I remember when I saw trailers for this movie, there was something about it that made me want to see it. There were no showings around my college town that weekend. I borrowed a friends car and drove 45 minutes out of my way with my girlfriend to the next county just to see this movie. It was not a waste in the slightest bit ;-)

@IPunchUnicorns Listen, Zimmer, Powell, Elfman, Williams...All have completely unique sounds. No doubt it's easy to tell who is composing, because all have similar sounds, but I see no reason to judge one composer from another just by the similarity of music they compose. A lot of Star Wars music sounds like Indiana Jones. Why? Because John Williams composed the soundtracks to both of them. Powell's done many great works, and so has Zimmer.

Action is only half the film, music makes it whole <3

I also don't get is why everyone so proud of zimmer's work when he himself thinks' that his most famous one of them all, was horrible. People just need to learn about their composers before comparing two COMPLETELY different composers.

This was when hiccup fed toothless the fish, and toothless "gave it back" as a thank you present, then made him eat it haha and he learned how to smile, then they draw :), after hiccup passes the "test" Toothless is like, "I trust you"

This movie needs to win Best Animated Picture. If it doesn't (and 'Toy Story 3' does), I will know that Disney owns the world. (If 'The Illusionist' wins, then I can't speak because I haven't seen it.) It's the only movie other than 'Avatar' that had amazing visuals that used 3-D to the advantage of the experience and not just for higher ticket prices. Plus it had a great story to complement it, which is of course most important.

If not, then at least its great score has been recognized.

@VenomShock An inconvenient truth indeed. But it goes to show how Pixar is rising to the top. Even a mediocre release is considered a masterpiece. It's bullshit. The screenplay wasn't well-written at all, and none of its elements ("comedy", drama...) blended properly. But, again, it's Disney and Pixar; It's like trying to argue about 'Harry Potter' with a fan.

But I'm with you: Hopefully the music of John Powell wins.

I agree. While I did LIKE Toy Story 3, it by no means is going down in history as a classic animated film. I'd say different about Dragons. Besides, Dragons had a very well written story (it took tired plot devices, like "the loner nerd-outcast with parent troubles, no one understands him" and the classic "a boy and his *blank* story, and made them fresh and original,) Great voice acting, music of course, and animation (it was creepily realistic sometimes).

Because this movie shows how a story let alone is nothing if you don't have a clue how to tell the tale.

There is an unexplainable atmosphere in a story where there is an emotional connection between two individuals who can only communicate through body language and expression...
