The ACR stands for Adaptive Combat Rifle not Advanced. The Advanced Combat Rifle Program was a Military program in the 80s to find a rifle to replace the m16. It failed After spending 3 million dollars on the program. Or was it 3 billion? I can't ever remember...

It's the Magpul Masada/Bushmaster ACR. Busmaster bought the rights to the gun from Magpul, and fiddled with it and released the ACR.
