@mccormick444 DAMN, thats what I thought! There must be a workaround this. Some way I can download the maps (assuming responsibility) and putting them in the app (so the makers of the app don't break any licensing laws)
This is a nice video, but it is not a tutorial. It is an advertisement. Could you produce a professional educational video that shows all the feature of this amazing application? All I can find is useless jingles and ads. :-(
@longbord1 Yes, both portrait and landscape are fully supported. After 30 days you lose access to voice-guided navigation, but you still have full access to search, maps (including 3D), Wikipedia, Facebook, and you can still get routes and directions but you must manually advance through the steps.
Sadly Facebook's draconian security policies prevented my MotionX GPS location post because I was signing in from an "unfamiliar location"! What if this was an emergency situation and I needed to share my exactly GPS coordinates immediately and ask for help!? There is currently no way to disable this besides logging in from a computer from home to authorize the 'foreign' location.
Nice video, however I would not call it a "tutorial". It is more of a sales pitch. No I need to hunt down a tutorial so I can make the most of this app.
hey there dude i have a question.... so i download the programm..i put in my ipod touch 2g and it works?without any tool kit or something? that simple?
MotionX-GPS works anywhere in the world. You do not need cellular service, although acquiring a GPS signal may take up to 15min or so without assistance from the cellular network. In fact if you are concerned about data usage you can pull your SIM during use. But you will probably want to pre-download maps (e.g. using WiFi) using the Map Storage feature that was recently added (v9.0).
That's awesome. I just bought this from the appstore even though I don't have an Iphone yet because it seemed like a good deal lol. I cant wait to get a 3GS
I rate this app five stars because it gives an accurate GPS. Also, you can't beat the price of this great app with so many great features right at the tip of your finger. It's a great investment for such a small price. I would recommend it!
You can use the top button to power off the screen and it saves quite a bit of battery that way. This is if you want to record a gps track in the background.
It would be nice if it didn't kill your phone battery, otherwise it's an excellent app for outdoor tracking and sharing, specially for the price. Just make sure that if you are going to need the phone later in the day that you are going to be able to charge somewhere.
Yes, the handhelds do have better battery. This does have cool features that the GPS handhelds don't have. Mostly having data connection means you can get live maps, send wypts and tracks to people through email, twitter, facebook. + it always gets better with free updates. eTrex costs about $110 and this is $3. iPhone maps app is v cool, this adds what you need for outdoor sports. I still have a garmin but it's in pocket when I need it... Different strokes for different folks I guess ! :)
This will never replace a high end handheld gps; like a Etrex legend. Um, keep your regular gps, as 3 AA batts. will keep that powered for more than a week. This will kill your iPhone in less than a day. What's so cool about that? Now you dont have a goddamn phone! Awesome? Jesus, the phone already has a basic gps. Really, think about that one. Nice
Great instruction video! Great app for the iPhone 3GS! I kayak and this app replaced my old gps. Just make sure you bring back up power due to the gps sucks down the power.
Excellent program!! Easy to use and very accurate. Well worth the pocket change they're charging ($2.99 as of this posting). I esp like the iPod inclusion. I hope they keep adding to it.
useless -_-
leaving for DR tomorrow morning and need a downloadable maps app. i have yet to find anything successful.

MotionX is a GREAT app for a LOT of activities! I just love the usability of this app.
That been said I do have one thing I cant find out how to do.
I can't download maps from Google for off-line use!
Does anyone know how can I do that???
billysgeo 2 months ago
@billysgeo You can download all of the map types *except* Google. Their licensing restrictions don't allow it.

how do i transfer the photos ALONG with the track onto my comp? it doesn't appear as waypoints in my track.
uberhyped 6 months ago
@uberhyped The GPX file format does not permit storing photo waypoints in the track file, so photos are stored in your iPhone camera roll.

What is an "Awesome snatch workout" @ 2:30 of this video?!
ZombieGreaser501 6 months ago
Two questions. Does this program work with the iphone in the vertical position. I keep it like that in my car.
Also, after 30 days, does it still work or does it just lose the voice directions?
Thanks!

@eimaisklhros the iPod touch does not have a GPS chipset. Without an external cradle like the Dual GPS, it will not work properly.
