ya DONT delete. go to control panel, remove programs, then uninstall them properly. if u just delete then they still keep files on the computer and some files might get corrupted and then u cant uninstall the program correctly!!!

I've done all of that already, not to mention I have repaired the registry and generally "cleaned" out my system. There are no spyware, viruses, trojans, worms ... etc.

I have tried every trick i've read about and none of this has had any effect whatsoever on my 5+ min. boot time. Im at my wits end. the thing runs fine once everythings loaded. just takes FOREVER to get there. I have an HPa6120n with vista home edition. I really don't know what else to try.

@MagicalThanks I have added RAM, to a grand total of 3 gigs, I have a 500 gig slave drive that stores all of my files that aren't windows related, and I have a dual core intel viiv processor ... shouldn't that be good enough?

You're either lying about the technology currently residing in your computer, unaware of malware, virus's ect, or you just don't know how to use a computer? You're computer should not be acting the way you stated if you indeed have the specified technology you mentioned. What is your CPU usage? Converse back. ::)

@MagicalThanks I'm not lying, thank you very much ... The startup time is what i have trouble with ... once the computer is running it's faster than just about any computer of anyone else i know ... I never have errors or any problem. It just takes like 5 minutes for vista to load. I took it to geek squad and they couldn't figure it out either. I do know that after I reformat the hard drive (i've done it twice) it doesn't take as long but over time it gets longer and longer ...

Hmm.. I'm not sure. If computer experts can't figure it out then I hardly doubt I would be of any assistance. When you say it take's five minutes to boot, do you mean boot from start up or from just logging in?

well I disabled all the "beautiful" stuff of XP when I bought it, samething I did it with Vista. XP is not bad but after 2 years XP will be forgotten. Vista has a lot of convenience working features better than XP u just need to learn how to use them. 1 reason I hate Mac is that they focused on how a computer looked, not how it runs. I do not care how ur system looks like. Besides, he is not turning off all the features, it's just display features he turned off.
