  • RIP Eva Zeisel. She lived to 105 a very long life.

  • Fantastic.

  • "The Playful search For Beauty"

Our New City neighbor..."still" working now 103 years old..

  • she is beautifull

  • thank you for presenting this video, mostly, thank you to Eva Zeisel. She sets the bar high, truth and beauty!

  • just proves if you're passionate you don't have to retire and stop doing the things you love... she's very inspirational.. I want to grow old gracefully like her!

  • If you found her inspirational how about Doris Eaton Travis she's 105 and still kicking up her heels on broadway

  • thaks God.

  • I am shocked by the beauty and the originality of her designs.

  • "I call myself a maker of things. I don't call myself an industrial designer, because, among other things, industrial designers want to make novel things. Novelty is a concept of commerce, not an aesthetic concept."

    Awesome...

  • Beautifully expressed, I agree.

  • Mesmerising... wish i'm as bright and witty if I ever last past 90.

  • so...she makes pots?

  • lmao

  • iam hungarian, but i never heard of her. donno why?

  • Cuz you're a jew.

  • 14:35 Are you sure?

  • Brilliant!

  • She is incredibly innovative for someone who isn't trying to be. :)

  • you need to learn how to shut up and respect your elders, you're sitting there whining like a fart.

  • I'd like to see you when you'll be 75... show some respect!

  • 102 actually.

  • She's 94, but has worked for 75 years...

  • I hope when i am old like that people will still show me enough respect to talk to me like they talk to people of their own age and not just go around disrespecting me by kissing my ass all the time.

So she is old and spend her life making pottery, how fantastic! What a wonderful woman, such an amazing rolemodel.

I don't care how old she is, she still needs to speak up if she wants my interest.

  • "keep it down oldtimer! we're trying to watch the game!"

  • bellybusterr... I don't think she wants your interest. I could understand her perfectly... maybe you need to get your ears checked or something.

  • I'd like to hear you when you're 94 years old. She is 102 right now, this vid is 8 years old.

  • yes! Playful search for beauty..what a wonderful way to describe how one goes about creating something lovely out of clay. We are all clay!!

  • She's wonderful... an inspiration.

    Thankyou for posting.

  • Nice pots, and that's the understatement of the year!

  • She's beautiful person.

  • I wish someone would record all what she wanted to say and post it on youtube... a kind of video biography if you will.

  • Wonderfull!

  • fantastic. thank you TED for providing such diversity in your talks

  • What a remarkable woman! At 94, still very witty and creative. I truly loved this presentation.

  • just checked wikipedia, this video is 8 years old, she turned 102 this November.

  • What I like best is that she is very CLEAR about her intentions and motivations--and that they are her own, and not influenced by superficial cultural changes.

  • a fantastic role model in that sense. 'i wanted to fulfill my personal goals, so i used my dedicated training and creativity to do so.'

    fucking brilliant.

there was a blacksmith shop just down the road from where i grew up. it had been there since.... 1811 or something like that. it had been passed through a few families until about ten years ago when no one wanted to carry on. it's been destroyed and now it looks like a rite aid or small shopping center will pop up. "progress" they say...

  • ... getting old will suck :)

  • This lady has me under her spell!

  • Eva Zeisel born Eva Amalia Stricker, 13 November 1906 is a Hungarian industrial designer known for her work with ceramics, primarily from the period after she immigrated to the United States. Her forms are often abstractions of the natural world and human relationships.

  • What a lovely woman. Thank you for posting this. A 75-year career, wow!
