@davidhertzberg. And it has lead to my discovery of the late jazz pianist Eddie Higgins. You can hear him on Youtube playing this song and many more. He is a terrific player. You can always tell a good composition whn a jazz pianist wants to play it. All the best from Leeds UK.
This song is stunning. I had never heard it before until yesterday. Someone gave me the sheet music thinking that i would enjoy the song. I cant stop playing it. It reminds me a little of 'days like these' sung by Matt Monroe for some reason. Modern composers today (in my view) dont have the musical knowledge to write like this. They dont have the knowledge to create the harmonic progressions that lead to such lovely melodies. Thank you for posting it.
Yellow Days is the English version of the Spanish song "La Mentira." The composer is Alvaro Carrillo. No one can't take that away from him. Now, I have Yellow Days from the Diane Schuur "Schuur Fire" CD featuring Caribbean Jazz Project Track #11 (4:03) Concord Music Group, Inc. CCD-2264-2 - The notes on the CD jacket by Doug McIntyre, describes each of the 12 songs and for Yellow Days they properly give credit to Alvaro Carillo and Alan Bernstein as composers and Alan Bernstein - Music.
@classicvinylbiz: I just saw your message. I am so glad you changed the description and took my message in the spirit that it was given, not as a critique but to give proper credit to the composer. I tried to purchase the LP you described from Amazon, but they didn't have it. Since we are in the Season, I wish you Happy Holidays and a great New Year.
@davidhertzberg I was looking for the one you featured on the video "If You go Away." Amazon has it in vinyl but they are used and too expensive. They don't have it in CD format. The CD "Golden Classics: Best of Damita Jo" is available but it doesn't have the song Yellow Days, but like I said on my initial comment. I have the song on one of my Diane Schuur CD's. I am interested in the CD "Jazz Nites" by Diane Shaw. Any information on that one?
