  • I'm so happy to watch this again. It was a great discovery as a special feature on Ari's comedy album.

  • Love this video

  • You make some great videos, but can I ask if you will do one for the German Substrate hypothesis?

  • You eat pork, you raise pigs. You eat chicken, you raise hens. You eat beef, you raise cows & steers. What you eat is germanic derived, what you raise is french derived.

  • @metzger90

Essentially, yes. Interestingly though, English is one of the few languages cross-linguistically that has distinct words for an animal, and the meat of that animal.

  • wow......huge amounts of win here!

  • Bloody Normans!! How dare they make England french!? Because of them, we no longer speak the English language the way it is supposed to be spoken! Damn You Billy!

  • Surely, the last commenter can't be serious... Great video. I really your style of humor. You should keep using the background music from your Verner's Law videos, it adds to the whimsy.

  • Sorry...but that's not even close to a guernsey cow, which throws your whole exposition into question. Maybe you need to do a little more research about cows, and then most likely about some other things you assert as facts. Or maybe you just need a better (more informed) artist.

  • even during break there is always something to learn from herr hoptman
