once you learn some really good chords and songs...you can instanly know what to listen for in songs. its really easy. just play some more and get used to the sounds.
David Taub is the man... I have been taking his video lessons fro next level for about two monthes and it is very helpful. I never knew what to practice or what to stress on and David explains all of that stuff. It is a layed out plan that help you get better and to do it the right way. The web site also offers good written lessons with diagrams as well as a chord library. Next level guitar kicks ass!! Rock on
ok im trying to learn the spanish guitar because i love the way it sounds....but is there a difference between guitar and spanish guitar say...with your videos ...or can i learn "guitar" and play it on the "spanish guitar" and the only difference being tone...hope ya understood
i just feel sad that its too late for me to learn to play the guitar. Im 24 and can't absorb the playing technique or develop speed as a 13, or 14 year old kid would. This guy has very good skills with the guitar, both theory and practice i saw his other vids and he can shred. Its really hard learning to play at a late age and as an instrument its really difficult to play it unless you developed natural reflexes over time.
YOu can do it - its never too late to learn to play and reap the rewards of playing music - you can do it! Dont give up - go after your dreams and dont let anyone tell you that you cant. Take care and best of luck.
24??? To late??? I started at age 39 and it only took a couple months watching David's videos and I was playing songs and having a great time. I've now been playing for about a year and a half and I'm cranking out all kinds of music. David's right.. "You can do it"
kool i am 20 & thinking about learning guitar. i wanna get a gibson les paul melody maker you think thats a good guitar for novice? what kind of guitar do you have?
i know you prolly don't give a damn about what i have to say, but a gibson sg or a fender starcaster would be a really good choice for beginners. i have a fender strat. its a really good gutiar, but i am getting a bc rich warlock soon. it all depends on your taste of music. o and get some effect pedals. if you like metal and fuzz get a boss mt 2 metal zone.
man if you got the money for a gibson go for it. i have an epiphone sg with emg's, it rocks and it plays better than my jacksons. got it for 300 euros. if you don't want to spend on a gibson go for a good epiphone.
start with an acoustic, the tighter strings help strengthen your fingers really fast. once you've been playing for a few months get an electric. you're going to want to go to a guitar center and try different ones. his guitar might not work for what you need. it mostly depends on the genre you're going to be playing and your price range. tell someone at guitar center those two things, and they'll help you find something that fits you. hope this helped :)
i start at 23. and i very good now , i cant do things that 2 years ago of other planet but now are easy to me , the only thing is love to rock n roll , Rock n roll !!!!
Hello David, Im 14 years old and just learning how to play guitar.I cant read tabs yet but if you can send me the chords for bleed by cold and let it all out by aaron lewis? thanks
What he is saying about pentatonics is very true, I was in that same set pretty much, all I wanted to know whas the key, but now I'm starting to use more than just pentatonics scales and shapes.

Thanks for the tips. It's very helpful. Always nice to learn more especially from you guys. By the way, I don't know if you're familiar with this youtube user called "DJAutark" or "DJA" . He certainly could use a bit of ear training. look him up =P .
Great lesson! These are a lot of tips that I remember focusing on when I started guitar, but over the years I have been slacking or forgotten a numerous amount of them. Thanks for the kick in the butt, Dave!
thanks for the advice but i got a question...i play guitar...otherwise i'd probably not be watching this vid lol but i got to do an audition to get into a music school but i have a problem with playing infront of people....i get....scared sort of and im shaking all over the stage....yeah...lol got any tips? please? lol
great lesson, like all of em ! btw. i wanted to say when i started playing guitar a year ago i started by watching your videos ! and now people tell me i play like i've been playing for ten years ! its awesome ! thanks so much for your lessons ! Rock On !
That's so important for me David that you made this video ... it helps people to see a little bit of light in a long road of hard work =) thank you so much =)
I was wondering if you guys will ever do some lessons for more advanced players?
The lessons you guys have done are great, but there are people like me that are a bit advanced but are still looking for some more guitar knowledge to grab onto.
I also enjoyed your jazz lessons if you could try another one of those.
Can u make a video of u playing a hardcore guitar solo so we know that we are not wasting our time with your videos?

very good advice. I am stil very much a beginner. The 'order' in wich I am aproaching this is this:
1. Learn the notes on the 5th and 6th Strings
2. Blues scale
3. Minor pentatonic scales
4. Extended minor p. and blues scales
5. Note positions all over key board
Have fun doing it. Obvoulsly thet is alot more you need to learn on the way but that is where i started.
