I have one and I love it! If once my favored fuzz was the BigMuff, now the FZ2 is the king! it simply dethroned all my other fuzz devices. And the fact is has a clean boost, makes it really versatile and handy.

If you don't wanna go mad finding one at a good price, Behringer has a clone of it, the SF300 Superfuzz, I don't know how it sounds (I only saw a pair of videos and the results are pretty close), but I just ordered one to try out (for 20-30$ is something you can easely afford)

FZ2 is the best fuzz (i've had many, including Z Vex) and the best clean boost (tried many, MXR microamp, etc). why did boss discontinue? the other BOSS fuzzes are terrible! Find this one!

@punkiassjunki well its all abiut what you will use it for. The fz-5 is Jimi Hendrix inspired pedal with tones for all three of his famous pedals: The Fuzz face, The Meastro, and the Octavio. The fz-2 gives you more eq choices but not the Octavio fuzz type.

dear gmd on mode 2 my fz-2 doesn't track very well when playing single note leads especially the dgbe strings , but works perfectly for riffs , the other 2 modes are ok .

can u tell me if that's normal or something has to be fixed , i play a stock us strat deluxe.

For example, the original ds-1 that was produced in Japan was highly regarded & was actually the main distortion of Satriani & Steve Vai for a while in the 80's, & the old dm-2 analog delay is quite legendary.

I don't know if you got an answer yet but in the instruction the gain boost mode says is to boost the drive on your amp.So if you're playin' with the drive mode from your amp and you turn on the pedal on gain boost it'll give a more potent and round distortion less fuzzy than the other two and with lot of sustain. When used on clean mode it'll rise the volume too much and in my opinion is useless on the clean channel.

Nice. Three distinct sounds. The flat sound everyone says is the dry, no reverb or delay, which GMD abhors. The wetness it adds would be nice, but I digress. This little pedal has a nice honky tonk (gain/boost), lite metal (fuzz 2), and killer Jimi H. sound (regular fuzz). Nice pedal from Boss, which would run about.....not on Musician's Fiend yet. How much, GMD???????????? DOn't tell me to go to sweetwater.

@chrishpippin Just in case no one told use, this pedal was discontinued quite a while back., but there are usually a couple on ebay @ decent prices. This was replaced by the fz-3 which sounded more nu metal/industrial.Currently, Boss produces the fz-5 which I believe is a digital modeling type fuzz pedal.

I think at the lower gain an boost settings this actually has a really good sound. The higher gain settings are a little bit to 'chewy' for me personal, but the lower gain sounds are good.

I own one of these babies, love it so much. Fuzz II sounds like Jimi Hendrix/Bongzilla, Fuzz II sounds like Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis, and Gain Boost makes anything sound awesome. That's what I mainly use it for, sure does give an extra boost to any tone in the world, regardless of pedals,
