You can clearly hear him hitting almost every metal target he shot at, so where's all the Judge haters saying that they'd never own one because they're not accurate??!! Sounded pretty accurate to me! The problem with the video is that it gives no information about the gun at all. It appears from watching the guy shoot that the recoil is not too bad but you can't depend on that because people are so variable in their ability to control recoil.
If a car jacker was busting out your car window to unlock the door, I'm thinking the .410 would be a good weapon to have handy. Nothing quite like a little buck shot or slug to make an impression.
Actually both. You can either fire .45 Colt cartridges which (of course) consist of the usual primer, casing, propellant and bullet components. So in this case it fires "one piece of steel" (actually lead) in .45 colt. Or you can also fire .410 shotgun ammo, so it will fire "little balls" BUT if you fire a .410 slug cartridge, it would fire a "one piece of steel / lead" again :-) confusing aint it? Hope this helps

For a long time the largest grizzly bear ever killed on record was killed by a old woman from Alska with a .22 lr single shot. The bear was not charging her. It was coming down the trail and her and her friend was picking berrys and seen it they hid and the bear walked up to where they where at and as soon as it sniffed the air like it winded them she shot it in the ear or eye. @orbitofdoom16 well, i was kinda proving a point, showing how easy it is to troll... but if you bust ask.... its not so much that the judge sucks, its just that there are much better tools for the job. If I was allowed to CC, I would much prefer a smaller handgun in 9 or .40 with a hi-cap mag. If I was walking through the bush, I would much rather a 12 guage, capable of taking down bear and other dangerous game.... I just cant see where the "judge" fits in.
@lexmark136 Its really hard to CC a 9mm or .40 with a hi capacity magazine. Do you know what buck shot does to tissue? A 12 GA is heavy, and doesnt do alot of good when you are at a distance, and .45lc and 410 are plenty capable of killing bear.
@orbitofdoom16 well then forget the hi-cap.... but either way, most small pistols will carry more than 5 rounds. A .410 slug might be able to take out a bear at close range with a headshot but that doesn't mean you should be using that caliber in the bush! it would be like using a .22lr for CC, just because it CAN be lethal doesn't mean you should be using it for that situation. As for the .45.. it's a good caliber but very restricted when used in a huge 5 shot revolver, i'd rather a 1911
@lexmark136 410 Buckshot, or even some game loads is plenty capable of killing bear. 22lr is only good for small game. A backpacker, or search and rescue teamsmen may not have room to carry a larger caliber weapon(rifle, shot gun-etc). With most 1911s, you only get 2-3 more rounds, not that big a difference to a good marksmen
screw the judge. take that 1911 off your hip and you got 8 rounds of semi auto 45 auto. nothing against .45 long colt, but a 3 inch cylinder just seems like it would be aggravating to carry even if it can fire .410 shells. can it fire .410 slugs? that would be interesting.

The Judge is a terrible firearm. Had 2.5 and 3” versions. 10 rounds into shooting the Judge at my range, it LITERALLY fell apart in my hands, screws and all. Sent it to Taurus to fix it, got it back, shot it again and it fell apart AGAIN. Sent it back a third time, they fixed it, and I sold it to the range who didn’t really want to buy it, but did because I’m a regular there. It’s what you can expect with a Taurus. Home defense? My family is more important to me than a slick advertising.
@Producer317 i like how everyone bashes Taurus and says they are shit guns. because they are far from it. i have never had a problem with any Taurus pistol i have bought in any caliber or model. they all work. even my model 92SS works just as good as my Beretta 92FS.

@sprk14me I took my g/f out shooting a couple days ago and put some rounds through the Judge. The .45LC rounds are incredible and as advertised. The Federal premium 000Buck that stats "410 handgun" right on the box were also great. However, the Rio 3" #8 shot shells expanded in the cylinder EVERY single time and I had to force them out when reloading. Has anyone else had .410 shell problems with the Judge? Again, the federal buck shot ammo was excellent.
@HarveyHenkelmann Huh? Comparing the Judge and the Casull round is akin to apples and oranges. I own the Judge in 3" mag but it still has nothing on the initial velocity in fps nor ft/lbs on the Casull rounds. Go look up the numbers. Also, kind of curious how the round (I assume you mean the .45 long colt?) would "handle" any other round to begin with? If I am missing something, please let me know - just not sure where your comparison is aiming (no pun intended).
@veldaman No, the Judge shoots either .45 Long Colt (not ACP rounds) or .410 shotshells. I am currently using 200 gr JHP blazers( wicked cupped hollowpoint), Maxam Rio #8 birdshot (3" mag) and the Federal 2 1/2" .410 handgun 000 buck (its specifically on the box that it is intended as .410 handgun). The "Defender" model is a little shorter and chambers only up to 2-1/2 but I elected for the longer cylinder in order to chamber the 3" mag.

@shaner1ray The police are just as aware as gun affecianados of the Judge and her capabilities. While it is true that standards bullets can leave info on things like right and left hand twist specific to an individaul firearm, even the lead shot can tell alot. The metal composition of shot (alloys, etc) is often unique to specific loads and mfgr's. LE can also use power stiffling and info on the "wads," if found, to determine alot.
I live in NC, Charlotte where crime is high, as it is everywhere you get persons of African descent living in the US. I carry a standard Taurus snub .38 right on my belt every single day out in the open. There is no license required to do so in this state. No one believes me when I tell them this. I am the only person I have ever sen doing so. I have no idea why this is. After a while you just know it's there. I feel perfectly safe from crime carrying it with me.

@texanbarbi I also own everything from little .22s to the .50 cal S & W with 8 3/8 barrel and everything in between - Kimbers to old school .38 wheel guns. The important thing is that we all celebrate life and carry SOMETHING - our ability to own and carry weapons (while we still can). I usually carry a Glock 21C w/ a Surefire in my beltline and a Keltec .380 in my front pocket.

@JUKIO01 Pulling back the hammer makes the trigger pull easier, and the gun more accurate. It is not necessary for some guns that have a double action function, but not pulling back the hammer manually means that when you pull the trigger, you are making the gun do 3 different things at the same time. this makes the trigger pull harder, and if you don't have an iron grip, makes the gun less accurate. it would shoot a little to the left or right. Does that help? :D
@shock940 The Judge can fire both .45 long colt (longer - more powder than the .45 acp) as well as the .410 shotshells. You needn't do anything to mix and match. Those I know that use the judge as a carry-gun day in day out normally use a mix ie the first three are 000 buck followed by 2- .45 LC. Of course this all a matter of personal preference. Some load it entirely with # 8 shot. Some, like me, leave her in the safe and use something(s) else for protection but I'm STILL glad I have it!
@daveh3434 The Judge is available in both the 2-1/2' "Defender" model and the 3" magnum as well. Don't quote me on this but (I have the 3" magnum) but I believe there are at least 8 different models or configurations of the Judge. It was in the last NRA mag I got also. I will post here again when I get my videos up ( as soon as my g/f helps me with the minor editing stuff. Regards.
Actually jomogogo you're fucking retarded. Say you use a 1/4 oz. slug, which is about 102 grains. Out of a judge it will get 1200 fps, that equals to 326 ft. lbs. of energy. Your average 380ACP round is about 90 grains and will do 900-1000 fps, that's about 200 ft. lbs. of energy. Now who is the fucking retard?
Ok..say you use a 1/5 oz slug then..that would be about 92 gr. Which will go about 1250 fps from the judge. That would be 319 FPE. From a normal length shotgun barrel a .410 slug does 1800 fps.

The problem with the video is that it gives no information about the gun at all. It appears from watching the guy shoot that the recoil is not too bad but you can't depend on that because people are so variable in their ability to control recoil.

Actually both. You can either fire .45 Colt cartridges which (of course) consist of the usual primer, casing, propellant and bullet components. So in this case it fires "one piece of steel" (actually lead) in .45 colt. Or you can also fire .410 shotgun ammo, so it will fire "little balls" BUT if you fire a .410 slug cartridge, it would fire a "one piece of steel / lead" again :-) confusing aint it? Hope this helps

This comment is for the folks posting about the .22lr and killing a bear. For a long time the largest grizzly bear ever killed on record was killed by a old woman from Alska with a .22 lr single shot. The bear was not charging her. It was coming down the trail and her and her friend was picking berrys and seen it they hid and the bear walked up to where they where at and as soon as it sniffed the air like it winded them she shot it in the ear or eye. If I was allowed to CC, I would much prefer a smaller handgun in 9 or .40 with a hi-cap mag. If I was walking through the bush, I would much rather a 12 guage, capable of taking down bear and other dangerous game.... I just cant see where the "judge" fits in.

A .410 slug might be able to take out a bear at close range with a headshot but that doesn't mean you should be using that caliber in the bush! it would be like using a .22lr for CC, just because it CAN be lethal doesn't mean you should be using it for that situation. As for the .45.. it's a good caliber but very restricted when used in a huge 5 shot revolver, i'd rather a 1911

@lexmark136 410 Buckshot, or even some game loads is plenty capable of killing bear. 22lr is only good for small game. A backpacker, or search and rescue teamsmen may not have room to carry a larger caliber weapon(rifle, shot gun-etc). With most 1911s, you only get 2-3 more rounds, not that big a difference to a good marksmen

The Judge is a terrible firearm. Had 2.5 and 3” versions. 10 rounds into shooting the Judge at my range, it LITERALLY fell apart in my hands, screws and all. Sent it to Taurus to fix it, got it back, shot it again and it fell apart AGAIN. Sent it back a third time, they fixed it, and I sold it to the range who didn’t really want to buy it, but did because I’m a regular there. It’s what you can expect with a Taurus. Home defense? My family is more important to me than a slick advertising.

@sprk14me I took my g/f out shooting a couple days ago and put some rounds through the Judge. The .45LC rounds are incredible and as advertised. The Federal premium 000Buck that stats "410 handgun" right on the box were also great. However, the Rio 3" #8 shot shells expanded in the cylinder EVERY single time and I had to force them out when reloading. Has anyone else had .410 shell problems with the Judge? Again, the federal buck shot ammo was excellent.

I own the Judge in 3" mag but it still has nothing on the initial velocity in fps nor ft/lbs on the Casull rounds. Go look up the numbers. Also, kind of curious how the round (I assume you mean the .45 long colt?) would "handle" any other round to begin with? If I am missing something, please let me know - just not sure where your comparison is aiming (no pun intended).

@veldaman No, the Judge shoots either .45 Long Colt (not ACP rounds) or .410 shotshells. I am currently using 200 gr JHP blazers( wicked cupped hollowpoint), Maxam Rio #8 birdshot (3" mag) and the Federal 2 1/2" .410 handgun 000 buck (its specifically on the box that it is intended as .410 handgun). The "Defender" model is a little shorter and chambers only up to 2-1/2 but I elected for the longer cylinder in order to chamber the 3" mag.

The speedlimit is 75 on the Interstate so why on EARTH would someone want a ZR1 that can do 200mph? I also have a S&W mod 500 .50 cal. Do I "need" it? Probably not but I ENJOY it the same way the ZR1 guy (or girl) might like to stay up late in the garage and put that extra coat of wax on it.

@aderuno Also, just curious aderuno... why are you here looking at a "Taurus Judge" such an "off the beaten track" type handgun if you post smack talking about someone's collection of guns and that "there is more to life than that?" I have more in ACESSORIES that some gun collections. My M4 only cost $900 but then after the EOTech site.. the infared Surefire, that single weapon is way over 2K. What do you spend YOUR money on? Comic books? a Barbie Bus? GI Joe with the Kung Fu Grip?

Amen to that brother.After witnessing a spic robbery first hand here in AZ a CCW is very much needed here to keep the trash off/away.Always good to have the option to carry than no option at all.After a rancher losing his life last month to foreign trash a good pistol at ones quick disposal is NEEDED in this/any state.I am not racist because CRYBABY/SHIT comes in all colors and it all cuddles each other to get over on individuals that have integrity--I have noticed here in AZ.

@yippee42 I am also in AZ (just outside Tucson). Sucks that that rancher got murdered by UDAs and then the Pinal County Deputy also got shot not long after with an AK fired by drug smugglers. Now, if I am in my truck, I have my Glock on my right side, a .380 back up in my pocket and the M4 also at my feet. I'm not a doomsday person but there is a huge potential for shit to get deep here. @shaner1ray The police are just as aware as gun affecianados of the Judge and her capabilities. While it is true that standards bullets can leave info on things like right and left hand twist specific to an individaul firearm, even the lead shot can tell alot. The metal composition of shot (alloys, etc) is often unique to specific loads and mfgr's. LE can also use power stiffling and info on the "wads," if found, to determine alot.

I live in NC, Charlotte where crime is high, as it is everywhere you get persons of African descent living in the US. I carry a standard Taurus snub .38 right on my belt every single day out in the open. There is no license required to do so in this state. No one believes me when I tell them this. I am the only person I have ever sen doing so. I have no idea why this is. After a while you just know it's there. I feel perfectly safe from crime carrying it with me.

ok what is up with all the 9mm love on here? A 9mm handgun is a starter pistol thats it, yeah it will do the job but do you ever think about why every nine holds 18 rounds? Cuz it taakes that many if you dont hit em in the head!!! Get urself a 45 or a 44 magnum, leave the kiddy toys at home. I have all three a 45, 44 and the 9 mm is for my girlfriend to shoot, they are great for plinkin but u bet ur ass somebody breaks in Im goin for the big gun!

@texanbarbi I also own everything from little .22s to the .50 cal S & W with 8 3/8 barrel and everything in between - Kimbers to old school .38 wheel guns. The important thing is that we all celebrate life and carry SOMETHING - our ability to own and carry weapons (while we still can). I usually carry a Glock 21C w/ a Surefire in my beltline and a Keltec .380 in my front pocket.

The Taurus 4410 "Magnum" can fire Buckshot rounds as well.
This is a very good home protection (close fire) gun.
I keep it loaded with 410 bird shot to "dissuade" without being lethal, initially, and the last two rounds are hollow point .45 longs.
ONLY drawback is 4 .410 shotgun tends to stick making reloading awkward. My simple solution is to keep a couple of different rounds in the gun.
I like this gun as my wife can hit what she aims at - FIRST try.

@JUKIO01 Pulling back the hammer makes the trigger pull easier, and the gun more accurate. It is not necessary for some guns that have a double action function, but not pulling back the hammer manually means that when you pull the trigger, you are making the gun do 3 different things at the same time. this makes the trigger pull harder, and if you don't have an iron grip, makes the gun less accurate. it would shoot a little to the left or right. Does that help? :D

@shock940 The Judge can fire both .45 long colt (longer - more powder than the .45 acp) as well as the .410 shotshells. You needn't do anything to mix and match. Those I know that use the judge as a carry-gun day in day out normally use a mix ie the first three are 000 buck followed by 2- .45 LC. Of course this all a matter of personal preference. Some load it entirely with # 8 shot. Some, like me, leave her in the safe and use something(s) else for protection but I'm STILL glad I have it!

@daveh3434 The Judge is available in both the 2-1/2' "Defender" model and the 3" magnum as well. Don't quote me on this but (I have the 3" magnum) but I believe there are at least 8 different models or configurations of the Judge. It was in the last NRA mag I got also. I will post here again when I get my videos up ( as soon as my g/f helps me with the minor editing stuff. Regards.

Actually jomogogo you're fucking retarded. Say you use a 1/4 oz. slug, which is about 102 grains. Out of a judge it will get 1200 fps, that equals to 326 ft. lbs. of energy. Your average 380ACP round is about 90 grains and will do 900-1000 fps, that's about 200 ft. lbs. of energy. Now who is the fucking retard?

Ok..say you use a 1/5 oz slug then..that would be about 92 gr. Which will go about 1250 fps from the judge. That would be 319 FPE. From a normal length shotgun barrel a .410 slug does 1800 fps.
