  • Woah! Raw! Soo Raw! This is just all so rawly raw for sure like a sore raw whore... Learn a new word!!

  • What year is this from? 'Cause I'm not wild about the bass in a few parts, and as much as I love D'amour's work on the EP, I'd rather blame him.

  • This is sexy.

  • sounds like a nasely teenager.

  • tool is great

  • Damn, Maynard is so raw in this...... love it.

  • AWESOME!

  • I fucking miss this good old raw-style Maynard!

(Maybe, that late emo hippie dj wannabe he's playing nowadays is beyond me.)

Could someone suggest me plz some upcoming hopeful artists, who should be able to remind me of that good old angry-warrior-sounding?

  • @Aveszedelem I found out about this Australian band Cog that came out in the late 90s and sadly just disbanded. They are a 3 piece and now one of my favorite bands ever, up there with Rush and Tool. They are easily one of the best bands to ever come out of Australia but because they are hard rock and ant-establishment they aren't well known around the world. I would highly suggest that if you are a fan of Tool or talented rock for that matter you check out the band Cog!!

  • @420Guitar420 Hi, thx for suggesting this nice sounding band! (That awsome drumming in Problem Reaction Solution reminded me, what was for me always the most important trait of Tool's music.) Although Cog really had a lot of good ideas, IMHO not too much within each song... Maybe, that's why it comes too often to repeating sections without climaxes, so "there was always something missing" for me. However, I could recognize, that I'm rather for the melancholic style of Floating Me or Katatonia.

  • @Aveszedelem Hey I'm glad you gave them an open-minded listen. Thanks for the response. I like Cog because of the musicianship and originality of their music. It's fine to have different tastes in music but it's really cool that you gave them a listen. Cheers!

  • @Aveszedelem

Check out Deadstar Blues!!! They're fucking incredible!

Try checking out Rajas as well. They opened for tool a little while ago. The vocalist is something to be desired, but the music is so there.

If you want some hardcore drums, try Atomship

  • @gergenfonchen That's what I've found:

Deadstar Blues: intro, intro, intro, AWSOME SCREAM, than the sleep continues -- I just couldn't have enough patience for their recordings... (I'm too tired today.)

Rajas: I've found only old live recordings -- there was nothing wrong with the vocalist, the stuff was just not my style.

Atomship: YEAHHH! That's definitely something for me! (Why I can find no live recordings and only one music video from that band?) -- Thanks for suggesting, I like it!

  • @gergenfonchen I've finally learned to visit Danny's page for the Rajas vid you've mentioned -- awsome drumming as well! (Note: as an anthropologist, I should adore all and every kind of world music. However, I didn't find amongst them too many exciting stuff till now, but listening to some tribal kind of drumming will be always my favourite recreation. IMO ethno music focused on other ways of performance is mostly for the chill there.) Why can I barely find other vids from this band on youtube?

  • if you can't fucking appreciate raw maynard, you were never a tool fan to begin with. get the fuck over it being something you're not used to.

  • dude i love this version

  • Def. Not a cover dude,

  • Because I'm Bad, I'm Bad-

    Come On

    (Bad Bad-Really, Really Bad)

You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad-

    You Know It

    -Michael Jackson

    BAD

    ahuh ^^

  • So raw

  • this is a cover

  • @TheMinority453 ... yeah, someone managed to steal the exact samples that Danny Carey uses on his Simmons SDX pads, homofag

  • @boecke91 this is not keenan's voice. if it is.... well keenan sucks

  • @TheMinority453 probs better than you at singing though right? and more successful, aww feelz bad man

  • @boecke91 yeah, better than me, but not a great singer. man i'm not a singer!

  • @TheMinority453 You must be some kind of stupid....

  • maynard doesn't need a mic.. you can fucking hear him over all the instruments.

  • everyone sounds so much better in this one...

  • lyrics?

  • I like this cause its real. It doesnt have 28 guitar tracks or special effects, it sounds like 4 people jamming.. sounds real. love Tool! Btw, How did you get this? Ebay or something? cause I would expect Tool to keep these things well hidden.

  • i like this better it kinda pure in a sense

  • So yeah, I've been playing guitar for 7 years and can truly say Tool is my all time favorite band, both musically and lyrically. Tool, they all just kinda take my mind, split it up, and put in their pockets until I change the song I'm listening to. Anyways, I type all this to show that I mean no harm when I ask this question: Does anyone else think Maynard's voice from 0:34 to 0:46 and 1:35 to 1:47 resembles Weird Al Yankovic's voice? Maybe just a little?

  • @simpledesign37 ha, I love that when it comes to Tool, you feel the need to excuse yourself for making any form of criticism. They're still human mate, don't forget that. Maynard sounds like ass in this recording, no two ways about it. He is also one of my favourite vocalists.

  • Great... now I have to change my panties...

  • It's not rare anymore, It's on Youtube.

  • Raw Tool just sounds so much more . . . punchy-in-the-face, if i can say so.

  • @Dunph8312a I would love tool to do some raw shit like this for a show... almost acoustic in a way... just raw without effects, just them and their guitars, vocals, bass's and drums. no synthesizers

  • I like it its real. true sound

  • Hey check out my band Neurotic Pleasures. We are new and growing fast! . It ROCKS! Check out " A Burden" let me know what you think. Go to reverbnation or myspace and search Neurotic Pleasures. Trying to keep music from sucking!

    Dagger

  • First bassist too

  • lyrics are different.

  • There is something really special about this version of Stinkyfingers. I don't really like maynards vocals during the first half or so, but once it gets to the breakdown... it just almost feels like some other version of Tool. Like there was a path they could have walked down, but inevitably didn't. Tool's creative leap from hard and heavy to trippy and esoteric between Undertow and Aenima is really fascinating. Somehow this version just sheds light on that leap. Kinda cool.

  • @elusivEuphoria I agree comepletely, other than the fact that I love the vocals in the first half.

  • @ProtstTheFuckingHero They aren't too bad. I just think he's a bit to nasally, when he sings the part "to breath, to feel, to know im alive!" he hits a really hard E sound on 'alive'. It sounds whiny to me. But the studio version, he sounds more (for lack of a better word) epic as if coming from a place of greater wisdom and experience. It just suits my tastes a little better. :-/

  • @elusivEuphoria Ya the studio version is definitely better than this one.

  • maynard sounds fuking pissed

  • well i prefer the vocals of the final cut but Im diggin the gritty guitar and from 3:30 on AWESOME

  • it's funny, he sounds like on undertow in the chorus, but changed that into another style in the original recording...

  • Vile Chink Cheating

  • wel deep forest night bird is ok grinzz

  • not enough. i need more. nothing seems to satisfy. well maynerd you have become such a power figure your senses feel lost. when did this acure because only you can change.. we just watch and listen

  • na początku jest flet? O_O

  • o polak :D

  • @klopcuch no siema xD

  • @klopcuch lol :D

  • the ending needs a bit of work

    .

  • the breakdown@2:20 sounds better in this version. The drumming has a kinda primal feel to it.

  • its still a great song even tho it is not finished my gosh tool is friggin amazing...

  • Love Danny Carey...I am trying to learn this song right now.

  • sooo fun on drums, one of his easier songs to play

  • haha yer

    try vicarious

also one of the few 4/4 songs he does.

  • vicarious is actually 5/4. pretty easy, exact rhythm the whole song, but with assloads of different fills.

  • crap really? i count it as four four

i prolly miss half a beat every time coz of the way they play the guitar in the gap bridges

    and the kick during them

i guess? thanks all the same eh

    happy hols

  • @iniquitous85 I find it easier to just quit counting and play what is inside of my mind and not contain it so completely with the borders of time signature. its like walking on a paved road or walking through a path in the woods that is overgrown and not all there. i prefer the woods to the highway personally. but i'm a crazy man, seeing things that aint there....

  • @LordOfTheMasses easy on bass and guitars too!

  • Can you please send the pic at 1:05 ???

  • Sounds like Maynard still wasn't quite sure what he wanted to say......or wasn't sure where he wanted to put it.....Still priceless-

  • thats paul

  • The Story of my Life- Tool. This demo version is eargasmic.

  • send me the link plz

  • haha dude that isn't a song title, just saying that the Story of my Life IS tool

  • @rsjokes whoa. what a trippy life you must have then dude!!!

  • i was gonna say ive never heard of it

  • Is Paul D'Amour playing bass on this version?

  • afaik yes :) also made demo version of Ænima.... and some 3 song

  • no, thats definately Justin.

  • from what I understand, yes

  • no i believe that paul played on 46&2, Eulogy, and Aenema(demo versions only)

  • i thought Paul left shortly after undertow? because I'm pretty confident that the 46&2 bassline is Chancellors creation..

    I could be wrong here.

  • Yes but they composed demos of songs that were featured on Aenima before Paul left.

  • so wait, Chancellor didn't make the 46&2 bassline?

    That was Paul?

  • Only a few Aenima songs.. like Eulogy, The Grudge, Aenema, not every single song. Chancellor did Forty Six and Two from scratch.

  • But....

    The Grudge was on Lateralus.

  • I meant Pushit. Eulogy, Aenema, Stinkfist, Pushit.

  • no that was justin

  • No, that was Justin.

Paul wrote: H, Aenema, Pushit, Stinkfist, and Eulogy. Justin wrote the rest.

  • Not on 46 & 2. Aenema, Eulogy, Stinkfist, Pushit, and H.

  • nice version of stinkfist

  • lol maynard can sell his poop-stained undies, ppl will buy em ( including myself ) jk. kinda

  • you'd have to fight me to get them fucker.. haha..and uh, oh....im not kidding.. lol..

  • i cant believe people gave thumbs down to this guy ahaha

  • lol

  • i can help you change tired moments into pleasure...

  • 1:04

    increible ese dibujo

nadie sabe donde lo puedo conseguir?

  • I need more¡

  • I remember when I wrote this song back in 89', as I was farting backwards into a tube that had a magnetic pickup in it....

  • appear to record live

  • Amazing, better than the "up to date" or "album" one i think

  • ya i aree to karnage

  • hell yes! this gives a richer, more original feel, as if they were playing right in my backyard! (my dream)

His voice sounds great in this one.

  • applause to uploader!

    great youtube moment

  • There's no cowbell in this...

  • more cowbell!!!

  • Fuck all those gun-toting

    Hip gangster wannabes.

    - Maynard James Keenan

    AEnema

  • HEEY!! Im a gun-toting tool fan!!!

  • Yeah Maynard packs many guns as well. For those who are uninformed on his puscifer site he was selling targets he shot that were autographed. I support gun ownership rights, for law abiding citizens naturally.

  • One of my the many lines of Tool that I quote quite often.

  • @Beholdforiambob we all know who said that dude! but thanks for the reference.

  • @Beholdforiambob - lol, of all the good Tool lyrics you choose one of the least profound to cite, and you cite it on the wrong song.

  • @Beholdforiambob Good for you.

  • How did you get this? thanks:)

  • claro que es tool¡¡

  • Hydrogen Sulfide-Fist

  • The cowbell at the very end gives it away!!!

  • the "prove it" you found on limewire claims it is by tool, but it is actually a song from Chevelle's first album called point #1 released in '99

  • Has anybody heard "Prove it"? I found it on Limewire, Is it really Tool?

  • perfect.

  • I have to say if you haqve tool demos please post them. I am a big fan and this is one of few I have heard it is awesome!

  • I've come to appreciate this as the blueprint for my favorite tool song. I love the garage like sound, i think i'm beginning to like this one more than the studio released one.

  • does he say "turn around and suck my ass"

  • Kind of sounds like a "ss" sound but he's saying "turn around and TAKE my hand" just like on the CD.

  • Thanks man!

  • to clear ANY confusion....this is called Pre-production.......this is the audio you give the recording engineer so he can make a game plan of the way he wants to approach the recording process. Obviously this helps to band too. They have a reference for when they are in the studio and can refer back to this audio and make changes in the ACTUAL recording....99% oercent sure they got a friend with a cheap recording rig to record this before entering the studio.

  • when u use the symbo| % after a number it reads X percent,,,so u dont need to write 99% percent

    that's read: 99percent percent

  • when your only reply is to point out my mistake....that makes you 100%percent a fuckin ass clown and you probably are on welfare. you practice stretching your core so that one day.....ONE day......you'll be able to suck your own tiny cock.....but thanks for the advise.

  • no when i rep|y to point out ur mistakes,,,it makes 100% a person who is pissed at pp| using the |anguage improper|y N no I dont wanna suck my own tiny cock Im just waiting for a gir| to do that:D and how can u be sooo certain that I dont have a vagina???? and how the he|| did you know that I have a tiny cock??? u must be smart

  • actually im legally retarded.....but i do know that you either have a tiny cock......or a HUGE vagina! 100% percent.

anddddd thats it for me....i dont want to get into a battle of words cuzzzzz......i just dont have the energy anymore,,,,,,

    sooo have a good day.

  • You're so tough on the computer.

  • are you kidding me? we didnt even really get into it.....then i wished the person a good day......so i think you saying im "tough on the computer" is kinda shitty and out of place....so you sit around all day reading youtube comments so you can call out "internet tough-guys?" ....seriously dude. now im not trying to be tough when is say this but...fuck off and go fuck yourself.....for real......you are a fuckin douche bag........have a good day.

  • hahahahaha people make me laugh so much these days..

  • you are easily amused i guess.

  • Fuck off. Seriously rainced stop being an idiot. He's having a discussion with someone and you're being a dick and calling him a tough guy. Obviously most people act differently when they're on the comments section of youtube.

I'm sure you're one of them.

  • That was fucking awesome!!! Maynard says a lot of different stuff from the album version, can't make much of it out though.

  • I have a shitload of tool demos. I should post them.

  • That you should, you would be praised.. lol but that would be awesome.

  • Yeah you should, I wonder is there a Rosetta Stoned demo out there somewheres?

  • DO IT!!!! :)

  • @stinkfist420 no, you should email them to me

  • @stinkfist420 yes please do

  • this is really cool to hear. never heard a demo of theirs, and yes, this is clearly not the original version. poor sound quality. still cool though

  • lol this is so obviously not the original recording. There might be some layers that are the same, but others are not such as Maynard's singing.

  • You can't get this anymore. You could only get it from Tool's original demo tape.

  • amazing demo....sounds good still....love tool

  • its not on salival.....i have all of them....its not on any

  • where can I get it in mp3 or something ?

  • antixian, the only dumbshit here is YOU, it says demo version, it sounds like a demo version, its not live and its not a CD version you asstard

  • You dumbfuck, live means that the whole band is playing all together in the studio and being recorded.

  • live would be on a stage with people screaming through most of the song

  • Or live in the studio. Why would TOOL play a fucking demo for a crowd?

  • If it's in a studio it's not fucking live u retard... LIVE WOULD BE ON A STAGE WITH A CROWD.

and they wouldn't play a demo for a crowd thats why it's not live, its studio recorded.

  • This is definitely not a studio recording. They were in their recording space...but this is all one or two tracks. This is coming from one room.

  • its not live is the point. It is a demo recording... Live is in person in front of a crowd.

  • Anyone know or know where to find the lyrics for this version?

  • pretty cool

  • I like the drums in this version better, it sounds so mysterious and tribal.

  • Just listen to it, very little needs changing, besides levels and things. This is why i love tool, they dont need fancy things to sound good.

  • this is my favorite tool song just amazing even the demo is so good and Maynard's voice is just spectacular

  • its truly interesting to see how much songs change from their demos until when their actaully published on the cd's. this si prolly one of the really early run throughs of this song

  • Nubs, maynard sounded whiney back in the undertow days. But he also sounded like a badadss. Its his style.

Never heard the demo, thanks man. No voice effects! Crazy to hear stinkfist without the megaphone!

  • He sings it the same way they sung it live for the first time. Lyrics are of course different since it is a demo.

  • u kiddin?

  • if you cant tell thats maynard you're crazy

  • i love the dirty gritty drums in this version

  • I agree, badass drums in this one, the voice isn't as good as the album version though.

  • where did u get that artwork? its pretty impressive

  • its probably artwork by adam jones. hes brilliant
