@MorphCity pat makes a point but its not the entire truth (or he didnt clarify): The British nobles in 1776 had vast economic interests in the colonies, but the colonial elite themselves had the same interests; the Revolutionary War was fought for economic dominion over this land first and foremost.
The people of the colonies were slaves, debt slaves, or peasant class servants. That has not changed in 235 years.
What we call "freedom" is, in effect, a mere shadow of true freedom.

Therefore, to say that the American Constitution was created for and by a small group of elitists is false. The problem is lack of awareness and willingness to act in an effective way. This video proves that the States and justice can prevail with enough support. An attitude of doom is often used as an excuse to do nothing.
