How very interesting. This gives a unique insight into perceptions at the end of the Witchcraft ban. Of course, when your dealing with things such as a woman who was buried 300 years ago, she would not have been classed as Wiccan or shared a neopagan belief system, so you cannot interpret anything pre 18th century without knowing more about archaeology and history.
He always has time to chat each year I visit with my brother. I think my brother has a whole new respect for the Craft thanks to a 5 minute chat with King!
I have the DVD with all this on (Legend of the Witches - Their secret rituals revealed), its a very interesting watch and a good buy for anyone with an interest in the Craft its history and practices also an insight into Alexander Sanders and his coven practices.
Well, sorry about misreading your reply....however I will Instruct any who I think need it.....don't like it, dont read it!
Back to the topic:
With most Witches of that era......it was most likely used for both mundane and magical usages........the only part I dont is the part which the narrator says the Witch was using the cradle as a means of contacting satan......that age old shtick!
First you apologize, which is nice, but then you completely negate your apology with your following words.
Don't like it don't read it? That's absurd! How would I know I like it or not unless I read it, and it is a comment directed at me, so of course I'm going to read it.
And again, bearing in mind when this vid was made, it makes sense that they sensationalized everything. But still it is annoying, hence my remark/point about the griddle and kettle.
er... pre-wiccan witches did sometimes get in touch with the devil or lucifer. Many today still consider the devil very important. Not satanic per say but it depends on the path and when christianity was common, the devil would have been called upon for aid in different situations, especially negative acts. Just because it isn't common in Neopagan practice doesn't mean to say it hasn't been done or isn't still done.
When I was young witchcraft had some power. Witches retained some Mystery, Some, Majesty.
now I see only silly people who we all know too well, and wish would just go away, and grow up

Lucifer in paganism is not the devil. So we don't get in touch with the devil. The devil is a Christian concept.

Just because you're witch, doesn't mean you're a pagan.

But thank you for uploading this--fascinating, tho the makers seemed to enjoy focusing on some misconceptions.

Oh please, she probably used the griddle to make pancakes and the kettle to make tea. Of course, bearing in mind what year this was made in . . .

And you, Wiccan2288, need to pay more attention to what you read before *you* reply! I said GRIDDLE, not CRADLE.
Do not presume to instruct a stranger who you know nothing about.

It really wasn't too dark maybe just a trick of light really I mean it is in black and white isn't it?
The museums changed quite a bit since cecil's time . . .

It`s made to be dark I think, Witchcraft isn`t in truth dark but a balance of light and dark - or should be! :)
