If the West intervenes very early on in such conflicts (and signs of pending genocides appear very early), short fast interventions can do the job in many cases... Most perpetrators are coward thugs... if we had dropped a few bombs on Hutu facilities, those machete-wielding sickos would have run like chickens shitting bricks without major loses to us (an intervening Western force). Obama is running on a promise of withdrawal in 16 months, not "best case scenario 16 months." Obama is making promises he can't keep. He's a lightweight on foreign policy and given the fact that we're entrenched in two wars that aren't going well, it would be reckless to elect him. An Anti-war speech does have consequece- rallying the people against an illegal war. I'll admit that it doesn't have as much weight as, say, a vote authorizing an illegal invasion of Iraq, which is a clear illustration of Clinton willing to make a sacrificial lamb out of a country for her career.
