  • It wasn't really the drug trafficking so much as the sentences that made the difference. The mob always trafficked drugs. Lucky Luciano smuggled tons of heroin between Sicily and New York. It's not like the mob just started trafficking drugs one day and that led to their decline. They were always into drugs.

But with the advent of the drug war and RICO laws, the sentences for drug trafficking got a lot harsher.

So now instead of Tony Soprano we have Gus Fring. Hooray! Well worth our billions.

  • Great clip

  • The guy on the show is correct. The long sentences involving drugs really changed things.

  • Vincent Rizzo: You're always going to have organized crime. Always. As long as the human being has certain appetites for gambling, pornography, or whatever. Someone's always going to surface, to serve these needs. Always.
