If the mouth had a 9,J or a Q what hands are you getting value from on the river? none really; he's checking back any One Pair most of the time. Wouldn't you value bet 2 Pair or a Set IP on that flop (or raise pre with any Ace or any Pair for sure)..I know it's easy to dissect hands when you can see the cards, but it's pretty clear the mouth could have nothing just by his betting patterns lol
Daniel Negranu and Mike the Mouth are two of my four favorite pros on the circuit, along with Phil Helmuth and Phil Ivey. Dan needling Mike after Sexton showed the three was classic, as was the Mouth's just sitting there and taking it for 15 seconds.

bet the flop mike, you donk, selling a turn ace (badly)??? sexton has to think if he had JT/KJ he'd proly check the river (and maybe value bet the ace 30-40k). easy sitting here i know (90% i fold the turn anyway), but the turn bet got him into trouble.

You take the same # of players, give each seat the same hole cards with the same board. Replay that scenario 10 times and each time might call for a different move. It's about betting patterns, reads, and your opponents. Youtube pros make way too much of the actual cards in play and not enough of the ppl holding the cards.

Knowing how Mike M. plays and he has the button, he is likely to bet and steal the pot if its checked to him both flop and turn. And with any pair there Mike S. is able to call since that Mike M. is capable to blow off his money Daniel just over hyped the call thats all.
Now if Mike M. raised preflop and bet the flop, turn, and river that would been impressive if Mike S. would have called that.

Not an easy call. It was a beast of a call. Calling in that spot with bottom pair is going to have a massively negative expectation against pretty much anyone. If you're calling with bottom pair in that spot all the time, you're most certainly a losing player. Sexton has said that the call was based on his knowledge of Matusows play that he had attained from watching hole card cams on WPT.
It has nothing to do with a "book explanation" where it was an "easy call".

I also think the bet on the turn might have been a little bit of a tell for Sexton as well; the way Matusow threw the chips out like, "what the heck no one else is going to..." Sexton is not in the Hall of Fame as a player. He's there for his early work growing NL tournaments, online poker, and televised poker. He was on the frontier each step of the way during the huge growth of poker. He's very deserving of his HOF spot for his work and for his class.

its an easy call. he checks the flop, so he was okay with taking a free card, either cuz he has no hand to protect, or he has the hearts. then matosow bets the ace, which isn't believable cuz if he had an ace he would have raised pre 3 handed. then the river bricks. sexton checks, and if matusow had any showdown value at all, like if he hit the river jack, he'd just check it and hope its good cuz nothing would call a bet. so when he bets ts either flush or bluff. for that price, im calling.
That's sick. But if you know the mouth, he bluffs alot of hands. What looks like a difficult call to most players was in reality a 50/50 call vs. Matisou with a pair of 3's. Remember poker rookies, know your opponents!
God if i played against Negreanu at first i would be in awe then would just want to beat the hell out of him as he takes me apart and plaughs about it.
he is a commentator because he knew the dangers of gambling, thus you'd have to have something outside of poker going for you in order to play well. if you depend on poker too much in life you will end up broke and depressed. that's for sure.

its an easy call. he checks the flop, so he was okay with taking a free card, either cuz he has no hand to protect, or he has the hearts. then matosow bets the ace, which isn't believable cuz if he had an ace he would have raised pre 3 handed. then the river bricks. sexton checks, and if matusow had any showdown value at all, like if he hit the river jack, he'd just check it and hope its good cuz nothing would call a bet. so when he bets ts either flush or bluff. for that price, im calling.

That's sick. But if you know the mouth, he bluffs alot of hands. What looks like a difficult call to most players was in reality a 50/50 call vs. Matisou with a pair of 3's. Remember poker rookies, know your opponents!

he is a commentator because he knew the dangers of gambling, thus you'd have to have something outside of poker going for you in order to play well. if you depend on poker too much in life you will end up broke and depressed. that's for sure.
