I am currently working on another game (Tiny Plumbers) while I think about some of the issues that keep N8 from being as popular as it could be.. However, I have only improved on N8, not trashed it. It is significantly less laggy, and faster loading then when beta started.
I can't play for some reason. All I get is the loading screen but I hear the game running and it says when I randomly pressed arrows I went inside the void. Please help! I have vista if that is any help.
It looks like sims style building, with SDK style physics, I like. I also like the idea of being able to run around with a sword! :D

This is what people like in game a way to express them selves. I see the similar ideas within this, in which means that you have the right ideas, and well on your way to making something just a popular, because you are on the level of what people like before it's popular.This is proof that you have the skills as well. @45678ret gameplay is not like minecraft, as there is no mining or crafting. I don't know what source sdk is, so I don't know if the building is like that. Be sure to check out the newer trailer, this one is very very old.

@aionskull Yeah. Roblox, to be honest, used to be good, but now the team has an unhealthy obsession with hats. ( I call it TF2itis but still, the TF2 team uses hats as filler) And Minecraft is NOTHING like this game.
I love the idea, you have done a great job! Although if I can suggest one thing, it would be adding a grid function. ( from the looks of this you don't have one, but I'm sorry if you do) I have played a great many sandbox games, and I know one thing that really annoys me is nonalignment. If you could make it easier to align objects and make "straight" creations, it'd definitely be a must have for me, carry on the good work:)

@n3wb1shness ROFL of course its not 8bit... it runs on a modern computer, it is however a homage to 8bit, and styled like a 3D 8bit world. If you had played the game or read anything on the game website you would know that. And I love my game, nothing wrong with defending things you love.

Ok, here's my impression of this game after playing it a bit.
Lag is a major problem here. What infuriated me the most is that idea of blocking the way with wall saying "Cell is loading...". This is extremely lame and whoever created this game has to remove this ASAP.
World is a bit chaotic, and I had big issues with figuring out basic things. Game seems to offer a lot of freedom, but I actually didn't know what to do. Where do I go, how I make money etc. Even health bar is so hidden!
@ThinBear4 Hello, I created this game. I know lag is a problem for some people, and that cell loading times are too slow. Its actually what I am focused on right now. I would love to just remove the cell loading all together, but its just not feasible. Letting people walk into partially loaded cells would ruin the game. It's still in beta, still in progress. I think i might make the hp bar animate in some way when you lose hp, to draw attention to it. (thanks for commenting with specifics!)

Well, I do see a point. Hope the lag and cell loading can be fixed soon. I was thinking a bit on how the game can be improved, but I think the best what can done is working on optimalization, since adding flashy and cool stuff doesn't have much point if the game doesn't run smoothly.
About the health bar, just make it bigger, more visible. Maybe make some flashy effects when losing health.
@janthran I see, but it doesn't change the fact that this issue must be solved somehow as soon as possible. It can't be left as it is now because it damages the gameplay greatly.

Although from watching the building mode on this video, i would say i do like how minecraft builds, but by that i mean like you should have a snap feature for building so that panels arnt all wonky to each other, but this should also allow you to build diagonally as well =), hope my feedback is appreciated =D

Well I DID like minecraft before it started heading from sandbox/survival to horror survival. I absolutely despise horror games, so minecraft is destroyed for me.

@Skilledman4 Minecraft is pretty cool, But neither Roblox or Minecraft are a single persistent world. They are different kinds of games all together, although they do share a common theme of building, N8* is a lot more then that. Also, the game is not feature complete. There are cool things happening in the next few weeks. I might be a bit biased (being the creator of N8*) but I think it is going to be the greatest mmo sandbox in existence.
@aionskull I don't know... Garry's Mod is a pretty big Sandbox MMO. You're gonna have to do some pretty crazy stuff to trump that, but hye! Good luck to you!

It would however be pretty interesting if some rudimentary form of physics calculations were implemented into this game of yours. It would hook me in, being able to build a functioning piston engine of some sort.

I would love to just remove the cell loading all together, but its just not feasible. Letting people walk into partially loaded cells would ruin the game. It's still in beta, still in progress. I think i might make the hp bar animate in some way when you lose hp, to draw attention to it. (thanks for commenting with specifics!)

Well, I do see a point. Hope the lag and cell loading can be fixed soon. I was thinking a bit on how the game can be improved, but I think the best what can done is working on optimalization, since adding flashy and cool stuff doesn't have much point if the game doesn't run smoothly.
About the health bar, just make it bigger, more visible. Maybe make some flashy effects when losing health.

@ThinBear4 You know what happens if he takes out the "CELL LOADING" walls?
The cells don't have time to load. Then you walk across the cell and fall into the void.
Optionally, he can make it so that it'll immediately load, but this would cause enough lag to crash the game.

@janthran I see, but it doesn't change the fact that this issue must be solved somehow as soon as possible. It can't be left as it is now because it damages the gameplay greatly.

@aionskull im quite looking forward to this game reaching an alpha, or full version =) its looks quite promising at the moment with a variety of dofferent things being able to be added.
Although from watching the building mode on this video, i would say i do like how minecraft builds, but by that i mean like you should have a snap feature for building so that panels arnt all wonky to each other, but this should also allow you to build diagonally as well =), hope my feedback is appreciated =D

Well I DID like minecraft before it started heading from sandbox/survival to horror survival. I absolutely despise horror games, so minecraft is destroyed for me.

These sounds make minecraft scary for me even on peaceful. And there's a crapton of other things. Like, there's no way to tell your footsteps from all the other creatures. It might be the pig approaching, it might be the creeper as well. Creepers are nearly noiseless so imagine one sneaking up on you in a dark cave.

@Skilledman4 Minecraft is pretty cool, But neither Roblox or Minecraft are a single persistent world. They are different kinds of games all together, although they do share a common theme of building, N8* is a lot more then that. Also, the game is not feature complete. There are cool things happening in the next few weeks. I might be a bit biased (being the creator of N8*) but I think it is going to be the greatest mmo sandbox in existence.

@aionskull Hmm, perhaps I didn't think that one through enough. The definition of MMO has always been foggy for me, so I guess never mind. It would however be pretty interesting if some rudimentary form of physics calculations were implemented into this game of yours. It would hook me in, being able to build a functioning piston engine of some sort.

@mwhite112393 Unfortunately MMO level networking with functional physics would be difficult for a full development team.. let alone an independent single developer startup. :D you could build an engine mockup with Tronics though.
