I have the same problem. accept when i turn it on the apple logo appears for like 2 minutes then it just says use ituunes to restore. Then when i plug it into itunes IT DOESN"T APPEAR ON THE ITUNES SIDE BAR. please help!

@SuperMadkour As I said, I sent my iPod to Technical Support and they sent me a new one, due to warranty lifetime. I suggest you doing the same.

as soon as the apple logo comes on slam the back of the ipod on the floor or a hard surface but nt to hard wait do this like 10x untill the ipod logo gets stuck and wait to see what happens.. the it will ask you to restore plug it up and folllow the itunes from there

didn't work like that for me. i did it more than a couple times. now it seems like there is broken glass in there. because every time i shake it i hear the something shattered inside. please help!

what you need to do = hold the menu and action button for like 4 minutes. when you did that , JUST WAIT , then he starts again, and there we go, fixed

Thank you for fixing my ipod!!! Though it broke my heart to beat the thing, it works (even if temporarily). Hopefully, its crashing isn't a regular occurrence because I have to reload all of my music and that sucks.com.

I FIXED MY IPOD!! My ipod had the red x screen and it wouldn't work for shit. I did EVERYTHING I could to fix it. Literally 2 minutes ago I started throwing my ipod as hard as i could at a pillow I placed on my floor and it WORKS AGAIN!! It was as simple as that.

Throw it HARD on a thick pillow when the apple sign comes up and it will work again (for me it did). I'M STOKED!!!! Try it out. It took me 4 times. My ipod is working like a charm now.

Mine does the same thing as yours..but I tried every fix I could find, I see a lot of people saying bashing it works but I have done this 15+ times and still nothing. I've tried bashing different sides of it and everything..I'm running out of ideas..I can't accept that my iPod is fucked..I paid too much for this thing..and the warranty is up.

I've been through three of these iPods. They just don't last. And I've protected them by using shock-absorbant cases that I bought.

Guess there's a red X of death, as well as the sad face of death on these things.

This happen to man also. But i had the 80gb. I fixed the problem tho. I read on line to purposly drop it on the floor There was no way i was going to do that on purpose even tho i though it was screwed. Soo i took the initative and i took the pillow on my bed and put that on the floor and i threw my ipod as hard as i could into it. The 3 time i did it i powered up the ipod and sure enough it fucking fixed it haha. Try it out and let me know if it helped

this exact thing has just happened with my ipod a few days ago.. exactely the same issue as this.. red X same thing when in diagnostics mode.. iv tired about 30 times hitting the back of it like iv heard lots of people suggest and nothings happening.. one thing iv noticed is that since iv been hitting the back of it (besides denting the back of the ipod itself oops) the harddrive is making a louder noise than it was before... can anyone help? thank you xx

I sent to TechSupport and they sent me a new one!

There was in technical coverage period, then I changed to a new one!

The worst part it's I lost all my data there was in it, but I recovered in time.

Não tinha nada de estranho acontecendo com ele, até quando fui usar e nada funcionava nele, daí quando dei o Reset... X Vermelho.

this works.....hold down on center and menu button until it resets and then hold it frmly in one hand and slap the other side with your palm.....keep repeating this until it works
