@housepetsfan888 i think it'll run 360p comfortably. any more and it starts getting really choppy. Only the 1.4ghz models with 2gb of RAM though, if it's any slower, no luck with youtube.

@menezesjr861 Find an Apple OSX install CD, pop it in, and as soon as it makes its weird bong noise, press "c". it will load the disc right away. From there, you can reformat (delete) the hard drive and install a fresh copy of OSX

@idontgiveasheet not at all. in fact, i just recently restored an emac with tiger and it runs LIGHTNING quick. it has the same specs as yours, with 512mb ram and plays high-def video perfectly.

so yeah, tiger would be your best option.

I'm slowly upgrading my eMac and I'm sure that you can't stick more than 1gig of ram in it, is this possible? Also can I upgrade the amount of "hertz" in it??

@racing67p All eMacs with 1ghz and up processor can take up to 2Gb of DDR-400 RAM.

By "hertz" do you mean the processor? if that's what you mean, then , no.

@halomasterchief14 The hard drive is easily replaceable for a bigger one. The OS is installed in the HDD, so all you need is an installation CD :)

No, not by today's standards, and beware; RAM for something this old might be a bit pricey.

It all depends on what you are gonna use it for.

I just bought one of these, and installed a 160Gb WD drive, a Samsung SH-S222A DVD±RW drive (Guarantee you it works, as I have installed 3 of these drives in various eMacs) and 2Gb "Apacer" ram - wasn't too happy about a rather unknown brand, but it works a treat!. eMac FTW!!.
