Very spiritual. It is in my plans to move to Arizona and travel to canyon country to be guided by the spirits there on how to learn to play a Native American Flute. Those magical ancestral lands in New Mexico and Arizona call to me across the distance, to be there again.
I too have been inspired by Kokopelli, a flute player myself I enjoyed your improv sometimes the best music comes from just letting the spirit inside your flutes sing.
just great. I am Russian and live in Azerbaijan, but I am very interested in Native Americans culrure. I have lived in CA for an year but never had a chance to visit The Grand canyon. It's still my dream - I think it's sacred place. Grear video - many thanks!
This is lovely! Thank you for sharing it. I'm an elementary teacher and I'm looking for copyright free soundtracks for multimedia projects. Any chance you'd let students download this music for their projects?
I keep coming back to this song, it really has a unique and tender sound to it. Please let me know if you have other songs out and available on places like myspace or otherwise. If you have a cd I would love to trade you a copy of mine if you are interested. Aho
Beautiful! I've kayaked through the Grand Canyon 3 times, going again next September on my own private trip. I feel like getting my own flute, practicing day and night, just to be able to play this tune at the bottom of the marvelous canyon. It would be the perfect setting for such perfect music.
Just wow, that is something to aim for with me flute playing. The Navajo reservation is a great place. I got my high spirit flute G-key at the Cameron trading post.
absolutely gorgeous... breath-taking... reminds me of something off of a movie soundtrack. i think if i heard this in a movie i would forget everything BUT this song... simply astounding. i have never heard a flute recording that compares to this, and i don't know if i ever will. excellent breath-control, just...everything. i can't shut up about it, obviously... just... wow...
That was an awesome song, I especially like the almost blues scale you use at the end...really stroked my mind :)
And to the Native american terminology debate...most of the words tribes I know of use for themselves are simply translated as "the people". Each tribe has a different word but it usually means that or "the people of something something."
Beautiful flute playing. If people could only get into this and let their spirit free and stop all the bullshit (like I started to read below) what a peaceful world we would have. I'm afraid its never going to happen. Thanks for sharing your music.
I don't mean to be rude, but this really urks me...
Why would you call yourself "native american"?
George Washington, Sam Adams, Thomas Jefferson, etc are the real native Americans. America has existed since 1773. "N.A." is a foreigners term to label the indigenous peoples. Are you so submerged into American culture that you're only proud of your skin color? That's how you're labeling yourself.
the problem is if you just up and said 'I'm proud to be micmac' for example, a lot of people wouldn't no what you're talking about, especially foreigners
No, I believe it was "Indians" that was the label for us. We call ourselves native americans because we are the people of this land that is called "America." It took the forefathers of this country today to get on a boat and settle on a foreign land.
Indian was what a confused Italian sailor called us as he thought he landed in India. Don't have us confused, we're proud of our land and culture, no matter how dilluted and broken down our tribes and people have become... -Apache
Amerigo Vespucci is the man America is named after (another italian), so I see it as the same as saying "Indian". They're both just as politicaly incorrect. Also, when you say "I'm native american" to someone, all they think of is "indigidous" and whatever generaly goes along with that, like a bow and arrow, teepee, and dancing around a fire. If you tell someone, in your case, "I'm Apache" then that is a whole other culture that is separate from other non-apache natives.
the only problem with being tribe-specific is, lets face it, not a lot of people can discern between tribes or know what each tribe stands for. It's easier to just say native american only because our people have becoming so diffused and melded into other cultures, that native americans count for less than 10% of american population... Unless you ask, I won't bother giving you my tribe only cuz I know most people won't care or don't know. That doesn't make me less proud, just saves time
Yeah but people SHOULD know the difference. It's really messed up. Your right about diffusing and melding but don't you think that should change? Enough has been lossed and all nations and tribes have been forced to settle for less for centuries. The "convenience bubble" has got to be popped on the subject of culture education. OK a lot of people wouldn't care, theyre ignorant. But I bet you a LOT more people do care, even if it is a little since it is unspoken U.S. history
the serenity in the sound of the flute make you feel so happy and peaceful

As long as your students quote my name and do not obtain monetary gain, they are welcome to use my music.
