As the I phone it has a sensor that keep applications fully closed when up against a persons face when talking to people. This was a big problem with alot of the other plam phones.

As someone who works in the wireless industry, I can say that I've watched Palm go downhill very fast over the last few years. Both in the quality of their devices, and in their customer support, they are lagging well behind the rest of the industry. The Pre seems to address the first concern, this phone is amazing and the UI is fantastic. Hopefully they get better customer support going to match it, and Palm will gain their lost ground back very quickly.

Only reason I didn't buy an iphone is because it was on AT&T. Well to me, this looks like the perfect alternative. On top of that, its got a physical keyboard to boot. However I'm sure a virtual keyboard will be developed soon for those who can't live w/o them. Better camera, SMOOTH touch interface like the iphone, 8gb storage, and good web browsing is enough for me :) EVDO, wifi, and gps also help a bit. I want this... NOW.

Everything is awesome about this phone, but what about the "phone". How is the UI of the actual phone when you try to make a call or something. How do you make phone calls,have conference calls? i think this phone is VERY promising as long as they can get developers and the community behind it like the iPhone has gotten. i would like to see how it handles games and if the browser can handle flash, but i was fine with my HTC touch until i saw this!

There is NO perfect carrier, i've been with many of them and have come back to sprint, and i'm very happy with my service and blazin 3G speed

Oh wow! Palm has finally got it right! Just look at that! The OS is very fluid. Although many touch devices came out, none were fluid like the iPhone. Apple better have something really cool to get back. This is just great! But, WHY SPRINT! Eww! AT&T or Verizon or T-Mobile would have been cool. Also, they should come out with an all touch screen device. I don't like the keyboard on this. Looks too plastic-y!
