Ah, great memories. I don't think the sound effects hurt it that much. This was always my favorite segment on "Sesame Street"--plus the song (another great Pointer Sisters song) stays in your head for decades, which is a good thing! Have y'all seen the "Family Guy" episode where Peter starts a church praising the Fonz? It has a small segment with Stewie inside a bubble-ball that re-creates the "pinball number count" perfectly--only with the Stewie ball instead of the pinball!

When was this version done? They added goofy sound effects and/or new background music EVERYWHERE in that show. Do they assume somehow kids are too bored or stupid without it. Anyways, #7 is on hand, the user 1204120 has it (at least for now). Also, it's possible to find #3 (it's in Dutch, but only the way the numbers are said is different).
I don't think the sound effects are THAT bad. Then again I've ALWAYS liked clever finishing touches. I remember the sound effects that were added for the "Ringmaster" series; the crack of the Ringmaster's whip, animal sounds, etc.
Being an old-school fan myself, I can understand why you might not like the new sound effects; they usually annoy me too. Still, the sounds make sense for a pinball game--so I'd give this version four stars, as opposed to five for a "clean" copy.
