  • @AnakSaNusantara: Its part of similar ensemble music known as "Nobat" in Malay, its used as the court and wedding music in the Islamized areas of the Nusantera. Even in Sulu, the Tausug play the Saunay oboe during weddings

    Various Muslim areas around the world have similar types of court and wedding music with similar reed-instruments and double-headed drums as the main instruments, so this style of music in Southeast Asia is most probably originally from the Middle East via India :)
