Ok. Yeah, because i also accidentally cleared the high scores and now they stay gone and the controls also reset on quit (where they didn't) b4.
But I am glad I finally got to play this game again.
I was just wondering if that was because of the emulator or if it was something Amrosia did for the trial version (enticing you to pay the $15 registration fee).
I finally managed to get it going on the basilisk ii, except for two malfunctions:
1) the game won't run with the window completely full
2) the darnest of all, the game only works once. After starting a new game it goes super psychotically insane fast. However, if you quit and open back up it returns to normal speed until after just that one game.
I'm having a ton of trouble installing basilisk ii on my system but sheepshaver actually looks much more difficult.
I keep getting the error msg when running the system 7.5.3 files "the checksum is invalid: expected $0057D6B4 calculated (the hex number always varies)
@VanillaLimeCoke That's an error I've never heard of. I'm no expert with Basilisk II, so I don't know what that could mean. You should try the Basilisk II support forum on the e-Maculation website. The people there should be able to help. I'd provide a link to it, but Youtube won't let me.
@VanillaLimeCoke The only way to run Swoop on the new Mac Book or any PC is with an emulator, since Swoop only runs on Mac OS 7 thru 9. I recommend Basilisk II. It's easy to find, easy to set up, there's a lot of support for it, and (most importantly) it's free.
Or you could install Mac OS 7.5.5 onto your computer as its Operating System, but I really don't recommend that.
@VanillaLimeCoke It's supposed to break and release a powerup (usually an extra life) if you shoot it enough. I've only managed to do that once or twice, it takes a lot of shots and the higher the level the more shots it takes
@davidstrongarm44 If you want to play this game, you could try emulating a mac on your computer. Basilisk II is what I use to do that. I had to use it to play this game since the version I have won't run on Mac OS 10 or higher.
Why doesn't this have more views? I freakin' grew up playing Swoop!
Fuppin' epic game. Hate those spiders.

I finally managed to blast the orb open today.
It released a small red/gray like ball. I caught it and it made the sound effect you hear for the bonus multiplier on the clear level screen.
It might have given me an extra life or 10,000 points or maybe both.

@VanillaLimeCoke This game is not freeware so it's probably game.

@VanillaLimeCoke Then perhaps Swoop would run better on Mac OS 9 with Sheepshaver.

Thanks a billion for uploading this. I've been searching on/off for a gameplay of this game.
This is like the best space space invader game ever.
What does shooting the shield orb do, btw?

The worst thing about not having a Mac is not being able to play Ambrosia games :(
I miss them so much! Spent hours playing this as a kid. Thanks for uploading.
