*facepalm , it's not a chemical reaction, the surface of the mentos frees the gas in the liquid , which creates pressure in the bottle, which creates the famous "volcano" effect... you can't get this effect if the mint is not fully covered with liquid because it doesn't free enough gas. YOU NEED MORE COLA!!!!!!!
