheel comes out. /rant

  • Jan was not the best bike racer that day, as evidenced by his inability to keep his machine upright. Going fast is but one small part of the whole. The better racer won. That's how it should be.

  • Man what are you on? Inability to keep his machine upright? Armstrong was beating Ullrich in the over all time classification. Ullrich had to take risks where as Armstrong could afford to slow down and take the corners safely. Ullrich put it all on the line, he took risks, he crashed, he lost. All or nothing.

  • Taking risks + crashing out = Best rider of the day?

  • No im not arguing hes the best rider of the day. Im saying taking risks is what he had to do.

  • I hate this stage almost as much as the Luz Ardiden stage! Ullrich should ha won! He deserved it!
