@Dtinva1 they either continue the current of redtone wire (for long distance wires) or they act as a delay switch making the power take longer to get from one point to another

@Dtinva1 the name says it all. It repeats the red stone signal. Notch added a second function, you can delay the signal by right clicking on the repeater. Keep in mind that the arrow on the repeater show the direction the signal goes through.
