its auto for the first year - yes. applecare extends it by another two - making it three overall.

sorry , I believe you are wrong. One year is free, apple care is a three year plan, so if you waited a year, then got the applecare, you would get 4 years coverage

you cant turn up a year later and ask for the applecare plan. yes, if you want to pay the full price of £160 at the end of the first year - be my guest. to get in on the discounted rate of £47, you have to buy it with your Mac i.e. on the same day, in the one transaction.

Holy crap you need a lot of usb ports. Also, pc's so many usb ports because they are really thick and big. My mom's Dell inspiron is bigger then my monitor, its a monster.

Also with the battery cover, I saw your last video and just because you have 600 views doesn't mean that many people have the problem. If you search aluminum macbook your vid comes up. I watched it out of curiosity because I am buying one soon.

lol - as its my main machine, I have a lot of peripherals that need to be connected from time to time (printer, memory sticks, webcam, transferring files over from my digital camera, iphone etc). Regarding the battery cover, I think it was just a faulty batch.

I'll make this short - portability or not? Very simple. Both machines are good. Macbook was good for me as I can take it into university. If you are going for the iMac, wait until after MacWorld as a spec bump is due for the iMacs.

basically it extends the one year limited warranty that came with your computer to three years and telephone support from 90-days to 3 years. it does not cover accidental damage/loss/stolen

Not at all. Its a warranty plan - if anything goes wrong with your computer within three years - your protected. Accidental damage is not included (your house insurance covers it).

Nop, you dont have to install anything. Infact, my box is still sealed (I havent opened it yet). Applecare is added on via back system on Apples network. You dont need to do a thing - apart from paying the price for it :D

When your at the checkout stage of the Macbook, it will ask you for any extra components that you require. At this stage, you can choose to buy the 4GB ram (there is an option). However, that said - I would recommend you buying your RAM elsewhere as you would save A LOT of money.

i have upgraded my RAM on my iMac to 4gb from 2gb, can i still get apple care, or when something breaks on my iMac will they blame me because i have changed the RAM myself

You can still get Applecare. When you do have a problem with your iMac, Apple may ask you to take your RAM out and then bring it in for repairs. They won't say "because you opened your computer and found incompatible parts - we're not going to repair it". They will simple ask for it to be removed prior to booking your computer in the store.

Both machines are future proof. The .4mhz difference in processor speed is not that significant. If it were, I would of gone with it but for what I do - I don't require it. Backlit keyboard - I don't look at my keys when I type, I couldn't justify getting this feature plus I have my macbook connected to a HDTV and use a wireless keyboard (most of the time). The extra bit of hard drive - I didn't need much as ive got external hard drives lying around ;)

The slanted keys dont affect me, nor to the majority. As I said in the video - you don't even notice it until you look at it very closely. I didnt even know I had slanted keys until I read other people moaning... I checked mines closely and found the two 'F' keys slanted. Not bothered to be honest :)

Good review. I wasn't too sure on what the new MacBook was like, as I've only used one at an Apple store for a few minutes. It seems like it's a very good computer, just like the previous MacBooks. Do the slanted keys affect your ability to type at all, or are they just simply cosmetic problems?
