Surprised that the RO's don't give FTDR's to the supposed "mag dumping" in order not to reload with retention. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the rule at all and am completely against the FTDR procedurals given when this happens. Probably why I shoot more USPSA than IDPA...
@UTLonghornPistol "Round dumping" is a tough one to call unless it's *really* obvious. On stage 9 of this match I probably could've gotten called for it if the SO really wanted to nitpick. Generally you're ok unless you fire 2 or more extra shots at the final target before you have a good opportunity to reload.
Nice shooting...great gun control ! Are you shooting reloads there? My first match is this Saturday, so I'm deciding on what type of ammo to buy. Any suggestions?
@chex22 Thanks. I am shooting reloads here, after this match I started loading them a bit hotter since I barely made the required power factor.
I'd recommend the cheapest reliable ammo you can find (or reloads if you're a reloader). I've found Magtech and Independence to be pretty good. Lots of guys use Federal red box or Winchester white box without issues. Remington UMC quality seems to be hit or miss lately.
OK that makes sense. The click confused me because in IPSC you have to be hammer down between stages so I knew it couldnt have just been inserting a mag before the stage.
Had fun watching your video :)

@spankaveli It's the Contour HD. There's a video on my channel explaining the camera and how I mounted it.

What happened on stage 3?

I edited it out, but stages 2 and 3 went together. After stage 2 you reloaded and went immediately to the start of stage 3.
I thought I still had a round in the chamber (thumb must've been on the slide stop) so I just changed mags and didn't rack the slide.
Of course, I should've checked the chamber, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes.
