Israel already has 2 quarantined swine flu patients (they visited Mexico) so there goes that theory. Many Jews do eat pork, but the virus is transmitted by human contact, not eating pigs.
Israel is the largest producer and exporter of Pork products in the Middle East.
They export it because most Muslim countries will not allow people to breed pigs; Egypt did until they ordered them all slaughtered yesterday (Coptic Christians eat them).
Pigs are omnivorous, the religious ban was partially due to the fact that the meat spoiled quickly in the days before refrigeration.

The person that told you this is obviously very ignorant. There are a lot of people in the world that do not eat pork besides Jews and Muslims. There are christian denominations like the Adventists that do not eat meat or if they do it is not anything with a cloven hoove or bottom feeding fish. However, I find it odd that this flu seems to be killing people of latino ethnicity. I may be over thinking that one. Only time will tell. Stay safe and I hope this helps.
