  • That would be if your doing it for a job. I'm gaining knowledge to protect against unfair laws. Knowledge is key.

  • i definitely cannot afford an LSAT course, but also think it pretty difficult to afford that many books...so i borrowed books from friends, and found a particularly useful torrent seed to download a whole bunch of LSAT books and past tests---message me and I'll send these materials to you (and "Like" this comment so other people notice it too :) -- just want to forward the favour on!

  • Personally, I think this is good advice. I think a lot of people are mad because they simply haven't figured out how to crack this test yet. And, as far as law being a scam, I believe this comes from people not thinking rationally. You're not getting a JD from a Tier 2-3 school and having 150K jobs thrown at you. Especially now, I could see how people aren't being hired anywhere. Do what you want to do, not what makes the most money, and you'll be happy.

  • Fake

  • Don't be another victim of the "Law School Scam". Our nation has been overproducing attorneys since the 1970s and stats suggest that traditionally only about 54% of all lawyers find jobs in the legal profession, anyway, and probably a much smaller percentage for new lawyers over the past decade.

Before you go to law school do some research, search for these blogs:

  • The LSAT is a logic test. You don't need to spend all that money on all that crap. What you need to do is take a UG logic course and get a solid book on fundamentals.

  • why would you go to law school and get in $100k debt and end up with a job that pays $48k a year? better yet, YOUR LAW JOB is being outsourced to india because they speak great english there and law does not require a physical presence in most cases! do NOT go to law school unless you like being in debt and working 80 hours a week. awful life/work balance!

  • So how much you getting from PowerScore/ Nova to promote their products?

  • Why do you say that power score does not have an approach for reading comprhension? They have an entire book on reading comp, which you did not mention!

  • (This video is just crying out for a lewd troll comment. While I usually do not engage in such things, I will step up this once.)

She can prep my "materials" any day!!

  • aha this is such an ad, exact same lines as the penny girl.

  • Great advice Katie. Anyone prepping for the LSAT can check out our LSAT tips.

  • Katie, how did you know that you wanted to be a lawyer?

  • I am also a candidate to marry..lol

Katie: let me know if you plan to marry in 2010. Marry me.

  • marry me LOL

  • taking the lsat in june. thanks for the advice!

  • Took your advice mami and it is working wonders good looking out for the advice your sexy and smart wish i had you for a study partner. Peace and Love

  • Honey:

Thanks for this info. I am sitting in feb 6 2010 exam. Please provide me your email so I can ask some question

  • thanks for sharing. you're very pretty.

  • did you get accepted into law school?

  • @j24ules Yes she did.

  • any tips for scoring a 160 and higher on the lsat?

  • Powerscore actually just published a Reading Comprehension Bible. It's pretty good.

  • How long did u study and what kind of score did u get (if i may ask?, if not its ok). One thing u didnt go over is the end of the test , and that is the essay? how was that , what did they ask ? how long did it take etc..

if you could answer these questions, thanks again

    Scared Green Student !

  • Hi, thanks so much for posting this into. I am thinking about taking the LSAT in the next year and a bet scared about it, as i have gotten a Barron's Pass Key, and it scared me. I am in the 2nd chap and have no idea what i am doing. Looking for a book to help me understand the methodolgy of the test (best ways to read the questions and how to go about answering them).

  • I'm 120 pages into PowerScore Logic Games. It is truly great. It does not leave me thinking, "How did they get that?" in the answer keys like another book I used.

  • Yeah, I've heard good things about PowerScore. My friend used the logic games and logical reasoning books almost exclusively and took tons of actual tests. He got a 174, missed 5 questions. 4 of 5 he got wrong were in reading comprehension. He got one logic games question wrong, so Powerscore helped him get all but one of those two sections' questions right.

  • THANK YOU

  • Thanks Katie you are also a godess.

  • Hey Katie thanks for the advice!

  • hi Katie, What program do you use to edit your videos? Que programa usas para editar tus videos?

  • So how much did 'powerscore" pay you for this?

  • Ahh you know honestly there are so many people that say "how much did powerscore pay you for this" but honestly the logic games bible is the BEST book I've ever read to help me study for my LSATs I'm writing next month.

    It really helps!

  • Powerescore is the hottest out right now, no doubt.

  • so how long did ya study for the test?? which lawschool did ya get into?

  • thanks. Good advice!

  • Penny's LSAT tips are way better.

  • "hard work and knowing how to approach the test" You hit the nail right on the head. I wish I knew that earlier; it took me four months just to change my approach from "oh my god!" to "bring it on". I agree with your purchases: the powerscore books along with actual editions of the test (available uptil june 2008), are the ONLY way to go. unlike the GRE or other tests, there is no imitating the questions on the lsat no matter who you are, kaplan or princeton R.,

  • kaplan only uses actual lsat questions.

  • el perro de san roque no tiene rabo porque vino una y se lo ha jalado

Que alguien traiga sal de frutas y una tirita

  • Hey Katie, how many hours a day did you study? I have almost all of those prep books and im taking the october test, but i'm already starting to sweat a little. Feels like it's coming tomorrow. Are 2 hours a day everyday enough? Did you go longer?

  • Shit man im not in college yet and im really really willing to go over my limit to see how hard the LSAT i no i hve a lot of time but i need to get into a good law school when the time comes!

  • LARD

  • Agreed. The LSAT is an extremely learnable test. While inherent aptitude certainly plays a part, a standardized test is a standardized test.

  • I have three of the four study guide books mentioned. yay! :0)

  • Pretty cool, for more LSAT tips check out my video!

    Luv,

    Penny

  • 1. LSAT score does not necessarily parallel intelligence level

    2. She doesn't come off as dumb IMO

  • very valid point, Frackal--if the LSAT were a true IQ test, there would be no point to studying, would there?

    :)

  • @Frackal MENSA uses the LSAT as a measure of IQ. And guess what, smarter people tend to score high on the LSAT, and dumbasses usually get sub 140's.

  • @Frackal let's not forget bill, sergy and his buddy, and of course steve, all college dropouts who are the wealthiest men in the world. bill gates, sergey brin, steve jobs that is. use college as a backup but if you are talented, you will go much farther.

  • hi, this jalil i have a question for u how did u with time is was challenging??

i will take my test in october 2008

  • my goal is to break 170 on the lsat.

im going to get all the powerscore books u mentioned, plus the flashcards they sell for the games

for arguments, i am using the princeton review LSAT workout strategy because it is very specific.

im pretty scared for the reading comprehension section because I havnt read much my whole life and i dont think i have a super reading speed gift

  • Katie, you could be one of the most beautiful and intelligent girls to ever post a video on YouTube. Good luck at whichever Ivy League law school you decide to attend.

  • "that's my parrot" haha..thanks for the info! I'm taking the LSAT next year sometime and I'm already starting to study for it. Thanks again for the tips!!!

  • Her advice is pretty poor. The powerscore bibles are not good. What powerscore does is a marketing campagine online. They hit the message boards and websites. These people are already good testtakers. (160) you will improve just by pratice with no methods. So the people who study their bibles and take their class have higher scores because of the market they target. I took the course. And bombed the LSAT along with my classmates because their methods are for people are mathmatical and techinial

  • I respectfully disagree with your opinion here...

I'm betting you had a lousy LSAT course teacher (not common with the better prep companies, but it happens).

Not everyone can score 170+, but anyone using solid methods can improve dramatically-- everyone does need to adapt advice and resources to their own learning style.

Will you be retaking the LSAT?

  • i also have to disagree w/redskins the lsat is truly about hard work, what katie said was right about the lr bible is right. that section is mostly about sufficient and nescessary conditions, at first the bible wont help, but after several qs you will begin to reason as the makers do from the lsat. practice, practice, i havent taken the lsat yet, but i will soon.invest your money and time on courses.like the lady from the powerscore told me is that the lsat is truly about the effort you put in it

  • redskins i wish you the best of luck, the lsat is truly hard. but you can master the lsat after you dedicate several hours a day for several months, monitor your score. time yourself rigorously during your practice sessions, bc maybe the time constraints could have messed you up.katie was also right about the reading comp section; the passages are similar to the articles from the ny times etc. but most importantly never give up and stay confident.

  • hey HI, ! wich school did you end up to ??

  • How long did you study for? months? I have been study (not hard core) for 2 months, and have 1Month to crack down. Should I wait till June, or just go hardcore?? - I know ultimatly it is my call, but would app. your insight-

  • I took the class in Oct, and ultimately took the test in June. But I didn't study the whole time! I think I studied for 2 months with the class, took a break for a semester and then studied hard for another 2 months. If you're doing well on practice tests, take it in Feb! If not, wait until June and study hard. My only rule is that you should take at least 4 practice tests before the real thing.

  • Thanks for the info Katie! BTW, What kind of Parrot do you have? I have a green cheeked Amazon. Good luck with Law school!

  • I have an African Grey--she makes an appearance in my "Tag!" video. Amazons are amazing...best of luck with your studying!

  • Thank you for posting this video Katie! It really helped me in my studying--both your book recommendations and your advice about believing that a high score is within you.

I actually took the TestMasters course and did not find it very helpful. They are very lecture-intensive. For study books, the PowerScore books sold on Amazon are the gold-standard.

Thank You again for this video and all your help and advice! You're a very talented person! Be sure to let us know where you decide to go! -Neil

  • You've inspired me in my hour of need. Thanks. Which PowerScore course did you take?

  • I took a full length course. Happy LSAT vibes to you!!

  • I'm in the midst of studying for the LSAT now, and I have to say, 174? Amazing. Elizabeth Wurtzel got into Yale with an LSAT of 160! What gives? This test is hell-I took the GRE and got 640V 520M but only 489Q-that will not do on the LSAT. I'm going to buy all of the books she stated.

  • well, Elizabeth Wurtzel is a rockstar author which probably helped Yale overlook her lower (but highly respectable) 160--I bet her personal statement was incredible. Good luck to you!

  • Thank you katie. You are an inspiration to all of us who have decided to take this exam. I wish you well on whatever school you attend.

  • @katiedivina And Elizabeth Wurtzel also failed the bar exam TWICE in New York, and is not an attorney (until she passes). She did NOT belong at Yale. Her "fame" (and not her ugpa/lsat) got her into Yale. With "pass/fail" grading, the hardest part about Yale is getting admitted.

Great job on your 174 - that's an elite score. It's too bad you'll be surrounded by assholes in law school. You seem very nice. I missed 3 questions on my LSAT - so I'll let you figure out my LSAT score.

  • I know some will find what i'm saying rather ridiculous.. but I'd tell them that everybody's different and sometimes it's a matter of perspective.

  • BTW, I don't mean to be mean when I say that.. and it's not that I don't think you look good, cuz you look very neat and professional and all, but it's kind of like drawing attention away from your great words.

  • You have great advice and knowledge about it, but it might be a little more proper, or at least make it a little better, if you wore something a little more modest. That said, congrats on your LSAT score-that's a super-high score. The advice should work for GRE too?

  • i literally signed up to point out how much of a douche bag this person is (very much) aww that felt good

  • just to clarify...im talking about adelRX7. great video =)

  • thank you so much! im buying all the books you recommended

  • you are welcome! best of luck to you!

  • thanks Katie for your help and support, and Congrats on your LSAT score

I wish good luck for you and I hope you will applying to the school that you wish, whether is Harvard or Yale.

  • Thanks for the tips. Are you interested in selling any of the books?

  • I'm planning on taking the LSAT at the end of September/2007 and I'm so nervous. I hope I do as well as do did. What law school are you going to by the way?

  • Good luck on the test! I'm applying to schools at the moment and I don't know where I'll end up but the options are very exciting. :)

  • You go girl!! Congrats on your score! You are amazing.

  • 174, damn thats good

  • you got an amazing score--what law schools will you apply to?

  • Katie,

You have some great tips. Although I'm not taking the LSAT I did take this pretty huge PRAXIS test this afternoon on the Unversity of Utah campus. I think your tips can apply to any major test. Study hard, and don't believe you'll leanr information by osmoses.

    -Garrett

P.S. You're one of my favorite YouTubers.

  • Thanks Garret! You're right, the same concepts I used to do well on the LSAT can work for any test. Congratulations on completing the PRAXIS test--what do you hope to teach?

  • I've been teaching 7th grade Utah Studies and 8th grade U.S. History for two years now... this will be my third year as an educator.

  • Thanks for the info-- I will be taking the LSAT's soon. . . .
