i think this is hendrix's lick that SRV copied for his lick in Mary Had a Little Lamb, but he put alot of his own style into it and made it into his own... both songs are completely different beasts though...

@fezzard Buddy Guy recorded Mary Had A Little Lamb in 1967, Stevie only covered it but Jimi was a major musical influence for both of them as you can easily hear. But you are right, they doe sound almost identical.

Well it's the truth. You do it too except mostly misinformed & wrong. I enjoy the listening, can type while I listen and there are many listeners who are not YET aware of such things as Jimi's arrangement which Stevie is performing here. Just so you all know where this arrangement comes from. Very close to Jimi Hendrix's version but not as close as SRV's studio cut of this. The studio one is nearly a clone guitar wise.
