I have one and I love it! If once my favored fuzz was the BigMuff, now the FZ2 is the king! it simply dethroned all my other fuzz devices. And the fact is has a clean boost, makes it really versatile and handy.
If you don't wanna go mad finding one at a good price, Behringer has a clone of it, the SF300 Superfuzz, I don't know how it sounds (I only saw a pair of videos and the results are pretty close), but I just ordered one to try out (for 20-30$ is something you can easely afford)

"your small little mind has to type everything that comes to it" -- honestly, your entire post sounds like you're talking to yourself. retarded 12-year-olds should not be allowed on the internet.
@Fernandez3995 i own it, and if you want hendrix tones there are way mor suitabe fuzz boxes out there than this one, here you have like 2 options too much fuzz or way much fuzz y personaly love it, but is not for hendrix maybe if you use the gain boost get a fuzz face o a mxr silicon fuzz
I have one of these from years ago in perfect condition. I wanted to sell it because i'm into blues and now getting into country. Can I use this thing like a compressor on the clean boost, Gearmandude?
FZ2 is the best fuzz (i've had many, including Z Vex) and the best clean boost (tried many, MXR microamp, etc). why did boss discontinue? the other BOSS fuzzes are terrible! Find this one!
@punkiassjunki well its all abiut what you will use it for. The fz-5 is Jimi Hendrix inspired pedal with tones for all three of his famous pedals: The Fuzz face, The Meastro, and the Octavio. The fz-2 gives you more eq choices but not the Octavio fuzz type.
dear gmd on mode 2 my fz-2 doesn't track very well when playing single note leads especially the dgbe strings , but works perfectly for riffs , the other 2 modes are ok .
can u tell me if that's normal or something has to be fixed , i play a stock us strat deluxe.
@feedbackismyfriend That's because It's from the early to mid 90's. (1993-1997) Up until about the mid to late 90's, boss pedals had some pretty to very good fx. For example, the original ds-1 that was produced in Japan was highly regarded & was actually the main distortion of Satriani & Steve Vai for a while in the 80's, & the old dm-2 analog delay is quite legendary.
I don't know if you got an answer yet but in the instruction the gain boost mode says is to boost the drive on your amp.So if you're playin' with the drive mode from your amp and you turn on the pedal on gain boost it'll give a more potent and round distortion less fuzzy than the other two and with lot of sustain. When used on clean mode it'll rise the volume too much and in my opinion is useless on the clean channel.
the thing that I find odd about this little gem is the clean boost. why on a fuzz box? a very good pedal. I like ge fuzz way more than si, but for a low rent si this is very good. too bad they're not made anymore. Ihave one though!
@PeterRosenqvist I agree, my friend used to have the stompbox before it got stolen. This fuzz sounded so unbelievably badass! The only other Boss pedal I even like is the NS-2.
Nice. Three distinct sounds. The flat sound everyone says is the dry, no reverb or delay, which GMD abhors. The wetness it adds would be nice, but I digress. This little pedal has a nice honky tonk (gain/boost), lite metal (fuzz 2), and killer Jimi H. sound (regular fuzz). Nice pedal from Boss, which would run about.....not on Musician's Fiend yet. How much, GMD???????????? DOn't tell me to go to sweetwater.
No personal little chat after?????Don't listen to the lunatice fringe, we need that "how it sounded in real life" feedback you give us. Tell us what it "felt" like. C'mon GMD.
I hear ya, but man.... trust me, they have way better gear, better pictures of the guitars you can buy in their photo gallery. plus, if you're a recording engineer, etc (which I do and love) they have all the gear you need there, where as Mus Frnd does not.
@chrishpippin Just in case no one told use, this pedal was discontinued quite a while back., but there are usually a couple on ebay @ decent prices. This was replaced by the fz-3 which sounded more nu metal/industrial.Currently, Boss produces the fz-5 which I believe is a digital modeling type fuzz pedal.
nice pedal! great demo! KILLER CONCEPT!!! GMD, you need to make the "Ultimate Solo Pedal," a pedal with a killer Fuzz sound and a killer boost sound. What other lead tones do you need? I would love to see the schematics of this pedal, I wonder if they're just bypassing the diodes in boost mode. GMD ROCKS!!!
Okay, I bought the jeans. I bought the boots, I bought the TGF 'Keith Richards' skull ring. I dyed my hair brown. I grew hairs on my arms. I wood panelled my floor and I fitted halogen lights. I'm slowly buying every effects pedal this wonderful human demos so perfectly for us all but there's still one thing.....
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a 'White Coily Cable of Destruction' ...... for the Love of all things distorted!? My life is empty without one!
I think at the lower gain an boost settings this actually has a really good sound. The higher gain settings are a little bit to 'chewy' for me personal, but the lower gain sounds are good.
Well, it's not a wonderful fuzz but at least,, like Buzz Osborne said, you can find a boss pedal in any music store in the world in case of lost or if it get stolen.
Anyone else just plain confused as to why they put a gain boost on this instead of just another kind of fuzz??
Oh, and for the record, I think BOSS is one of perfect brands for making fuzz pedals. It's what most of their distortion/overdrive pedals sound like anyway:P lol
Would have liked to hear some more of the Fuzz II-setting since it was my favorite, but apart from that, good demo... Thanks GMD "Green pick of filth"...lol
I own one of these babies, love it so much. Fuzz II sounds like Jimi Hendrix/Bongzilla, Fuzz II sounds like Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis, and Gain Boost makes anything sound awesome. That's what I mainly use it for, sure does give an extra boost to any tone in the world, regardless of pedals,
totally fooled me. when you wrote "boss" and "effects demo" i surley thought it would be followed by a variation on the worst sounding gear, like that digitech whammy, but that acctually sounded... good? from boss? noo, i mean its not a vintage 2 run... so wth?
