  • SHould have used the mastering on this youtube audio track as well

  • what's with all the dislikes. There are tips here. You muppets.

  • The video title might call it 'tips' but he was only trying to answer the questions. I find his videos quite helpful anyway.

  • you suck you talk too much thanks for no tips!

  • As always only talks a lot of talks and nothing valuable... Why don't you stop posting this useless videos!!!

  • Danny Byrd is a gent and rocks my grooves

  • All this effort and people still listen through apple iPod headphones :L

  • @AngelDubstep really true man! I gave up earphones a while back and never went back, it's just not the same

  • plese the serialnumber ??? =)

  • @ADvsSPchannel BUY IT MATE! .. >8(

  • AAMS Auto Audio Mastering System (google for it)

  • I dunno about you but this has taught me alot about mixing down :|.

  • Tips?

  • No offence but. Too much talking, not enough walking.

  • Any person that heavily limits a mix before mastering is clueless. Limiting is ALWAYS the last stage of ANY master. Thats mastering 101. Its got nothing to do with energy of a track ect. Learn to properly mix your tunes down via EQ compression whatever it is separately on each INDIVIDUAL track. Once you limit the mix you kill all the dynamics and blow up whats already existiing and to have that mastered more does nothing but DAMAGE your sound. As for dubs, vinyls get mastered differently then CD

  • @Tranceform8tion no offence mate but as he's had 2 successful albums out i wouldnt say he's clueless about what he's doing

  • @jakmattix

No offense taken. The success of his albums however have nothing to do with his mastering skills. I am talking as a person whose been doing this longer then he has. Any mastering engineer will tell you do not limit your mix before having it mastered simple as that. Ask any engineer don't take my word for it. I am not questioning his musical abilities those are 2 completely different subject matters. Just saying he is giving tips that would make any engineer cringe. Louder isnt better

  • @Tranceform8tion oh right. Out of interest then mate, whats your views on pushing tracks to the limit before they go off for mastering? Meaning that the mix before mastering has been pushed to the level just before distorting. Does that make sense?

  • @Tranceform8tion your completely right in what your saying limiting your master buss before you send it for mastering is pointless, -6bd peak level is the standard normally, some buss compression ssl G comp or Neve 33609 to glue the track together nothing to heavy handed as it cant be undone, my preference is the Neve if your doing anything with really nice lows, and if your gonna master your self check out the sonnox range of plugins the limiter and inflator are amazing sonically better then oz

  • @Tranceform8tion - Theory, theory, 101, & "rules". When it comes down to it, it's what sounds best in the end for each individual "song". Whatever he did, it sure worked on Gold Rush from the album being discussed and also playing in the background of this video. It plays on vinyl better than any DnB tune in my 13 year collection. It's tighter, clearer, and just that much more BANGING. Danny Byrd knows what he's doing for "liquid/dancefloor" DnB so for anyone making that style, listen closely.

  • do something real!!!

  • ozone is very good for mastering, not for the whole mastering, but for multiband compression, eq, enhancing, stereo imaging and mastering reverb... i mean, everything but the limiter, i prefer other multiband limiters, but i always use ozone as a part of the mastering.

  • useless

  • no wonder hospital records mastering sounds so bad

  • Comment removed

  • no tips, just thoughts on his own mix and genre and saying ozone here and there

  • schwuchtel

  • Bla bla bla

  • hello,

does it run with windows 7 64bit?

    best regards

  • A lot of talk, but no real tips.

  • @appmanga no one gives out there secrets... thve worked to hard for it!

  • Gold rush is the best mastered track i've ever heard. The levels are perfect not to mention the song its self. You can pump it soooo loud on a system and it sounds great. Really really impressed.

  • nice,man 5/5

  • Ozone is the shit! When you learn how to use it properly, it takes your tracks from amateur to Pro sounding easily.

    Worth EVERY cent.

  • @King31395 I just got ozone and Its changing my way of mixing so far..i used to do everything with Waves plug ins and while its all good and handy...IZOTOPE OZONE takes it to that next level! im satisfied...

  • Izotope are ass holes and rip people off seriously! Pathetic customer service..F***CK that ozone crap..jack of all trades master of none

  • Started as an artist, than produced, now Im trying to learn mixing and mastering. Gave me respect for the engineers who go unsung behind the scenes.

  • @PadroPadro22 yeeees -> you actually see how hard it really is to make beats! production is very underrated

  • This software is fire.. I got it free with all the effects and everything.. I'm in love with it..

  • me too but i just dont know how to fully use it,

  • I think this can be great on individual tracks, but I think it should be used sparingly unless you're attempting to master your own music (which is what most unsigned artists need to do anyway)... I think that if you're sending your music to labels you need to leave the mastering to a professional, and send a pretty raw output. Depends on where it's going.

  • A good mastering engineer won't limit or compress more just for the sake of it, If he hears that the track needs more he'll add it but not as a default thing. Only bad MEs does that because they don't know WTF they are doing >XD

  • Will Ozone 4 run in Cubase? -Derek

  • yes i use them both

  • it runs in any software with vsts n shit

  • yes. I run Logic as well as Cubase and Izotope works on both.

  • Of course it will.

  • limiting heavily before sending to be mastered..?

    hmm..

  • as long as it isnt on the master bus affecting the overall mix. there isnt anything wrong with limiting specific tracks. although most engineers dont want "any"limiting before hand.

  • Of Ozone itself? Not that I know of...then again, I've never tried.

Haven't seen it any other color than how it appears above.

  • nice track at the end ... i want ozone

  • Great investment! It really is :)

  • Can you change the color scheme?

  • who cares?

  • This kids gonna be far our

  • I've tried the ozone demo and the compressors and limiter are really very transparent. Also, the harmonic exciter is great too.

The visual feedback means that if you know what you're doing and are paying attention while listening, you can do a pretty good job mastering. Not as good as a professional, but pretty darn good!

  • I have ozone 4 and you are right, the compressor is very effective yet transparent. Some how it compensates for the loss of frequency while compressing or limiting.

  • anyone knows any tutorial on how to master with ozone 3? (I'm a begginer, help plz)

  • ozone is friggin genius...

  • Big up Danny Byrd! one of Hospital records finest... dnb is a spiritual thing if you can't feel it then listen to cotten eye joe...

  • PAHAHAHAHA yeah man :D

i live near this guy ;)

  • You a bath lad?

  • Yeaaahhh bwoiii, near there anyways, got bare gigs coming up in bath mind :P

  • so then don't watch it.

  • hi anyopne know of any software free preferably or otherwise cheap that i can use to compile some of the samples on danny byrds new loopmasters sample album really wanna get it but pointless if im just gonna be listing to 3 second samples anyone?? also im a real novice so nothing to techy thanx for any replys

  • It's horses-for-courses, but I use it as the "Icing On The Cake" on the master channel of Acid Pro 6. No need to EQ every channel. The presets are very good and need very little tweaking. I generaly use the 'CD Mastering With Extra Widening And EQ' .. works a treat! I hope this helps.

  • ive been doin the same as u .using ozone 3 with acid pro 6 and the cd mastering with extra widening.i put the anolog setting to digital x2 and add very little reverb and my harmonic exciter on tape adds alot ov extra life to the music .its better than not using it on your music but u still need the studio quality and proper mastering to finish everything off but its a good little tool without a doult.i also use izotope trash

  • Is Ozone used just on the master channel of a music program? Or do you use it on other channels. I'm just wondering if I should EQ every track with Ozone and then use Ozone on the master channel.

  • You should only really use at at the end on the overall mix!

  • It has a lot of different settings, and many of them are designed for individual tracks like drums. For example you can apply it to one track and configure it to use _just_ the limiter, then also put it on the master and set up completely different parameters.

  • you can also use it on group tracks eg drums but make sure the track doesn't sound too flat.

  • I have heard that plugin. Ozon is very usefull thing!

  • Can I use Ozone in Reason? I use to use Ozone 3 all the time in FL Studio but I wanted to expand my beats so i made the switch to Reason.

So can anybody help me out and give me some info on how i could mix my sound in Ozone after making the beat in Reason?

  • reason doesnt support vst instruments or plugins..

  • get a rewire host like FL studio toghter whit reason and plug ozone into that

  • i'd use cubase or nuendo as a rewire host personally x0

  • Thats why reason is sooo gay you always gotta have somthing else...

  • Lol, why should anyone wanting to expand their beats switch from the endless possibilities a VST sequencer can offer to the limitedness of Reason? bad move dude...

  • Ozone is awesome. I use a few other "mastering" plug ins but Ozone is one of my favorites.

  • hello danny! might be a mistake to keep the limiter on the masters before handing out to the mastering studio?! on one side you got "your sound". on the other side any adjustment (eq,...) of the master will demand to bring back down the level. and in the end it would be brought back up to the max. one maybe damaging process too much? sorry for my english ;)

  • cemski, what he's saying makes sense.. as you play a track in a club long before it's released... and you need it doing heavy things ,everyones tunes fights for the biggest sound without tripping out the clubs PA ;-) . remember he said 2 versions, which is pretty standard for people testing tunes in a club long before release.

  • I love Ozone. Been using it on all my progressive house/tribal house productions. The EQ is detailed and transparent. A little goes a long way. The limiter is awesome. Pretty complicated piece of software to learn. Glad you guys are putting up these videos. MORE PLEASE!
