Really great group! I had their stuff on lp and 8 track... don't have anymore. I see the cds are 20 + at the least. Thanks for posting, will enjoy alot! Swanee
Oh sweet Jesus! When I was in high school in Northest Lousiana I had a really old pickup truck with some Rocking speakers and a great 8 track. We would sit out in the parking lot of the teen activity center in the dark, drink beer and JAM!!! Those were some magical days.... :) And Levee Blues was our absolute favorite! thanks for posting!
really hot southern rock at its best...Saw George a lot with Basement Wall..All music majors at LSU..great sound...very underated..played here in Lake Charles at the lighthouse and the puppy pen..great memories..lets fire one up somebody plz.
damn that's sweet - a friend of mine turned me onto these guys when I was about 13. We tried to like hell to work out these licks on the guitar. So simple now, but man we had a challenge back the . . . 72-73 or so.
Good call, dude. I've listened to these guys ever since I was a little kid in the 80's. I have "Louisiana Rock & Roll", "First Taste", "Levee Blues", and their self titled album on cd. Guy Schaeffer (old friend of the family) had burnt his master vinals to mp3's a while back and made the cd's for my dad. I still have people coming up to me, asking "That's really good! Who plays that?" to this very day. One of the best southern rock bands to cut an album. :-D
Ooow, love that base-hard-boogie-sliding-guitar-pounding-piano sound! I forgot how great this tune was and how it was great to just head bang oneself into it! Thanks for the memories. I went to LSU during the time their earlier albums came out, and my roommate's boyfriend Courtney actually helped them on the "First Taste" album. Always felt a little attached to them.
Got this, Levee Blues and La. Rock&Roll from Amazon.com. Been 2 or 3 years ago, so don't remember if all their other stuff was also there. Glad you enjoyed. I played this when I was on WRNO/New Orleans FORTY YEARS AGO!
"Hard rock from back in the days when rocks were hard!"
I grew up around Alexandria, LA and first saw Potliquor at high school dances. Later, when I moved to Baton Rouge, they played at the local bars. I even saw George Ratzlaff carrying an armload of books across the LSU campus one day. I always thought that Potliquor was a lot better band than their success would indicate. A very good band that was overlooked. Thanks to Cooc00zooter for posting this one.
