Personally, I think what they meant is that there is not much, or if at all, young asian role models out there. In the media, there is much less accurate portrayals, you know, the ongoing stereotype of what the population think we are (can't speak english, hella smart but socially awkward types). That's probably why we look at youtube and why wong fu is so popular; which is what I think they were trying to get across on CNN.
