You say umm a lot, but otherwise very informative video, I personally have 2006 Grand Prix but its not supercharged. Iv got on that engines in the past and I'm just not impressed with how they deal with abuse. Can't see why GM charged them as a production power plant.
gasket match the Lim and start at 80 grit and work your way up to 400 it takes long enough as it is starting at 400 would take close to 100 hours to do it right
@jubutie Its common practice cause every temp drop you can get is worth it. Anyone saying anything otherwise has no idea what they are talking about. I deal with these cars daily and the owners of them of my forum.
in describing how the valve releases pressure do not remove. i think to be on the safe side blocking coolant passages to the supercharger isn't a very good idea. when your talking a 1 or 2 degree change in air temp to the throttle body, it isn't worth the risk of not cooling the supercharger. those passages are there for a reason, just like the release valve for pressure from the supercharger so you don't over boost. you don't want to under cool.. goodbye super charger.
Now iv seen some people port the intake manifold but they also cut a triangle shaped piece of metal out by cutting from the pressure bypass circle hole (top of triangle) to the top of the large rectangle hole (air dispersment hole). Would you recommend this?
I polished the intake ports on my 00 Intrigue 3.5 24V LX5 Shortstar the ports had a layer of gunk/carbon build up. The intake ports were also very rough so I hand sanded all 6 of them and between the groves where the valves split. I used 400 initially and worked my way up to 1000 they are very smooth. If I ever take my intake manifold off I bet cleaning them would be easy. My car feels a bit faster but I already had CAI K&N RE-0920 Filter with 3.5inch piping also did seafoam exhaust wasnt Ported
I know you were thinking," hey if i plug these coolant passages the hot coolant wont heat up the supercharger." Thus dropping the air density = more power basically a half ass intercooler.... WRONG!!!!
like you said "Turbines that spin VERY very fast" Well..... that will make friction, which makes heat and now you have nothing to dissipate that heat.... so you really did the OPPOSITE of what your going for AND youll probably fuck it up i hope you dont have any road trips to Pheonix planned.
do you have any other tips or tricks? i am getting ready to go and buy a used gtp. just wondering if you have anything i should watch for or any common problems with these cars. just wondering.. thanks
L67s are great, but at heart its just a simple pushrod V6, why didn't GM supercharge the LQ1 (DOHC V6) well I guess there wouldn't have been room, but a turbo would have worked, too many people that want a drive and forget engine that requires no maintenance I guess?
How much can you port the outlet on the supercharger? and if you port the outlet does the inlet need to be ported as well? btw what kind of drill bit did you use for the porting process.
hey man thanks for ur video, i really like it.. usefull but i wonder with what should i clean the gunk thing because i dont really know i didnt take courses m like home made :P ive allready get 80 - 100$ n i bought my oil. i saw couple videos but i dont know what they use to clean it
A gen 3 that is ported functions as well as a stock gen 5 according to ZZP. Then gen 5 doesn't have as much room for porting as the gen 3 so also take that into consideration.
this helped us out. were porting and polishing our head in our civic but now our motor is out getting rebuilt so were proting and polishing our intake. i gtg now but this might help. so thnx in advance
Nice video however I'd like to correct you on a thing or two.
A polished smooth surface doesn't cause turbulence but improper fuel atomization on the intake side, if you have a wet intake. If you have a dry intake like the GTP then the smoother the better.
Also a fully ported supercharger is worth about 10-15hp.
Actually too smooth of a surface in the heads will cause the air to "tumble end over end" causing turbulance and improper fuel atomization. The intake can be as smooth as possible but the Heads can NOT.

how did u learn so much about cars? i would love to learn this stuff
rock813 2 years ago
You learn this stuff from working on your car and looking stuff up online. If you know other people who know alot asking them for help works too.

I took auto in high school and my dad worked for GM and im pretty much a chip off the ol block.
It just takes getting your hand dirty and wanting to take stuff apart and see how it works.

Well I cant give exact numbers but around 20 crank horse and 20ft lbs. Also there should be a improved throtle responce.

Well if your car was new 10-15 but if youve got 100,000 expect to see much bigger gains!
Well put on turbulance
Alldaysteve1 2 years ago
Thanks, you have to remember that a Gen 5 only gives 20hp on a new car and a ported Gen 3 still doesn't flow as well as a Gen 5
JDMGTP 2 years ago
