  • Well, Jesus taught "turn the other cheek". Dawkins doesn't really address how that "finishes first" in the a world of survival of the fittest. The reason he can't is because the teacher of that phrase didn't finish first here either. He was crucified. He said the world will hate you (if you follow his teachings)... the sooner we understand what a bad state we're in the better. Anyway- my main point was that this lecture by Dawkins doesn't prove evolutionary love. Love is from God.

  • @doveinturkey Love can't be from god because god does not exist.

  • Damn, Dawkins was pretty sexy ;)

  • @Clarkgasm Was?

  • @Clarkgasm - Did the video make you want to meet him in an elevator?

  • @zxcv1234vcxz Oh yes.

  • I don't see how mutually beneficial behavior is "altruistic behavior". This doesn't address the possibility of "turning the other cheek" or "loving your enemy". Why would anyone believe much less teach these latter ideas in a world of mutually benefiting species or individuals?

  • @doveinturkey Definition of ALTRUISM

1: unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others

2: behavior by an animal that is not beneficial to or may be harmful to itself but that benefits others of its species

Seems Webster's Dictionary dosent disagree. Why would people teach turn your cheek or love your neighboer? They arent teaching that. Those are just catchphases that embody a deeper sentiment. Even if they are teaching them ... do we do them?

  • who gives a shit about the soccer game! get on with it!

  • i think everyone here should watch the Dr. Robert Salposky lectures

  • A good book on this subject is Mutual Aid : A Factor Of Evolution by Peter Kropotkin

  • sooo bees are the descendants of a group of humans? subject by subject he can have a great view but overall he talks in circles. just an observation

  • @2rainmalt No he just says that humans and bees have some things in cummon, not saying we are their ancestors.

  • @gumme1234 my sarcasm is so subtle. since his position is of evolution, i was sracsticaly proposing that a bee gene infected the apes he so wants humans to descend from. my proposal is not a serious one- co-operation does not exist if the selfish gene of both groups doesnt meet a natural need. circle conversations i find he has

  • @2rainmalt well it is obvious that he needs to repeat and explain every variation, because creationists can't do it themselves

  • @koyima psychological content is primitive in thinking when applied to humans . it is however early works of darwin. nevertheless his topic has nothing to do with the origin of creation. hes just observing animal tendencies of the ego. here we go again with razy americans that cant coverse with out talking of god whether in bad or good. forget about god-

  • i guess the selfish gene is typical of animal behavior. maybe this wwas the need of sciptures. to elevate yourslef from your ego? i dunno- he certainly reduces humans attributes to be greater and accepts we cant evolve above our "genes"

  • Yay! the year I was born.

  • @SkyFortStudios Yay me too :D

  • co-operation is not a natural instinct the description somewhat out of touch with "The Selfish Gene" book.

  • back up for a second.

I can clearly remember Dawkins giving a speach to some guys from the Tory party. I thought he was a member of the tory party?

  • cute professor .. too much?

  • does it mean premature ejaculation? no wonder girls like bad guys

  • eeeeew @ 4:39

  • @Venustarr you think it's nasty but it's just nature.

  • he was younger but his voice is the same ! unique voice though !

  • @Nashhinton you are injecting your ideals into the wrong arena. If you want a 'kindly' atheist to speak to, feel free to PM me. I come from a family with Muslims and Christians and I assure the people here that the majority of them look at religion as something personal. It's peaceful for them and it works for some people. Your assumptions about atheist and muslims are very wrong.

  • @Nashhinton I'm sorry about your father, but that doesn't mean that every Atheist is like that.

  • @BotBlink94, Thanks for your concerns.

  • @Nashhinton wtf? you're completely 180 degrees WRONG. i don't know what rock you're living under or what books about what big assholes athiests are you've got your nose in, but you can't see reality very clearly. athiests are the people who NEVER speak up about their straight-forward belief, that's why dawkins is trying to get athiests to be more out there. but stupidity and ignorance is obviously a family traight for you. Fuck Head.

  • Comment removed

  • @shcnoozlebop Whatever point you were trying to make has been ruined by your unnecessarily violent insults and name-calling. Your ignorance and stupidity is shown by acting like a jerk in response to a stright-foward opinion. Why would you call someone you don't even know a "fuck head"? That pointless insult shows me that you are a rude and thoughtless person and your point is utterly worthless because of it. You are just a troll.

  • Dawkins is sooooo cute!

  • @szafraniecamanda He's an ape.

  • @szafraniecamanda even now that he is older!!

  • Richard Dawkins is smart, but he has obviously been affected by liberalism/political correctness. He should have studied the policies of the British National Front, before making inaccurate statements against it. Very silly thing to do for such a smart man. It is also a shame that Richard Dawkins does not have the courage to be a consistent evolutionist, and acknowledge that there is no place for a universal morality in a world without a god. God is dead - long live Nature, and MIGHT IS RIGHT!

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 would nietzsche want you to copy and paste his philosophy(complete joke with a slight amount of seriousness). i agree with you there i no universal/objective morality. that does not make might right. one can use nietzsche to disprove nietzsche. there is no universal so therefore might is not always right. nietzsche wants us to disprove him.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi. "MIGHT IS RIGHT" is just a way of saying that force rules and there are no absolute moral rights. You would probably enjoy the 'MIGHT IS RIGHT' book, by Ragnar Redbeard. I have read it six times. I have given many hours to studying Nietzsche's writings. People have many different ideas on what Nietzsche taught. I believe my interpretation of Nietzsche is correct, but I am willing to change my ideology if somebody can convince me I am wrong. This has not happened yet (lol).

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 might is right is a universal in itself. its not your interpretation of nietzshe that is wrong, its that nietzshe was wrong. I am saying by using his philosophy, you can disprove his philosophy. might is not right, thinking it is right is subjective. might is right is not a universal truth.

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 because there is no universal morality, it is our job to give the world morals before morals are given to us. we have a blank canvas for us to paint morality on. many thinkers after nietzsche have used parts of his philosophy and dumped other parts. to believe in it fully is bad faith. existentialism does not end at nietzsche.

  • @AtheistAnarchoRudi " we have a blank canvas for us to paint morality on" Particularly, I think we should paint it in a very sadistic and rational way. Bwahaha >:D

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 Dawkins also does not believe in absolute morality....

  • @WarmongerWW3. Are you saying Dawkins does not believe slavery is absolutely morally wrong, regardless of where and why man practices it?

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 Exactly, since he is a rational person.

  • @WarmongerWW3. Does Dawkins believe slavery is absolutely morally wrong, regardless of where and why man practices it? Please give me a straight answer to my straight question.

  • @WarmongerWW3. I agree with Dawkins, then.

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 Me too.

  • @NIETZSCHEAN14 Dawkins - Absolute Morality

    watch?v=dxdgCxK4VUA

  • RD > HD.

  • @monkeyman337 The sun isn't at a 'perfect distance' away from earth. The earth doesn't orbit in a circle, sometimes its farther away and sometimes its closer. On January 3rd it was 5 million km closer than it will be on July 4th this year. Not only that, 71% of the surface of the earth is covered in water so we cant live on it, and there are deserts and frozen land we cant live on either. That isn't even including tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis etc.......

  • @monkeyman337 If The ancient princess gaunschuala isn't real why is the sun at such a perfect distance away from the earth?

You see, you aren't providing proof for anything you are just claiming, that because things are as they are, then there must be a higher power behind it, which is a irrational way of thinking.

and by the way the god i mentioned before princess etc. said: All others gods are false, and that she created everything...

You have no proof you're just spewing bullshit.

  • man I wish I could do the nasty with him. His brain and his accent get me worked up I dare say.

  • The Selfish Gene was an awesome, fascinating book. I really enjoyed it, and that is the book that got me so interested in evolution. the book made so much sense of nature to me.

  • dawkins is so gay, even his body language has a lisp

  • @fanaticastype Well that comment just shows how evolution is random and can result in mutants. LOL!

  • @johneamer my father fucked your mother, thats how i was born, pretty random and selfish act.

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, he was a hottie.

  • @MotherNikita yeah but ur cum taste like garbage

  • @TickleMehNancy Actually, the last person told me it was a fruity kind of taste. Also, it really fucks me up that it took four months for someone to comment on my absurd post. Thank you.

  • @MotherNikita you're a fucked up cum guzzlah

  • @TickleMehNancy Are you really trying to start a fight over the internet? If so, grow up.

  • @MotherNikita no u just said it fucks u up...nvm...

  • @TickleMehNancy Well, I guess it was a bad way to put it, you're right on that. But where did you get to the conclusion that I love to guzzle cum? Also, what is nvm?

  • @MotherNikita idk i think every1 likes cum once in a while.

  • @TickleMehNancy ZING! That was a good one. I guess that explains my original post.

  • He's more like a celebrity for those that also like to sound smart. Arguments and exploitations are all very well but I feel bad for the lack of imagination and close mindedness that this man has. I don't want him to be wrong... I'm not religious.... I just don't respect the image he gives science. He spends more time with a camera and the public than his so called interests.

  • @Dolphidood He may use T.V. as a medium for imparting knowledge & why not - considering more people in the western world watch television than read books? To me it seems a very effective way of educating people which is his primary intention rather than your implication that his motives are some sort of ego-related, self-glorifying form of vanity.

He's using the best possible resource to inform, educate & challenge traditional patterns of thinking for something he feels passionately about.

  • @sleepypoodle True but I still intuitively from the fact that he makes claims that suggest Godlessness is a fact think that he isn't after the point of his scientific studies which is truth of the results and proof. He also talks very arrogantly and presumptuously about subjects and that leaves a lot of space for critique without having to be very pedantic at all and along with inappropriately exposing creationists makes me think otherwise... Good scientists do more research than talk.

  • @Nashhinton

    Wahahahahaha, funny!

  • Comment removed

  • @Nashhinton so let me summarize:

Darwin adopted ancient pagan belief in evolution of species?

Why than is evolution hailed scientists as one of the most crucial and influential ideas not only for biology. (also for example in computer science)

Why didn't they just opened a history book?

You lack of knowledge is dripping of every line you've written above. It embarrasses me to know, that such intellectual diarrhea has sprung to live in a human brain, in my closest family, if you will.

  • @Nashhinton

    Pagan beliefs ftw!!!!!!!!

  • @Nashhinton haha troll

  • @Nashhinton Stop watching fox news and watch real news and read books.

  • @Nashhinton Failed!

  • @Nashhinton Dude, propaganda has evidences against it. evolution and global warming doesn't. HUGE differences. Hope you're not brainwashed by any propoganda or religious dogma.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nashhinton Great, thanks to let us know that you are mentally damaged. Now we don't need to believe in what you are saying.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nashhinton Probably because you're irrational in your syntax.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nashhinton You are very ignorant. I guess you are mentally damaged. No need to try to apologize, I already know that you are trying your best trying to find that right word.. =]

  • He sure does like to ride bikes

  • This guy is an example of Social Darwinism: survival of the most vulgar.

(That is what I heard; I don't know anything about him.)

  • @parafleet You shouldn't believe everything you hear. People don't like him because he's very direct and doesn't mince words. In other words, he's honest.

  • @rooley I don't know. I try not to get involved when two sides start to throw their shit at each other.

  • @Aladoniss Being a scientist and religious is okay. But those who believe the Earth was created 6,000 years ago, are just plain ignorant and stupid.

  • @MrBlackjackGuy Personally, I wouldn't have much respect for a scientist who is a theist, it's just too much of a contradiction and one seems incompatible with the other.

  • @Aladoniss Now here is what i keep hearing.life was so simple millions of years ago, that 1 cell.needed only 1 amino acid and 1 protein, and one tiny chain of RNA to live....

ok, where are these organisms? make them in a test tube if thats all the ingredients u need? only in the minds of atheists and evolutionists..do these so called primitive cells exist..and thats some FAITH!!!!..NOT TESTABLE SCIENCE !!!

  • @Aladoniss Im not an atheist man u must have misread it..i no longer believe in random time and chance bullshit..

  • If you ask me, evolution acts primarily on the individual's desire to see their genes spread, but there might still be a secondary 'good of the species' sort of thing going on. Which can be brought back to gene survival, seeing as how a member of the same species still naturally shares at least a minimal amount of genes, and far more genes then a member of another species.

  • @Shavarnarak Good point, only a note: the individual's desire to see their genes spread is also "gene-guided". I mean, there are genes which prompt this, which is an instinct for many animals, but also a "desire" for some others (us).

  • @danesbenoit I can understand that. Personally I want kinds, don't know why, because when you think about it logically what would I get out of that? Nothing! My boyfriend wants kids too. Not now, because he thinks about it logically he doesn't, but when I asked him he didn't hesitate. Why? It's coded! That, and their beautiful wonderful little things. :) See, secularists have souls, right? lol

  • @NuPheonix You obviously want kids, for the reason i've previously explained. There is nothing bad about that, we are machines perfectly evolved to spread out our genes, there is no purpose, it's only a consequence of our long evolutionary past, but since it's also a beautiful thing, why not do that?

The only thing i clam is this: accept your (our) nature, live it, but do not invent well looking "purposes" just to justify your actions. Always think sceptically and seek for answers ;)

  • @NuPheonix of course the last part of my comment is generic, i'm not refering to you directly.

  • Some of the game theory introduced by John Maynard Smith can be quite complicated when applying it to humans but it is interesting to consider.

  • i'm confused, someone explain to me how soccer works!!! D:

  • quite the sweener werent u dawkins in ur day?!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you for uploading. very educational.

And erm...I can't help remarking that he must have been very attractive in those days. What a good-looking bloke!. o_O

  • lol Richard Dawkins is a flower child. Free love and orgies for everyone~

  • Show me where the "selfish gene" is located.

  • wow, dawkins looked great in his young days. not to say hes ugly now. now hes got the wise old man look.

  • most awful music

  • good and interesting football analogy im looking forward to the rest of the documentary =)

  • As George Costanza would put it, I say this with an unbroken record of heterosexuality, but there's a good-looking guy.

No wonder he married a Time Lady.

  • If you like such things

  • i know some religious people who cant handle the reality of you scratch my back il scrath yours.

  • Dawkins is sexy.

  • Dawkins was snazzy looking guy back in the day

  • Survivability from an evolutionary point of view is simply how good you are at reproducing and passing on your genes. Anything that will help you accomplish that better will be selected for.

  • i think that we've evolved beyond the point of survival of the fittest to a point of survival of the smartest. from survival of the selfish to survival of the selfless.

  • @alvisc2002 I think we have evolved into "survival of those who have the best contacts".

  • @alvisc2002

i believe that humanity has evolved beyond the laws of darwinism at least in t he west.

The majortiy of humans in the west can survive wheter they are fit, smart, dumb, fat or handicapped, everyone survives long enough to be able to reproduce because we help our sick and stupid, this has one benefit thought it provides us with a large number of humans wich means its easier to cooporate since we are so many.

  • rolling on the floor laughing at kazakAigul (with a big notice on AT)

  • KazakAigul has an inalienable right to believe in whatever he believes and I respect that, but his post is nothing if not downright ridiculous. Dawkins is writing his dumb books to exploit vulnerable humans!!!! Wow. In which category would he place Kent Hovind, Ken Ham and Ray Comfort?

  • Dawkins in one of the finest products of the western civilization. Reason. humanism, intellect and and a razor-sharp intelligence all combine in an incredible manner to sculpture the sublime mind of this great man. A true specimen of homo sapiens sapiens.

  • @KazakAigul

Wahahaha, you're really a GREAT comedian!

Where will you play your next show?

    Hilarious.

  • @KazakAigul Sometimes evolution dictates a subspecies is doomed to extinction. That's you and your sad buddies. So it's true enough, for you there is no future, no evolution, just extinction. You won't be missed borat.

  • @KazakAigul I would say that your critique of his "dumb books" has value, as you are so educated, but I really can't make that assumption can I? It wouldn't be reasonable, considering your command (or lack thereof) of grammar and language.

  • @KazakAigul alright, the burden of proof is on you to prove this statement. Where is your evidence...?

  • @KazakAigul keep writing so i can read it to laugh and cheer up when i am feeling sad miserable and fucked up in life. your honesty is simply amusing.

  • @KazakAigul dumb books like the bible? oh no, you mean dumb books with hard evidence to back up the theories...so dumb. Why can't we go back to the days where we blindly followed superstition and rumours?! we live in dark days.

  • @KazakAigul oh-no evolutionists.... this guy is on to us!! He knows evolutionary theory is just a hoax and scam to make money. We are sooooo busted! How could we be so dumb? I mean, creation is obvious.. just look at trees!

    -PLEASE observe the Sarcasm.

  • @KazakAigul If anything Dawkins is trying to help people from being so vulnerable. They actually believe there is a magical sky daddy watching your every move and if you dont believe it you will burn and choke and suffer forever... BUT he LOVES YOU!!

  • @KazakAigul You are such an idiot, I pity your ignorance and furthermore any children you may have. I hope your children are more open minded than you and get a chance to read scientific literature.

  • @KazakAigul This sort of comment is what "What the fuck?" was created for.

  • @KazakAigul You got one thing right. . ."human beings are so vulnerable.

Sadly, you're living proof of this, my friend.

This is not merely sad because you are "proof". . .but sad because you are "living".

  • @KazakAigul Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha

  • @KazakAigul

    you sir are a joker.

if there was a god, he would not b so silly as to allow a silly character like u to b spawned

  • @hrishi31 Hahaha you sound like virgin.

  • @KazakAigul a great satirist

  • @KazakAigul I bet you're an American.
