  • By public jim you mean America?

  • I dont know why people say he is shy! He is just chilling sitting in the hot seat telling his lifestory, what would you expect him to act?!

  • Interesting to note some think he is shy, if you grow up in OZ particularly in his time and before you learned not to take your self to seriously, it`s unaustralian. That may be changing now but back in the day you did not stick your head to high.If you did you usually had to defend it.The tall poppy thing...

  • I didn't realize he went to AGS. I am an old boy from there.

  • he seems so full of himself but as an Aussie I can tell you he will never be able to hide or supress his inner bogan

  • a big, tough man, with a shy attitude about himself

  • In March 2000, before his Gladiator Oscar win, Russell spoke at a screening of his film, before a bunch of us non-industry folks. He totally amazed us with his wit, kindness and charm. We will be forever in his debt for that night, when he gave of himself to his fans.

  • i dunno he seems a bit of a knob..slapping bout a producer at bafta..because he couldnt finish his poem.

  • he reminds me of oliver reed without the drink

  • let my muscles show cause I'm russell crowe, beautiful mind, took his bitch hussled hoe.

  • very very shy, the first Actor ive seen that is this self conscious.

  • russell is def one of my favorite actors. even with all the movies and fame he has...hes still so down to earth and ou can tell he never lost his realistic view on things. i wouldnt mind hanging out with him he seems cool.

  • @sLeighTkiLLa because he's shy...did you miss the opening speech? hahah

  • why is he always looking down???

  • Why is the intro so long?

  • Lipton is a knob.

  • He didn't mention Virtuosity! He was outstanding in that role!!!

  • Can we institute some policy that women cannot show up and giggle at everything attractive actors say? They make the whole actors studio look bad. He is there as an actor, not a piece of meat.

  • I didn't know he's from New Zealand originally. Cool.

  • i guess eye contact is not his thing

  • @oooshitman9

He's nothing in comparison to an acting god like you...

Then again, he has an oscar, and you don't. :O

  • @oooshitman9 He is a douchebag in some respect. Because of his shyness and avoidance of connecting with people personal. But ying and yang would make this one of the most great features.

  • i love his voice.......

  • @tahirdobaz I could listen to it all day long....just so deep and masculine! :O)

  • we seriously need this kind of show but with musicians, cause in all the shows it's all personal life questions!!!

  • He's part eggplant.

  • i just watched The Insider before i watched this, and thats a movie you definitely want to check out.

  • Just because Pacino wasn't screaming his balls off during his session doesn't mean he came off as "shy", just not the crazy Pacino folks would expect from watching some of his films.

  • i love this show.

  • Until this day i cannot believe this man did not win an oscar for his stellar performance in A Beautiful Mind..........

  • @xXzibitx ure so right

i had to rewatch and rewatch and rewatch and rewatch that movie because its just beyond fescinating what hes doing there.

I remember it was the first DVD i bought with my own earned money

  • @xXzibitx That was a stellar performance. Do you happen to remember the other actors who were nominated alongside him that year? I watched a documentary on YouTube about the mathematician Russell Crowe depicted. It's wonderful that his contribution to Mathematics is recognized now, and not posthumously. The poor man is an inspiration for people who are plagued with severe mental illness. He was also an Eccentric and extremely arrogant. Crowe portrayed him with insight and depth!

  • Belt up Jame talk too much ye aint the star

  • He's always looking down

  • is he reading off a sheet here or just shy?

  • Loving the cut to a random black chick when they mention Maori... 'Quick! Find a dark person!' hahaha

  • @willystyles07 lol!!! :D Hilarious

  • @willystyles07 lmao, thats pretty funny

  • He is really an good actor, very good

    thanks

  • Dont like his looking down. if you see him in other clips its not how he is. I tend to think its a bit of acting going on

  • lipton talked for so long in the beginning that i went and popped a bag of popcorn

  • His body language is very interesting

    He sits shyly, almost embarassed

Not relaxed, and seems naturally withdrawn

    Probably a natural introvert

That comes through in his acting

But he obviously overcomes those tendencies through his work

  • @RustyShunt Well said. He was wonderful in A Beautiful Mind and I can see the body language you stated above in his character in that movie...

  • He pretends in front of a camera! Get a life people!

  • Lol "Narcissius"...

  • i love, when he says MAORI ......they immediately cut to a black woman

  • @sethmusic you know this stuff has started to drive me mad in the last few years. you watch an award show or any show, and soon as they mention black people you get an obligatory shot of a black person in the audience. it makes me cringe so much i can't really watch any of that shite any more. anyway well noticed

  • what is that film technique called?......is it a "turn away" or something like that? i shouldnt care, but i want to know the names of the techniques i would like to use..........and i would lick lipton's balls to know.

  • Well.... I'm not a big fan of Lipton's big disclaimer at the beginning. I wonder what the point of that was.

  • @phantomrose89 I assume it is just because it is a repeat of the episode. Also Lipton does enjoy his tv time

  • SYLVESTER STALLONE and RUSSELL CROWE are THE GREATEST of ALL TIME!!!!!...

  • @PierreValerWilson ugh not russell crowe

  • Russell is so intelligent and thoughtful, just really enjoyable to watch this wonderful man who seemed so misunderstood by Hollywood. He's not a "bad boy" , just extremely passionate about his craft.

  • @mothersfreakout he's not too thoughtful if he takes out his rage on others. That's just primitive.

  • Great quality, beautiful interview, outstanding actor.

    Thanks man.

  • This man deserves is own OBE. =)

    If not full knigthood...someday ;)

  • Hey, Mimo. Thanks for posting these again. A very good interview in which Russell appears so modest and even a bit shy in the presence of his peers. A different and perhaps more accurate view of the man. Very enjoyable.
