Outstanding rendition! I just got chills. And you combined a perfect piece of video with it. (I take it that was filmed in England?) Anyway, a heartfelt thanks for making my night here in a soulless Miami. ;) Cheers
Hi crazydaisydoo. Really love your playing. got a question: when did you start playing and how long did it take for you to reach an acceptable level of proficiency? I'm thinking of switching from blues and guitar to jazz and sax and maybe starting on clarinet. I hear the saxophone is really hard to tame and I wonder if it's worth it or if I'll still be struggling to develop a good tone when i'm sixty bloody four.
@groovetonemusic, thanks Steve... all I can say is "tune!" you can't go wong with this one really :-) It is from the Hal Leonard playalongs that we both use...
@gentgent1. Thanks, I don't personally have any problem, but I don't own the song copyright or the backing track. Feel free though, as far as I am concerned
Sweet music. Just the job for a quiet night in with a fine old Malt and hazy eyes! Great idea for the background video. I'm on my way back btw! Sorry for my 'detour', via NHS!
Hey cheers Andy! Long time no speak, we must catch up soon. Daisy was talking about your barbeque the other day, and that was a long time ago for her......a memorable night!
This is just so relaxed. really... And the video just fits the mood of the melody - you even managed to get the rainy effects - reflections on the road, nice coronas on the lights... great... I enjoyed it very much!
I noticed the lack of traffic. Did advance notice get out that some madman was playing the sax and driving with his knees? You did a remarkable job of playing as usual (your lane skills were quite good also).
Ha, I don't sleep that well sometimes, and this was pretty early......I used a gorilla-pod on the camera, google them, a top piece of kit and makes a great Christmas gift!
How beautiful! You are really an accomplished painter of moods on your tenor. The video reminds me of many car trips during my frequent stays in Britain with all the rain, the signs reading "detour ahead", "dual carriageway ahead", "loose chippings" (one of my fafourites) and the thrill of being on the "wrong" side of the road
Thank you, Matthew, for the wonderful playing and thanks for the memories it has evoked!
Ulli I always look forward to you comments.... always very kind.... and next time your are over here we must hook up and I'll buy you a beer. How about a go yourself at this song on sotw? I can mail you the necessary........we need an alto version, only a couple have tried it (mind you one of them was like Phil Woods on a good day)
Beautiful blowing, on a lovely lonely-sounding tune which is new to my ears (a rare thing these days).
That truly lonely - and somewhat wet - drive DOES feature just a few vehicles heading in your direction, ala Great Britain, in the right lane - can't quite get comfy with that sight, so a momentary rush of panic adrenaline surges thru the body as the traffic heads toward the driver's car (kinda fun to watch, actually, after the initial shock).
Thanks Stradman...it was new to me too, that is the great thing about youtube and the internet generally, someone suggests a tune and it opens up a whole new listening experience. It reminds a little of "my one and only love" on the bridge. It had a bit of a squabble going on over who wrote it though.... not nice... Herb Eliis claimed he did, but it was actually John Frigo the bassist for Soft Winds.
Yes!!!!

This one sounds like a level up from your regular playing, if that sounds ok.
Nicely done.
