  • I hadn't heard this in years and found it tonight. I used to play this on my weekend radio show in Lansing, MI. 1968-72 while attending Michigan State. Funny how I couldn't remember the name of this song until I saw it here. Thanks for the posting.

  • Nobody of the Cellar times could HIT the opening like the Shames.......Not a garage band like many claim......Great Band and good memories

  • Remrmber this from WLS radio in Chicago. Great group!

  • As a New York Kid of the 60's who would have ever know how many great groups and tunes came out of "The Windy City" Youth is blind you tube is an eye opener.

  • @thepeasantspoet Rock was very regional in the '60's. It was hard for bands from the midwest to be heard in the east and vice versa. It really wasn't until Lenny Kaye's Nuggets that they were merged Enjoy

  • one of thegreat Chicago radio songs- a really true Cryan Shames classic that should've received more play than it did!

  • Chicago band - local hit. Elsewhere - nope.

  • @OffTheCharts365 there was an oldies rqdio show in new york remmeber then they played this but it was too late for it to be a hit in the 80s

  • Chicago memories :) I remember working closing shift at Trac Auto parts in Mount prospect with the Radio overhead blasting WJMK Magic 104 with Dick Biondi playing this and right after going in to Lakeshore Drive by Aliyota haynes and Jeremiah. Chicago really had talent :)

  • Good song. It remindsme of something that the Beach Boys would sing.

  • Good song. It remindsme of something that the Beach Boys would sing.

  • The comments pretty much sum it up: "Romantic and hopeful", Infectious", "Generates excitement"... - all the qualities that made 60's music so much fun!

  • great :)

  • Woohoo back to high school days! One of the very best!

  • what a great band

  • I would love to hear music like this again.....

  • The voices, the energy, the guitars and playing, arrangements of many of their songs, simple yet effective, the songs are great -- very romantic and hopeful. I could go on.... Yes, we need a Chicago R&R Hall of Fame.

  • 2:11 blast.

  • Very infectious.

  • This song still generates excitement!

  • ANOTHER Awesome classic, thanks for posting W-Frog!!

  • I don't care what this song did nationally it should

  • Awesome group. Awesome song. They don't make 'em like this any more.

    toad

  • @chicagorock100

Toad- It would be incredible if you would be willing to have a beer with me and a bunch of friends just to hear the history of the Shames. Your songs and harmonies were memorable. What an honor that would be.

  • @chicagorock100 The Cryan Shames, New Colony Six, The Buckinghams, American Breed, Shadows of Knight and all the other groups from my hometown of Chicago showed the rest of the world what great Rock music sounded like! Chicago Gold Rocks forever!

  • @scanman975

Illinois needs a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Iowa has one, why don't we? All the groups you mentiond would go in on first ballot. Then add Chicago (or CTA when they first started), Styx, REO, Cheap Trick, etc

  • @ktjap cheap trick uses rickenbacker amps there is an atricle in vintage guitar right now led zep did too.

  • @ktjap Maybe ill start a new jersey music hall of fame there is already a state hall od fame for politicians and other snobs it wouldnt just be rock because of many jazz musicians like dizzy gilespie bill evans youseff lateef roland hanna but plenty of rock groups the knockouts 4 seasons critters magicians

  • @scanman975 dont forget the Ides of March and the Mauds

  • @rms0916 Jimy Rogers (The Mauds) passed away Dec 4, 2010 from Cholangiocarcinoma ( bile duct cancer). Jimy was one of my best friends.

  • @chicagorock100 i was kid of 14 when i saw you. 1967 at st. demetrios in chicago. my church. i never saw a band in chicago near as good as cs til the boyzz in the late 70's
