  • I googled the name of the photograph and Rudy Guilliani with the hopes that I could find out how it was made. The Google Gods complied. I love the information age! Great photo.

  • This was extremely informative!! How did you deal with the wind situation during the shoot?

  • Great stuff! Sensational!

  • Well well well done!

  • This was very interesting to see. I recently saw a slideshow he did about his inspirations, particularly with Arnold Newman in mind, and it's really interesting to see him breaking down his own photos and seeing how his influences' work compare to his. Very nice!

  • Gregory - this is very inspirational. I loved the last minute and actually laughed at 5:15! Bravo! Amazing photo.

  • Great work, Gregory, thanks for sharing your process.

  • fantastic: to those who say "er photoshop could do it ..." looke up photoshopdisasters . com.. that's what tends to start happening. I hazzard the photoshop "wizzards" have never actually lit anything or produced a professional quality picture: it is impossible to recreate lighing after the event convincingly without hollywood budgets. It just doesn't happen. The best you ever get is "thats OK". This isn't done for fun

Very interesting, fab video. I like his dress sense. Way Cool and smart.

  • Very simple lighting for such a brilliant portrait. So far this is my favourite out of the profoto videos. Thanks

  • @f3xpgm - He's using a large format view camera, so its possible that he achieved the unfocused background on the right by shifting the plane of focus. He's working with quite a few lights, so can probably stop down to have a lot of depth of field control with this setup.

  • @f3xpgm you're an idiot.

  • @f3xpgm guess thats why you're posting on youtube message boards and he's shooting Rudy Giuliani for Time.

  • @f3xpgm WOW aren't you an idiot!

  • @f3xpgm You obviously don't know how large format cameras work. You can create those out of focus highlights in the background by shifting the plane of focus. Instead of attacking Greg (and Profoto - this is sort of an add for their lights) for sharing, you should be thankful that you can access this kind of information.

  • Awesome. Love these setup/behind the scenes videos. Keep them coming.
