Jimi - Blues/Psychedelia + whatever he put his mind to. SRV - Texas Blues + whatever he put his mind to. They were both awesome get over this squabbling whos better. jeez.
@xTurquoiseGlazex ....Bro' : they (both J.Marshall H.,&S.R.Vaughan)should each be appreciated for being 2 of the most incredibly talented 'rock/blues/(jazz..) GUITARISTS ever!I agree w. U : it don't matter who's -overinflated,personal opinion - tries to judge that 1 is BETTER!!!! Just listen to /Let the Good Times Roll!
the more i look at this man the more i believe just like jimi he was sent by what men call god, to bring the message we all know what that message is: dont fuckin stop playing!!!
SRV is much better than jimi.. you can easily hear it.. jimi just wrote nice songs.. SRV is much better as a guitarist! thats y the covers of jimis songs made by srv r much better!
@skabadranias I think SRV, magnificently talented as he is, is ordinary when compared to Hendrix. He's not as innovative a guitarist or producer, and definitely not as profound a songwriter.
@CatGoesBOOM Gee thats not saying much-I have listened to Hendrix for years and there is no comparison. You have to have talent to play his stuff but there is something missing - sorry
@skabadranias your talking shit! just tryin to get a reaction out! you got to ask yourself who came on the seen first! im sure steve ray himself would disagree with you! jimi was his idol!!
i think this is hendrix's lick that SRV copied for his lick in Mary Had a Little Lamb, but he put alot of his own style into it and made it into his own... both songs are completely different beasts though...
@fezzard Buddy Guy recorded Mary Had A Little Lamb in 1967, Stevie only covered it but Jimi was a major musical influence for both of them as you can easily hear. But you are right, they doe sound almost identical.
I was just looking for that version!!! Ugh youtube sucks sometimes. I had so many great vids in my favorites and I go back and they don't exist anymore :(
Geep, for how many long are you going to go on every possible video of Stevie Ray Vaughan and talk rubbish about him? You're fuckin retarded and know nothing about music. You should seriously need to shut your fuckin mouth you moron.
Well it's the truth. You do it too except mostly misinformed & wrong. I enjoy the listening, can type while I listen and there are many listeners who are not YET aware of such things as Jimi's arrangement which Stevie is performing here. Some people find it interesting & even thank me. Hmm Why does that bother you? It was merely an observation one guitar player of another. I cover Jimi myself, Hey Joe near note for note & I am by no means ashamed of it . Now be nice & I'll teach you more.
Just so you all know where this arrangement comes from. Very close to Jimi Hendrix's version but not as close as SRV's studio cut of this. The studio one is nearly a clone guitar wise.

@tinker1960 Yeah, Hendrix is my favourite artist. Still, SRV is a great cover artist if you think of him as one.
