  • Fuck Wayside Horns.

  • This is the only place in the country where a train track crosses diagonally across two state highways.

  • @greglocascio Right which is why this is the most dangerous railroad crossing in the country.

  • @dvferyance There's too many 'most dangerous RR crossings in the country' in IL alone. The UP (formerly CNW) Harvard sub alone has seen plenty of accidents--car and pedestrian. It really angers me and breaks my heart about the people not looking both ways before they cross the tracks.

  • They should also attach gun turrets to shoot anyone who tries to pass the crossing during operation... or have solid walls come from beneath the road, with spikes on them to impale pedestrians and cyclists! Or maybe the trains should have rocket launchers on them to annihilate any obstacles?

  • if you want the real thing, come to blue island, or franklin park. you'll get the real horn there

  • I think that freakin crazy sounding thing is annoying as he**! I would rather listen to the train myself....it only blows the pattern one time....not over and over again. Of course I run trains myself so of course I like the horn....

  • That automated horn is very annoying! I do prefer the horn on the locomotive itself.

  • THANK YOU! The Wayside horn is the dumbest idea EVER. I rarely hear them hear in Vegas & if they install them here to, I'll never hear one again. <:(

  • They could at least put a good sounding horn there.

  • why did he stop. the horn needs to be on a pole with a quiet zone indicator realy high so the train crew can't see it

  • We're about 900 feet from a future wayside horn site and we're not looking forward to listening to wayside horns play the same recording every time a train slowly passes.

  • The horns sound like crap, I will admit it. However the fact that they are more of a sound canon, directing the sound at the car and not EVERYTHING in a 10 mile radius makes them so much more practical for everyone. But again, they sound like crap. We have some on the BNSF by my house in Coon Rapids, MN.

  • i agree. these horns are WAY more obnoxious than the ones on the locomotive!

  • OMG that crossing horn is RANCID sounding. YUCK!!!!!!

  • No way. It is much quieter than actual horns, and stop as soon as the train passes. Much less noise for homes and businesses.

  • Pathetic you can't just deal with it. Quiet zones and wayside horns are bullshit. They're VERY dangerous, and certainly encourage more to blow the gates. Simple logic here. Get it?

  • Yes, but REAL horns really help. :)

  • (BUMP) sorry, Why did it stop like that?

  • The answer...in part 2 :)

  • I've always wanted to see a video of DeKald at this crossing. To bad its, well, to late. (wayside horns). I personally like them, but, still...
