Last time I went camping I couldn't get my chainsaw to work so here's another way.

I had four or five pieces That were about 6 or 7 feet long, leaned them up against a tree and drove my Jeep into them. If they didn't break completely, they broke enough to do what you did.

Then I laid the shorter pieces over a couple other logs and drove my Jeep over them. That only cracked them, but they could be broken the rest of the way, then.

I guess they're harder to break in the northern hemisphere.
