This song is MY heroin(e)...an injection of an instant feel-good-all-over aura every time I sing along to it !!! It takes me back to riding in the back seat of my Dad's Plymouth when Edison LIghthouse, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Lobo and Three Dog Night were ridin' high on the AM Dial ! Thanks for Sharing ! : )-
Wow, does this song bring back memories.......in jr. high school or younger.......used to sing to all these songs........yeah, they weren't the Led Zeps or Aerosmith's of our day, but they brought a "feel good" nostalgianess to alot of our lives.........love it.
To add to my previous post Tony Burrows has also backed Elton John and Cliff Richard. Who says that the 60s singers were a thing of the past? They are still with us in one form or another unlike the Simon Cowell karaoke wannabes and silly girlie pop groups who are here today and gone tomorrow back to stacking shelves.
Here's another song I loved so much from my childhood! I'd hear it on my mom's 8-track tape, monster hits, or the radio, as we traveled along in her car to who knew where! Peace and Love to All, BobbyK
Tony Burrows, the lead singer, hit BIG in Feb. 1970 with this. Then in March 1970 with "My Baby Loves Lovin" (White Plains) and April 1970 with "Gimme Dat Ding" (The Pipkins). Later in 1970 he hit again with "United We Stand" (The Brotherhood of Man) and finally in 1974 with "Beach Baby" (First Class). Basically, Tony was THE "band".
This band were a studio band. They were only ever seen on TV and heard on the radio. They never played on a stage or toured. You may find that apart from Tony Burrows, most were not at the recording.
@NearAbbeyRoad You couldn't be more wrong. They all toured extensively both here in the UK & Europe. They gigged with the likes of Chuck Berry, Canned Heat & Roy Orbison. They also recorded several versions of this song. Dave Taylor, Bass went on to record albums with John Allcock (Thin Lizzie) in LA & still gigs now!
"That was the Partridge Family's 'Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted', followed by Edison Lighthouse's 'Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes'. This is K-Billy's Super Sounds Of The '70s Weekend. Just keeps on...truckin'...."
I love this song, thanks for sharing. My best friend had a sister named Rosemary and I remember she was in high school at the time and its as if this song was wrote just for her. I remember sha was so cool. GREAT song.
@wantinsome2 My girl was classmate named Christine and she epitimized what this song was all about....a free-sprited girl who I loved....and I was only 12.
