  • YAAYY! finally someone who's doing a tutorial for mono-lids and your make up is a real success! <3

  • Are your eyes naturally that color? They're really pretty :)

  • Subscribed! I have been searching for what feels like to be forever for a makeup guru that specializes in monolids. I love how you have so much knowledge about monolids to share with us. Thank you so much.

  • Thanks so much for this! Like @emmatao16, I'd also really like to see you do a tutorial on your sister - my hooded eyes are so hard to figure out, it honestly drives me to despair sometimes. Getting to see you do the techniques on her would really help!

  • @MsDelmac i agree so much. i was adopted and grew up in a white family. i dont wear make up for that reason. i have always had such a hard time putting make up on that i gave up.

  • thank you so much for sharing your techniques! This is great~

  • I'm asian an i have monolid eyes, but non of my eyes fall into dis 3 eyes :( my eyes are sharp, but nt tt sharp like peacock eyes. My eyes have long outer canthus tt curve upwards (no extra skin, exposed)

  • hey could u do a make up tutorial on ur sister so we can see the hooded monolid look?

  • I unfortunately have the 3rd eye, but I fortunately found your video! This really helps! Thanks! So for the 3rd type of eye, I should not do the gradient look?

  • Look, you look a little bit self-consious, but you should know that you are beautiful :)

  • your eye makeup is pretty/

  • YAY hooded monolid. wow i hate my white friend with big ass eyes and lashes that need to be in a mascara add.

  • i hav hooded eyes and i usually wear my make up this way: i just apply silver eye shadow reallllyyyy close to my lash line. cus if i open my eyes i cant c the eye shadow but when i blink i caann c it. so i blend it out so that i can c a lil bit of it with my eyes open. then i apply black eye shadow reli close to my lashline. its reli interesting when ppl only c the black when u blink. tell ur sis 2 try it!!

  • this was very helpful, thank you soooooo much :)

  • Girl, if you ever wrote that book, I would freakin' buy multiple copies. :D

  • You described EVERYTHING so perfect!!

  • i kinda need help how do you apply makeup if you only have one eyelid!! :(

  • you remind me of snooki of jesey shore!

  • THANK YOU FOR CARING ABOUT US SINGLE LIDDED ASIANS. <3

  • 4:32 looks like Wes from wongfu

  • yes! i got the bobbi brown makeup book for teens and theres one little section for asian eyes and all it was a little tiny line of eyeliner on the top and mascara, and the model looked the same before and after. so frustrating!

  • Your drawings remind me of some pictures of peoples faces that was were on a human body test I took in school. ( Suppose to be a compliment) xD

  • This has been the most informative video on Asian eye eyeshadow application I've seen. Thank you so much for making it! I've put it in my favorites so I can refer to it often.

  • one thing i cant seem to do is get the eyeshadow to NOT look like i got socked in the face. i once went out and my dad thought i got beat. -__- wth

  • I only see my crease if i lower my eyes, or raise my eyebrows...

  • SO TRUE.... GAHHH I LOVE U u speak the truth.

  • I can't help but say this.... You're so cute!!

  • this is such a very helpful video,i always wonder how to do my eye shadow and moset of the people they do their eyes are very different form mine

    thanks a lot

  • thanks so much this vid is great, but just wondering, what if i have two different types? :/ like one eye is like yours, and the other is the double one. uhh i know this is weird haha so could you help me out a bit maybe? :)

  • Thank you so much!

I have always stayed away from eyeshadow simply because I didn't know the technique for my type of eye....Now with your tools I am excited to experiment a bit. Thank you --you are awesome.

  • Thank you soo much for this! I am doing prom makeup for a friend soon and I am about 150% Caucasian and have noo experience doing makeup on Asian eyes. I was so afraid if I just winged it, it would look horrible, but now I'm sure I can do it :)

  • i love this because every book does not have like asian eyes and i really thank you soooo much for doing this. It is sooo helpful thanks<3

  • i am not asian, but i look asian in my face structure and eyes. i have a double lid but very close to the eye with almond eyes (like asian)...either way im always having problems with my eye makeup, but i tried with your tutorial and it really works great :3 thanks for this

  • OMG THANK YOU!! you have been such a help. it is soo hard for me to find make up tutorials for my eye shape.

  • i have hooded eyelids like your sister! i made a channel to show how i do my own makeup. anyone who is interested should check out my channel, and hopefully it will be helpful to some of you!

  • I have your sister's eye. please make some tutorials on her eye! Please, and thank you! <3 - subscribed!

  • this video is actually phenomenally amazing. and its way too underrated!!! D:

  • thank you! my little sister has a similar eye like your little sister. this helped a lot.

  • Very helpful, I'm not Asian , but I have this type of eyes, so difficult to do it right... But thanks to this videos I know what my problem was.... :)

  • i found this so late.. i have the 2nd lid as well. and yes i do have to do my make up that way. sucks huh?? sucks because we have to stick with BLACK... AND BROWN AND REALLY DARK COLOR. lol... really useful! THANKS!!

  • So helpful! Thankyou!

  • I have the small crease eye shape and for me what works and looks most flattering is blending a darker color on my crease bone and using lighter colors in the middle and inner corners. I love your drawings and technique's! They were very useful and informative. =)

  • thank you so much! this is unbelievably helpful!

  • very helpful! :D

  • I thank you so much for breaking it all down. I am not a female who has the "asian eyes"...but I pride myself on learning all I can about everyone's eyes, skin, and so forth being as I'm an aspiring MUA. And I really wish more people would touch on the subject of mono-lids, double-lids, etc.

  • Is it weird that I have two different eye shape? They kind of switch on and off from each other :(

  • Comment removed

  • im not asian im native american and black but i have very almond shaped eyes and it was so hard for me to contour my eyes till i found this its not just asians who have monolids i thought they were till my friend who is chinese told me my eye shape was very close to hers so stared to look around on youtube how to do make-up on a monolid and im soooooo glad i found this!!!!!

  • I love this video thank you so much for so much information! Best spent 25 minutes of my life. However, I don't know how to identify my eye. I know I'm not a small crease obviously but I don't know if my eye is almond or hooded. I have hooded eyes but I don't have extra flesh making my eye into that Asian shape. My shape is actually a nice almond shape like yours but it is still kind of hooded. Suggestions? Thank you so much again!

  • Asian chinky eyes =D

  • love love love this video!

  • you are really good! you should really like the book!

  • Thank you for this. I really wish I had your eyes instead of the hooded one. No wonder I couldn't truly follow your tutorials to make my eyeshadow look good as yours.. mine was hooded! T___T I wish there was a tutorial JUST on the hooded eyelids. It's soooo complicated.. i honestly don't know when I'm going to master it sigh

  • um my left eye is a small eyelid and my right eye is a hooded asian eye...wow HELP

  • -i like this chick. c:

  • Woow. Are you're eyes really green? ^^

  • @IchMagSchwein it's called contacts..

  • @HninnaMonstur

  • @IchMagSchwein it's okay. i was just saying, they're colored contacts. ;p

  • @HninnaMonstur

ah (: .. but it looks good (=

  • when i first watched this video i thought you were only going to talk about the kinds of people that have no lids but i'm so happy you covered the small crease one!! thanks so much!

  • Like? WHERE'S THE LOVE BUTTON?!! I thought I knew what I was doing. But I didn't. I reaaally didn't. This is so helpful. I can't wait to try it out (and just in time for prom). I have eyes like your sister, and I went, "Woah! Its my face." Great drawings by the way. ThankyouthankyouTHANKYOU!!!

  • This video made me subscribe and comment! I don't usually comment but i love your tips! This is definitely a keeper.

  • you are incredible- this video is so helpful- this is EXACTLY how I do my own makeup and it took me YEARS to figure out. I totally envy all the girls just starting out with makeup that get to watch your video- thank you. PS: I have one eye that's a small crease and one eye that is a flat almond. - so I am asymmetrical. it took me a LONG time to figure out how to work with that but this video helps immensley. I know hollyannerae has the same deal

  • you are incredible- this video is so helpful- this is EXACTLY how I do my own makeup and it took me YEARS to figure out. I totally envy all the girls just starting out with makeup that get to watch your video- thank you.

  • i dont know why, but if i she her, i think of Snooki lol.

  • I finally found the right tecnique to do eyeshadow for my eyes! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! You don't know how discouraged I got when I found out that I had sometype of hooded eye and wherever I looked I never found the answers I was looking for until I saw this video I am just so super happy right now. I can't wait to try it out! Again thank you so so very much I don't feel discouraged anymore. btw i have the small crease :D

  • please do a tutorial for your sister's eye makeup on her!

  • Soo On the first picture you showed my eyes are that exact shape but im not asain i am black...so wat are some tips you have for me because my eyes are like asians but im black so what would recommend for me to use for my eye make up ?

  • ummm are you wearing contacts? if you are thats cool. but if you arent thats SUPER cool!!! haha!

  • Thank you soooo much for this! I am african-american with this eye shape, and it was totally helpful!!

  • Awesome tips! I'm 30, Asian and have your sister's eye type. You're absolutely right-there are different types of Asian eyes. My sister has a crease and we use totally different techniques and colors. I've been wearing makeup since 13 years old and have, over the years, developed my technique thru trial and error. Your video would have been so incredibly useful to me in my teenage years!

  • Do the book, girl!! At least try to get it in as an E-book. So many of my Asian friends express frustration with eyeshadow because of their lid and eye shape. I love eyeshadow and tried once to do a friend's eyeshadow and failed miserably : /. Thanks for the vid and the useful tips.

  • First tutorial that's actually helpful for my eyes! Now I realise I've been doing it all wrong

  • This is by FARRRR the best tutorial I've yet to see! So comprehensive, educational, and versatile! I'm an actress and I always cringe at the way the on-set make-up artist applies my eye-make up. And then, I always go back into my dressing room and re-do it anyway! From now on, I will have the confidence to let them know up front that I will be applying my own make-up! Thank you Jinah!

  • i think you were made to make a video like this. :) im serious, you describe all of the concepts well, and if i were a critic i'd just say you definitely passed to state competition- or whatever comes next! x)

  • what type of contacts are you wearing?

  • dude, she looks like snooki!!

  • eeepppoooo!

  • what brushes work the best for monolids? well, like almond shaped eyes like you, b/c mine are almond shape too

  • HELP ME HERE!:

I have the first type of eyes, well, my right eyelids have a thinner crease, compared to my left eye. It folds in alot and its very near my lash line. && whenever i applied eyeshadow && it always cake at the fold of my lid, (not immediately, but after like hours) && its disgusting, i hope you can tips on that? PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? :(

  • my eye is none of the above.

mine is like hooded down(shape wise) but i do have big eyes for asian

but i have a crease/ 1 fold..and it folds about half way on my eye.. so even if i use primer..it still creases... ><

  • There's also eyes where the insides are not pointed because of the fat! The super thick eyes. But finally a video like this :)

  • do you think you can post a vid tutorial with ur sister's eyes? i have the same eyes. thanks :)

  • you look like this youtube girl. campinocream

  • omg, I love this! I just started my channel out and I'm enjoying this asian cosmetic community so much and this video just made sooo much sense to me! Thank you for ur "normalness"! Lydia

  • I always thought that my eyes wore eyeshadow funny just because they were monolid, but from watching your thorough and incredibly well-thought video, I see now that it's also because they are hooded (like you say your sister's eyes are). And NOW I know why eyeshadow often makes me look like I got punched in the face or makes my eyes even smaller! I'm totally using the styles you outlined specifically for my type of eyelid. Seriously, I feel like you've changed my makeup life. Thank you!

  • YOU ARE THE BEST

    :)

  • best asian eye makeup guide ever! seriously you bring out the beauty of asian eyes! i saw some of the top makeup artists when they came to asian eyes they just kinda forced the crease eye technique onto asian eyes and looked horrifying.

please do a makeup book, people are going to be blessed by your book ;)

  • this is pretty awesome!

i love this video and it helped me alot,

i love how you actually drew all the different types of eyes, it helped sooo much!

  • I love this video! You are amazing! I have the same eyes as your sister except I have a little bit more skin on my right eye. It sucks! It has taken me so long to figure out how to even put on eyeliner. I am so afraid of using eye shadow because I just don't know how to put it on! I will try the techniques you showed in the video so we'll see how that goes! P.S. You are gorgeous!

  • you are soooo pretty thanks for the info

  • Finally! answers to my eye shape. i have the same monolids like your sister's and yes its so hard to apply eye makeup on correctly.. =[ but thank you thank youu. Maybe you can show a tutorial using your sister as the model. xD

  • I love your videos. Though I'm not Asian my eyes have a very pronounced Asian look, and your tutorials have helped me SO much. Keep up the good work! You're a lovely girl.

  • Hi Jinah, awesome video! I think the hardest eye makeup to do would be the hooded eye (which is what I have). Could you perhaps do a tutorial on your sister since she also has them?

  • This video was super helpful! Thanks for all your hard work in researching all the info that you shared. And your drawing was nice. No laughing here.

  • I would just like to say thank you for this video...I'm not asian, im a british white girl and I have hooded eyes (the 3rd sketch) which are the bane of my life.....I would kill for a small crease .....People think hooded eyes are sexy like bedroom eyes or something but mine just make me look like a little old lady. Thank you for trying to help :) Xxx

  • What happens when you've got Asian eyes...but with distinct double lids? Like, no crease, but there's a double-lid involved...the non-Asian make up tutorials don't work on me, but these don't either. And I liked your descriptions...care to help?

  • it might be a weird question, but do you play on the piano? ;;)

  • i have eyes like the first photo and when i go out and am looking for a more dramatic look. I like to use my eye socket as a guideline for "the crease". and then i blend!!!! it works for me

  • what if my eyelid folds in a way that I cant wear eyeliner cause it would disappears under the fold when I open my eyes ? Any tips for that ?!

  • @sexychick423backup My eyes are kind of like yours except one eye folds less than the other. :p you can kind of see the eyeliner if I put it on right but then I guess the extreme folding on my eyelid (since it folds under) makes the eyeliner fade and rub off by itself. :( liquid is too intense for me tho

  • OMG!!! THIS IS vid is EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!! THANK YOU!!

  • omg u understand! ive had trouble my whole life trying to figure out how to apply make to my weird eyes to make them look good but i always had problems and still do:( help and thank u!

  • I LOVE YOU!!! I'm starting now!!!!!

  • you're so pretty!

  • Thank you so much!!

    I totally needed this video

I always felt like my eyes were impossible for makeup but you proved it wrong ;)

  • lol you sound like silvermist XD

  • u are so pretty what kind of asain are u?

  • Thanks for this video, I am an African American woman but I have a rich heritage of many cultures and I don't know all of them but I have a small crease so I appreciate you explaining eyeshadow with different types of eyes! This is very helpful, I agree that you should make/write a book! :)

  • omg thank you for addressing not problems, but rather questions about monolid eyes. you've helped a lot thank you!

  • damn man! i have the 3rd sketch eye that she showed us. of cource me the hardest eye to wear makeup!! and this is why i dislike my eyes. grr. its kind of funny though because i just took a picture of my eye to see which one and the 3rd one was like almost exactly like mine lol

  • halleluja!! (sp?)

  • Thank you so much for the great video XDDD

im japanese and i didnt like my eyes before i watch ur video because of my very small creese. and i only had a few pattern of applying eyeshadows. i didnt know i could soo much with these asian eyes, and im so excited to try the techniques u introduced me!!! Thank u so much :D

  • You should totally make a Asian Makeup Book! I think so many girls & maybe guys too will buy it!!! Keep up the good work;) I don't really post but I have to say that this is valuable info!

  • i just wondering, why u can made a long tutorial (about 25 minutes) ? i saw some tutorial is in hurry because they have a limit time.

  • i'm extremely grateful! you should make a book, what's stopping you, right? :D

i'm sure you'll help tons of people.

  • Thank you so much for this video. You've put so much detail and thoughtfulness to help us asians put on makeup. :D you're so pretty. keep up the good work!

  • wow this is really thorough! I love it! I use a lot of the techniques that you talk about here and I can say that it really is the best. haha i wish i had this video when i was first starting out iwth makeup, instead of spending so much time figuring this out on my own. :( yay monolids!

  • cam i also so say my brow bone is just under my eyebrow, so if i use the eye socket thing it will go up to my brow :( I HATE MY EYES mind yu im eurasian so yeah

  • my eyes are a combanaation of the bottom og ur sisters eye and the crease of the first, also my eyelids are really fat and puffy and i dnt have much space between my eye and eyebrow. what can i do?

  • so helpful!

  • wow thank you so much for this video it was so helpful i have a small crease and have had such a hard time putting on eye shadow because it never looked right, these techniques have helped me a lot, thanks again! and can you please do a tutorial on make up for high bone structure it would be really helpful :)

  • Thank you SO much for doing this video. I always felt alienated when looking through magazines and looking at the makeup looks and not knowing how to interpret them for my eye shape

  • Thank you for doing this!!

  • Jinah! This tutorial was so helpful and you are the best! :) I've been researching for a long time and I was always disappointed with the answers. But you gave the best answer ever!

  • make up tutorial on your look please?its flawless and beautiful :)

  • You really helped me a lot with this video (and I suscribed you after just finding you, haha). I guess next time applying my eyeshadow will be much easier! Really thank you :))

  • You are super helpful and you draw really well! It was nice to see a visual image of what you were talking about. Everything was so detailed and in-depth. You make me feel so much better about being a monolid. Please write a book! LOL

  • well thanx alot for gettn back at me, i do thnk it looks really nice on you...ur a very pretty asian...

  • Man, I found myself go "true true !!!" *nod nod* for the whole video, especially the stereotype parts!!!! I bought many books written by famous makeup artists like Kevin Aucoin and Iman, and I hated how I wasted my money on books that does not even mention much about Asian makeup!!!! They only have 1 or 2 pages for Asian makeup for the whole thick book!!!! You go girl!!!

  • this is revolutionary.

  • oh my god, i am in love with you. you helped me so much.

  • very good demonstration!!!! luv ya!!!!! subscribed

  • pls do that book!! i know a zillion people who'd buy it!!

  • WOW very interesting and useful. well done, i respect the fact that you actually wish to make a book about this, to help every asian girl with her make up :)

  • this is very helpful.. i have the first eyes., double lid, but sometimes when i open my eyes wider or apply more eyeliner the crease disappears.. will follow your tips and see if there better :D
