@Rusty0918B MCI was bought by Worldcom, which in turn was bought by Verizon (once known as Bell Atlantic) once Worldcom drained all the money out of MCI. AT&T was bought by SBC (once known as Southwestern Bell). So, who won? It would be easier to say who lost. Look at your local bill, your cell bill, or your VOIP bill. The extra $25-$35 you spend on taxes, fees, and other BS charges gave the some Baby Bells the muscle to avoid real competition and dominate the local and cell telephony.
What's ironic here is that AT&T lives on, MCI on the other hand was bought by a company that didn't exist around the time this commercial was made.

Yes, the company did exist. It was called (primarily) Bell Atlantic.
